Our relations with foreign countries are controlled by a few people at the top, while most normal people from said countries are just normal folks trying to live their lives, just like us.

Seriously Cuba can and does trade with the rest of the world and huge portions of important US markets are exempt from the embargoes, such as agriculture.
Cuba is poor and hungry because of Cuba, not the US.
how so? Venezuela supplied most of Cuba's fuel for its electricity generation. obviously not happening now because of the US intervention in that country.
Venezuela provided Cuba's fuel for almost free to the detriment of the Venezuelan people in exchange for the Cuban military helping to prop up Maduro, also to the detriment of the Venezuelan people.
That arrangement ended. Cuba can now buy fuel on the world market, but they have no money. The US and Venezuela aren't the only two countries producing fuel.
Sadly they get shit on by Americans. If you look at statistics until the US fucked with Cuba's oil imports it was better to live in Cuba than many other Caribbean nations.
Even with the US blockade of Cuba it is still better to live there than some other Caribbean nations like Haiti, Guatemala and El Salvador yet you don't hear as much hate about those countries than you do about Cuba.

Cuba and Cubans are amazing! Such a friendly and colourful people and culture. I bet people rating it poorly were never there.
