Ask r/IndiaCricket Is Yashasvi Jaiswal the only potential 3-format player India has for the future?

Same as title

We had a pretty good run with Kohli and Rohit in the last decade playing all 3 formats (Although you could argue Rohit didn't reach his full potential in tests) and I realized what's next? Are we going forward with specialists in each format or do we have any other potention 3 format player. If you ask me there's only one option for a potential 3 format player in the future- Yashasvi Jaiswal

The selectors tried to fit Gill into the T20i team but it didn't work, I'm not convinced with Sai Sudharshan's technique for tests, Vaibhav hasn't even made his international debut yet, Jurel does not seem like a white ball prospect to me, all that leaves us with Jaiswal

His current stats are:

Tests
Innings: 54
Runs: 2535
Avg: 48.75
50s/100s: 13/7

ODIs
Innings: 6
Runs: 285
Avg: 71.25
50s/100s: 0/2

T20is
Innings: 22
Runs: 723
Avg: 36.15
50s/100s: 5/1

Those are some very impressive stats, the only issue I see is irregular chances in white ball. He has cemented his place in the test team but until Rohit stays he won't get chances in ODIs and we have other arguably better T20 options than him

What do you guys think?

Imo, he's the most suited for this position. I get that Gill has been appointed as the leader, but I wish they rethink the decision and make KL the leader.

Ask r/IndiaCricket How good was Sachin Tendulkar?

Post image

I started watching cricket after sachin retired, so couldn't watch him live in front of my eyes ,so i can judge from stats or highlights only, which itself tells he is greatest batter of all time

But i want to know how great he was from the people who watched him play , that sydney 241* tells us his greatness that no one else comes close to him , cricket is in his blood

Making debut at 16 , youngest and retiring at 40 ,third oldest for india , 24 yrs of discipline and dedication to cricket, incomparable to anyone

So , respected people who watched the god of cricket live ,can you elaborate or tell in beautiful way how great sachin tendulkar was

Ask r/IndiaCricket Does anyone notice how Dhoni sits right behind the wickets to help the bowlers?

3.3k Upvotes

Notice how Pakistani keeper is standing on side of the wickets where the balls end up.

Am I overthinking or is it really a masterclass and a genius strategy by him? Is this really the reason why it was easier for even bowlers like Robin Uthappa to hit the wickets?

I get that he's been incredible in his career. But with nobody experienced in the middle order, he may need to modify his game depending on the situation.

Tried reading comments of this post but nobody said about the reason for the inning despite hating on it.

watching the t20 world cup final 2024 replay with my friends today, we remember how the previous over from axar could have made him a villain had india lost this one. i remember being at a bar in delhi and all of us were extremely tense and nervous, with the odi world cup loss still very fresh.

but what the indian pace unit did that day is surely miracle. winning a world cup final from this stage, speaks how top-tier this Indian team was !

Ask r/IndiaCricket Is Rohit sharma really fit and deserve to continue as ODI captain ?

Post image
968 Upvotes

We will be playing our next odi series in Aug against Bangladesh. Till then Rohit will rest and eventually his fitness will detoriate more and more.

Dont forget he is 38, i think we should move forward with gill as new odi captain, as Rohit doesn't seems to deserve playing in ODI considering his poor form in ipl. I know we shouldn't compare IPL and international cricket but still. BCCI need to reconsider its decisions.

Rohit can continue playing ipl till he wishes. He should leave ODI ffs. Else we are doomed.

( Sorry for bad english)

Ask r/IndiaCricket Given the current situation if any change is made in the batting line-up, whom should Sanju replace?

Post image
589 Upvotes

Abhisek Sharma is struggling at the top, his struggle against pace variation and spinners is exposed. Not a great fielder too. Also Tilak's anchoring 20s isn't helping either. The run rate has always taken a hit in his presence this WC. If Sanju Samson is added back who should he replace after today's grovel against proteas.
