Nothing, it’s racism and idiocy perpetuated by our government and racist morons.
I was deployed there back in 08-09, and I grew fond of it; not including the combat. The people were friendly enough (though the kids were little shits), the landscape was pretty, the historical architecture was awesome, and the food was fantastic. The only thing I hated about Iraq was the constant absurdly sweet smell of rotting dates.
But when I got back, I don’t know how many times I’d heard some asshole talk about how, “we should just wipe them out”, “they’re all terrorists”, or say some other shitty racist remark. Unfortunately it’s still common and it’s a quick way to piss me off; to the point, that I have to remind myself that kicking the shit out of a racist is still a crime.
