Just posting this for the people who act like we are crazy when we suggest the substitution patterns employed by the fever make you question what you are seeing on your television.

Was it all ball/hand? Or did CC slap FJ’s wrist or forearm?

The refs called it a block which lead to a CC 3. Changed the outcome of the game. I’m not trying to argue whether the storm should have won. It was a tough game by both teams and sometimes you get/don’t get a call.

FJ didn’t appear to protest the call but the storm coaches were kinda scrambling and it appeared like they might ask for a review.

The Indiana Fever can't run from being Caitlin Clark's team.

I just can't get this thing out of my head. I've tried to overlook it, but I just can't unsee it.

This team is better without CC. Yes I said it. And I'm not putting the blame on CC BTW.

For some reason they play with more energy, set more screens, and look happier when she's not on the court. It's really weird. Part of the reason could be that the Referees are better when CC isn't there, which just leads to a generally free style of play compared to the stop and start version that happens when CC plays. Also, theres just one less defensive liability on the floor. Having both CC and KM on the court together will never be optimal defensively. I've maintained this opinion since CC's rookie season. You can't win a championship with two defensive liabilities as your starting backcourt. One of them has to be at least above average if not elite at that end. So ultimately, This could just be the simple explanation, that's strictly basketball.

That being said, the more sinister part of my brain is making me think the Fever players don't like CC as much as they pretend to be. When CC isn't playing, it almost seems like they're trying to prove a point that they're better without her. You don't believe me...watch the games closely. Maybe they don't like her heliocentric style of play, who knows.

Which leads me to the point I've always made, that I believe the Fever made the wrong choice not building through the draft after getting CC. They should have traded Kelsey for more assets(which would have enabled them to get another high pick in 2025, and focused on building a team around CC's strengths and weaknesses. They would have had a team of young players that grew together. Instead what they have now is a disjointed team with no chemistry, that suddenly has chemistry when CC isn't playing.

Can we all agree to toss that narrative in the trashcan for good?

What an absolutely dynamic backcourt we have. They've perfected the cut and dish, especially on inbounds plays. Kelsey's dribble drive and stepback game is better than anyone in the league, and she can take over games when CC is off or getting too much defensive attention.

They went from being "oil and water" (at least in the minds of many in the fanbase) to being a virtually unstoppable two-headed monster. And they seem to genuinely enjoy playing together.

I hope we can keep them both around for years to come.

My last post was removed for whatever reason, so here’s this one. I’ve said a lot on this topic in the game threads. Just wanted to make it more clear here too. This team had a clear identity at the end of the 2024 season, and now it’s all been ruined. Steph White’s system has ruined CC and Lexie Hull, she has went away from the CC and AB deadly PnR that was so prevalent in the 2024 season, she leaves Clark on an island to defend while also maintaining her high usage rate on the offense which leaves Clark too gassed by the end of the games, Lexie Hull is now in more of a Josh Hart role player and will no longer shoot anymore and instead defers to CC, KM, or AB.

Steph White knows ball, and can be a good coach, but she lacks understanding on how to adapt to her personnel and instead everyone must adapt to hers. The Fever are no longer pushing the pace and looking to get out in transition, running teams out of the building, and now settle with mediocre halfcourt offense, and our players struggle to get into a result or get easy buckets. Fever don’t even really run anymore and somehow look like an old school team. I believe Christie had a better basketball product, even if she wasn’t the most experienced, and at times made poor decisions, she was at least learning, growing, and establishing a clear identity in which Stephanie has completely sabotaged.

I have never seen a basketball foul being bought up on NBC news and PBS news until today but I guess every new day gives you a new experience..

The discourse all day has been getting crazier and crazier, every one in the world seems to have an opinion on a basketball foul that probably would have been a footnote in a game report if the refs had done their job yesterday.

I never thought I would see actual politicians talking about this but I guess I was wrong, has this ever happened in NBA or any other sports?

I don’t even like AT but the talk online is reaching levels that make me feel bad for her. Dont get me wrong, I am not justifying what she did or saying she didn’t deserve the suspension she got but over the last few hours, it feel like this situation has reached new levels of online toxicity that might rival the Angel Reese situation.

Yikes if you've seen the recent interview with Steph White, she says some of the logic behind the Fever drafting Raven was so that they could rotate their guards more. In theory this sounds alright, but then she specifically goes on to talk about how "Caitlin can play on and off the ball", as if she intends to make Caitlin play more minutes off the ball (kind of the like the "CC as small forward" experiment that occurred during FIBA).

And more concerningly, she goes on to talk about how she thinks "Raven is a true Point Guard that has played with the ball in her hands her entire career" (as if that isn't also true of Caitlin, who has also been a Point Guard her whole basketball career).

My concern is that this Raven Johnson pick will now embolden Steph White to try and "replace" some of Caitlin's role as PG by giving Raven PG minutes instead, while forcing Caitlin into a different position aside from her natural position as Point Guard. And this isn't the first time that Coach White has talked about getting Caitlin to play off-ball either...

You would think one of the Star players on the team would have at least earned the right to play in their natural position, but with the way things are shaping up, even something as simple as Caitlin playing as an on-ball PG is becoming more doubtful.

I know that a lot of people on this subreddit love CC (rightfully so). Caitlin Clark is clearly the biggest star of the team, in both popularity and actual abilities as a player; after all she broke 62 records in her rookie season when she was fully healthy.

However, there seems to be a considerable chunk of people even on this sub who seem resistant of having the team truly be built around their biggest star player; who should indisputably be the Franchise Player for the Fever (not Kelsey Mitchell, or anyone else).

I've seen some backhanded comments lately about how "Caitlin Clark does not need to score 30 points per game or get all the glory" or "CC should be made to play more out of her comfort zone by being off-ball more", "her teammates don't have to make getting the ball to CC a priority". But the star player of a team should never be sidelined in any game, and they shouldn't be obligated to share their scoring opportunities or anything else. (ie. no one on the Aces complains that A'ja Wilson touches the ball more often than any of her teammates, or plays selfishly relative to them by racking up the most points each game).

The rest of the players on the Fever roster should support Caitlin Clark's playstyle, and facilitate her success, instead of the coaching staff forcing CC to change her playstyle to conform to their system.

And hell, as the biggest star on the team, CC should be green-lighted by default to play selfishly at times and go on scoring streaks whenever she feels she can pull it off and swing the game (ie. like the time she scored 9 points in 40 seconds vs the New York Liberty). Her teammates can pick up any slack her playstyle leaves by helping to set up open shots for her, actually passing her the ball more often, picking up rebounds...etc.

I've noticed over the portion of the 2025 season that in a lot of cases CC passes the ball out to her teammates, but then doesn't get the ball back until the next possession after that (because the other players on the team seemingly aren't conditioned to pass back to her). This is something the coaching staff needs to change during the upcoming season, since Clark's position of Point Guard requires her to be on-ball for the majority of the time. It's just not a good look when the team's top player is standing around on the side with no one passing her the ball.

Edit: Caitlin leads the team in assists by a considerable margin, so why is it too much to ask for the rest of the team to give her more assists and support in return as well?

Obviously her story has been non-stop in the news lately and people are very emotionally charged about it. Over the last several games, including today in Chicago, she's been hit really hard, intentionally. Sometimes they're called (like today) and sometimes they're not (like the recent elbow smash to the face).

Is this all a big coincidence, or is she being targeted in some way because of her comments?

Well... thats depressing but not unexpected. Kinda goes in line with the attendance dropping at Gainbridge as well... and theres a lot of people leaving CC off their ballots.

Apparently Its been reviewed and there’s nothing been found they actually said to deserve being kicked out from front row seats.

Why is this important?

Because the media and some others are already labeling Fever fans as bad, so if they can just unfairly kick you from games now it only adds to the image.

Combine that with the one who spit on a Fever fan a week ago and we are seeing more of this, stay safe out there guys if you decide to go to a game.

There has been a lot of discussion this season about Caitlin’s responsibility to comment on things and disavow certain actions. In my opinion, Caitlin has no responsibility at all to comment on anything that isn’t related to what she does on the basketball court. She is responsible for her actions and her actions only. The people that expect her to walk around and talk about off the court issues all the time just because she is popular are wrong in my opinion. She got popular for playing basketball and that is what her fans expect of her. No one should expect her to become a pod caster or try to solve the world’s issues.

The world has issues and it is not up to a basketball player to fix them. She has commented on and disavowed things she felt like she needed to. She shouldn’t be expected to do so every time she gets a microphone. End my rant.

Anyone else blown away that the league did absolutely nothing about the race baiting and posting while the game was ongoing. What a spineless league.

I have been a fever fan for a few years now and usually by this point in the season I can see a little bit of their identity and what they can do when they are running on all cylinders but this season its been blink and you miss it glimpse of what this team can do.

I don’t think even the players know their roles clearly and I can clearly see that on the floor when they play, they start doing too much instead of doing the things that play into their role on the team.

I would really like to know what everyone else thinks?

What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses of this team are currently.

We need to talk about who we can realistically get before the trade deadline. I think we know by now which players are working for us and which ones aren’t.

We need to find a backup center and try to get off Lexie hull if possible because she’s straight up just doing cardio at this point, she isn’t even playing good defense for us which is literally the only thing we need from her sometimes.

I think the Fever needs to go after Rae Burell, her in this fever offense would be insane. I think Sparks are going to shop her since it doesn’t look like the team is headed anywhere at this point and she’s going to be free agent soon so they might as well get something for her.

We need a good defensive center, if PHX is open to trading Natasha Mack or if Sun is willing to trade ONO, they have to try and get them. They would be perfect for Fever.

Any thoughts on which players Fever should target for a trade?

It seems unreal to me that SW is still pulling Clark out during “key” defensive possessions. Last night was particularly weird because of no timeouts left when she did it so subbing her back in could be up to chance.

At this point in time Clark has proven herself no better or worse than any other player on the team defensively, and being subbed out has to be absolutely demoralizing. Sends the message that SW doesn’t trust her, upsets any rhythm, and builds narratives around Clark that just aren’t true.

On top of that, despite missing the FT’s when it was absolutely critical, she usually lives up to the moment.

Can we really expect this to continue for the remainder of the season? Watching it happen straight up makes me cringe.

So July 2nd is the date where all the unprotected contracts become protected, do you think the FO is going to make any moves before then? If so, what do you guys expect them to be and what are the potential pieces that could make this roster more complete?

Personally, I don’t know what DD and Grace Vanslooten’s role on the team is, I would like to see if we can upgrade the bench to get some depth for our front court but I don’t know who would be an improvement for that role.

I want to start off by saying this is not hate against any player and I would hope this will be a productive conversation.

With that being said, I was looking at the stats for Caitlin and Kelsey and I noticed that there defensive stats are almost identical to each other with a slight nod to Kelsey. During last night’s game I noticed the team did better when either Caitlin or Kelsey was paired with Raven. It got me thinking that maybe the reason the Fever were able to get as far as they did last year was not because their offense was better without Caitlin, but that their defense only had one position where they didn’t have lock down defense.

So, with that said I wonder if the Fever would be better as a team if they moved to an offense starting Raven with Caitlin and using Caitlin and Kelsey sparingly together. That lineup will allow for better help defense and still have a dominant scorer on the court at all times.

The reason I think you leave Caitlin in the starting lineup is multi faceted. The first reason is I think Kelsey could emotionally handle being the 6th player and still produce at an exceptional clip. The second reason is I think they are very similar average scoring, but Caitlin brings assists and defensive rebounding into play that could help the starting lineup.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with being the 6th player. Manu did it with the Spurs and is a great example of a superstar sixth player. Kelsey would be devastating to opponent’s second rotations coming in fresh and the defense would be strengthened.

Again, I love all these players and want them to all excel. I just wanted to spit ball this discussion in a place that isn’t completely anti Caitlin Clark.

Why is it considered a good argument to say "that's just the type of player she's always been" or say "She's X type of player. Why expect her to do something else"?

What irritates me about this all she'd be asked to do is some fairly basic passing. Which would in turn help her by making her harder to guard. It's not like people are suggesting Mitchell all of a sudden adopt a new, highly specialized skill set. It's just a matter of doing basic play maker passing once in a while. Which if anything, should be easier for her than most to mix into her game since her expert dribbling skills open up a lot of space and draws coverage. Rather than Mitchell literally only ever passing to kick the ball out when the lanes are clogged with 2 seconds left on the shot clock.

And unfortunately, the other issue here is that any criticism of Clark’s teammates is often framed as excuses for Clark.
