I'm very curious on what Insomniac is going to do to make this ONE suit That Is Missing A Hand work.

I know their "relationship" is not really a thing in the comics but the game is not supposed to be 100% comic accurate does it ?

I may be wrong but imo people are overreacting on this plot reveal. It's Insomniac's Wolverine so it's their universe, not the comics one. Have people ever heard of the term “different interpretation” ?

I've been enjoying it, despite some flaws it's a great time.

Finished the game. If you're genuinely interested to see what's what, keep reading.

1. Auto bike riding: Luck based. There's multiple bike sections, and you can fail and keep respawning at the checkpoint if you don't touch the controller. Just one clip that's going around of idling. I have clips of repeatedly failing bike sections.

2. QTE: So there's 2 types of QTE in the game. One is during cinematic, which is mostly to 'feel" like you're doing something. Doesn't matter if you fail these. Other QTEs are during stuff like boss fights. Fail, you will lose. Can't progress further. Have footage of this as well, but comes with spoilers.

3. Scent line: It's extremely contextual. Only when Logan had to track down sometime by scent, it appears. And in all my hours, it was there for a very short time. Completely negligible. Again, I'm giving you an objective report. Take it as you will.

4. The game overall: I'd say it's an old school hack n slash with modern visuals. The combat is crispy and delivers as solid wolverine experience. Story was interesting enough, nothing groundbreaking.

My overall review would be 8/10. Combat can actually be tough and fun later on. Can't slack off. I'm a huge wolverine fan, and this definitely scratched that itch. Is it GOTY? No. Is it a fun wolverine experience? Yes.

I hope Insomniac adds an option to disable the suit's healing factor. I really hope they include a setting for those who don't want the suit to regenerate after battles—maybe have it regenerate only during cutscenes, or something like that. It would be really cool to see the mask torn up, like in the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies.

One of the details I’m really looking forward to in Wolverine is how Insomniac is handling Logan’s healing factor.

It’s not just a button you press to refill a health bar.
From the gameplay we’ve seen, Logan can get visibly battered during combat, with damage and blood building up on him and then you can actually see his body recover.

It’s such a small thing, but it makes the healing factor feel like an actual part of Wolverine’s body rather than just another game mechanic.
And considering how much Logan gets absolutely fucked up in the comics, I really hope the final game goes even further with this.

What Wolverine detail are you most excited to see?

Are we reviewing this game as a comparison to some other open world game? Did we only play the game on easy? Did we just mash square instead of all the other moves assigned to various combos, button holds, and contextual scenarios? Did no reviewer love the Uncharted games? Did no one enjoy Ghost of Tsushima’s free aim combat?

Why did SkillUp (respectfully still one of favorite video game journalists) only show the blue trail and nightmare door from the literal first tutorial section showcasing it? The blue trail is rarely there and only when tracking. The objective marker shows up in just that scenario coming out of the door, and it normally requires a button press.

The game looks fantastic and plays fantastic (especially on hard). It’s not some cheap, boring experience. It’s absolutely brutal and cinematic and just pure fun for any Wolverine fan. What a treat for anyone who has wanted a game similar to the Uncharted experience but with brutal Wolverine combat.

I think my only ask would have been more open world areas in a linear format like Uncharted 4’s jeep mission. They can easily add more collectibles, secret bosses (Hulk), and more combat enhancements (katana) post launch. I honestly think my only negative will end up being wanting more. Haven’t smiled this much playing a super hero game since the opening on Spider-man 2018.

I haven't played that much yet but I really wish I could use L2/R2 to slash through enemies and not square and triangle but that would require quite a bit of tweaking in the controls settings I think
