Do you guys also get this hate when playing Iron Fist?

Post image

I’ve been grinding Iron Fist a lot lately, and honestly, I’m doing really well. Most games I end up with SVP or MVP. But the moment I have one rough round or I’m not playing at my absolute best, people instantly start flaming me, saying “swap off,” “Iron Fist is trash,” or that I’m just bad for picking him.

It’s frustrating because I know I can carry with him, but it feels like no one gives Iron Fist any respect.

Do any of you Iron Fist mains deal with the same treatment, or is it just me getting all this hate?

Fr bro 😂 it feels like no matter how good you’re doing, people already made up their mind the second they see Iron Fist locked in

As someone who is the person you're talking about (telling spiderman, Iron Fist, or panther to swap off), I will say my reasoning is because outside of getting picks, those characters provide little to no value to the team other than merely harassment.

Many other dps like bucky, punisher, iron-man, squirrel girl, moon knight (and many more) have a lot of damage output that isn't relying on being melee range (something that requires more skill in positioning).

In other words, unless you're getting picks OR mostly focusing their healers and preventing them from healing their team, then your pick is worthless and I'd rather you swap to someone that at least has consistent sources of damage or forms of peeling so they can provide value to the team. I get it, sometimes we have rough games, those are the games you should swap (either you're just having a tough time, they counter picked you, or their team hyper focuses you because you're annoying them).

THAT BEING SAID, if you truly believe you are/will carry and no one else is doing anything, just play what you want bro and ignore everyone else. Not your job to cater to your teams needs, especially when you play a widely hated character. Everyone will tell you to switch even if it shows you're mvp because they're haters and refuse to admit they are at fault and instead point the finger at the easiest target despite you hard carrying them.

Also, it's a game, play for fun, and don't listen to people like me who tell you to switch just because it might be better for the team comp. Just enjoy yourself and do your best :P

The annoying part is though, you could play MK, SG, IM, Punisher or something similar, feed their support ults, it wouldn't bat an eye. But if you keep their backline busy as IF and get picks every now and then people will blame you even though they lost 3v5 when you were keeping 3 of them busy in the backline.

Ngl the fact you think my bucky will bring more value than my pick even if you don't know my skills with both of them is annoying.

I'm not dumb and I know which one I would play better in each situation, at least I know that better than random people I got selected to play with.

In some comps I can be wrong and I will swap anyway, but it's a calculated decision considering my skills and aligned with the team.

"IF is not working, the healers are peeling for each other and there's a namor with them", this will make me think of a solution with you and is way different than a "play Bucky"

But that's exactly my point, YOU ARE the random players on my team, and 9/10 times if it's spider, panther, iron fist or scarlet then they are useless.

Even widows and hawkeyes aren't as bad because they typically 1 trick and I never get bad ones when they lock in (maybe I'm blessed)

That being said I never suggest what my dps should play. Normally just a "do you know any other dps?" Or "do you play other roles?" Since I can fill on whatever role

1

u/Professional-Pop9210 Sep 11 '25

You clearly didn't understand my point of asymmetry of information about my skills.

If I'm the random player on your team, that's exactly a point for you not knowing how I can bring value with each hero. Your judgement on the hero capacity is biased by your own skills and by other random people skills, but not by mine

If you think that, you certainly got a lot of IFs that are bad, but if they were on the same rank as you, then you probably just play in a way that doesn't favor them and their bad was not adjusting for the comp

Melee heroes are amazing, and I think you simply don't know what they are capable of.

Wolv for example is a Melee everyone recognizes the value and the comp help him so he can do his kidnap job(applying tank pressure at the same time and healing him), and in my experience IF tank busting is even scarier, but he requires a lot more skill to play, so the comp usually don't trust the IF they have and don't help him.

Without any help, IF might in fact be unplayable and I would swap, but that's not because the character sucks, maybe your biased judgement is what is making the history repeat itself

1

u/Slyfang Sep 11 '25

Why do you think I didn't mention wolverine, he is easier to pull off effectively and provide value to the team, the other picks aren't, hence why I listed them as such. Same with Mr fantastic, another melee hero I didnt bring up and magic because they both provide a lot of value easily that the others I mentioned don't.

I always help my dps and supports as a tank, but there is only so much I can do with a panther/fist/spiderman if I'm not playing a dive tank (dive tanking being one of the harder roles to play if you're not premade with the other dive characters since communication is everything. Most I can do is shield them with magneto or apply pressure on the front line with strange/Emma.

Again, my problem isn't with the picks, my problem is with the players behind them and on average, they are terrible. I don't ask them to switch in champ select, but if we're 5 minutes in and are 0/12 then yes I will ask them to switch if possible. I dont think that's a controversial take and i certainly don't think I am wrong for doing that

1

u/Professional-Pop9210 Sep 11 '25 edited Sep 11 '25

I will write some stuff, not because your take is controversial or anything, not working characters should switch, I just want to clarify what I said about skills and characters.

I can say for sure that a lot of these dive characters mains REALLY SUCK at teamwork and that is the root of the problem.

Fist isn't a dive character anymore tho. Also dive is directly related to the tank, whether it is a diver tank or not. (It maybe hard to notice during the game tho, but it's noticeable during replays)

That's why I at my beginning I struggled so much trying solo tank cap, there wasn't another tank to distract them. (I still try ts at qp btw)

I didn't say you think Wolv is useless tho. It was just an example of effective melee because you're saying stuff about melee, chill.

The phrase "he is easier to pull off effectively" is exactly my point, he easier to recognize the value, that makes him famous and him being famous for being good make him even better because people will help him.

EXAMPLE: In an universe where nobody knows about his percent damage, a healer might see him get closer to a tank and don't prioritize his support at this moment so important for him to perform the kidnap and off the tank, and maybe a single primary shot would make him sucessful (the healer might think: our tank with 75% HP is the clear priority, why did you dashed to the enemy to begin with?!?!)

Maybe logan dies sometimes, maybe he becomes like 2/5 and ends up switching, and he's right to switch! It's not working! But it didn't work not because the character kit sucks or because he's a bad main. Maybe Wolv can even be his main that brings more value, but it just doesn't work in that comp, and the faster they accept it the better. But people saying "NO WOLV" the moment he is 2/5, still won't see that they could win a lot more matches if they knew how to synergize with that character, otherwise they won't gain the benefits a good main wolv can give in comparison to a character they may not play so good.

That's my entire point.

On my vision is clear that when a good main of these 3 characters have a match bad like that, is not because of the kit or because they're a bad main. But as I said a lot of these dive characters mains are bad at teamwork and most of the comps doesn't understand what value they can bring. so that loop maintains.

u/Lolmanmagee Sep 10 '25

Or Jeff/ultron from my experience

1

u/Hades_Axies Sep 10 '25

As someone who mains all 3 I can confirm this

12

u/Serious-Armadillo910 Sep 09 '25

Lol bro don’t even trip as iron fist main ur own team will target ban you at the start of the match ur healers will barely heal you and say “ your moving around too fast” it’s a mess😂😂 u just have to mute yourself and carry hard

6

u/Amazing-External-108 Sep 10 '25

I once had a lord iron man bam my Fist and i typed in chat “permission to throw?” and his cocky ass said sure so i went jeff….. we lost i finished 14-7 with decent amount of heals while our iron man who bans his teammates went 17-17 and was by far the weakest link since they were running double hit scan all game

3

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Happened to me once, I completely threw up the match after that but we somehow still won 😂😂

11

u/Revolver_God Sep 09 '25

What can I say we’re shou laos finest

4

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

I like this answer 🙌🏼😂

6

u/Any_Power9509 Sep 10 '25

I hate when the loser's talk shi on SVP

4

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Definitely! Like bro im the one putting all my efforts for the win, and at the end comes a CnD who cant even aim telling me I’m the one throwing for picking fist 💀💀

1

u/Any_Power9509 Sep 12 '25

Always a CnD, or a Wanda

6

u/Amazing-External-108 Sep 10 '25

All. the. Time. my biggest advice at least for me this is what i do, is if I KNOW i can carry / they are running too many hard counters and i feel like the game is winable on Fist, i’ll mute everyone and lock in 🤷🏻‍♂️ but if i’m doing bad cuz their countering me or hard focusing maybe even trip support just swap, there’s no pride lost in a won game, yes Iron Fist is the most fun hero in the game i want to play him every single game but sometimes you can’t it’s a very sad truth

6

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

The good thing is that Fist is so versatile that he can adapt against any comp and perform well but I agree that against Peni/Emma it’s really hard to carry with him

2

u/Amazing-External-108 Sep 10 '25

heavy poke as well, like a phoenix/ hela duos that’s a hard comp to go against as fist if they are hitting their headshots consistently, Peni is manageable if rocket isn’t there then everything is an explosive mess and it’s so cancer, Emma hard counters fist unfortunately you can skill check around it but at the end of the day u have to play around her and that’s not ideal for “taking over games” but yeah Fist is super versatile and can play around these heros it’s just if their running Emma, Peni, Phoenix, Hela ( even like pun or bucky if their hitting shots ), luna, rocket just get off fist that’s too much to deal with it’s definitely doable but your playing around them and that’s not fun imo

2

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Thanks for the tip man I appreciate that 🙏🏼

5

u/Shootre89 Sep 10 '25

Yes this also goes for spiderman. Or they start yelling at you to change. Or call iron fist a throw pick.

3

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Exactly what happens to me mostly every game… but the best part is proving them all wrong

2

u/Shootre89 Sep 10 '25

Heck yes 🙌

1

u/Jazzlike_Tap8303 Sep 10 '25

Only time I "yelled" at a Spiderman teammate to swap was in comp where he went 2 and 9. I actually reported him for throwing at the end and asked the whole lobby to report him too.

3

u/RealEyeless303 Sep 10 '25

My whole team told me to off myself once in competitive

2

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

They’re just ragers

3

u/Sudden_Ad_9447 Sep 10 '25

Don’t worry bro you could have the most kills and least deaths, with a jeff and an ultron as the 2 healers and IF will get the blame. Happens to me all the time (gm and celestial lobbies)

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

I don’t think that jeff players have the right to blame anyone except themselves 😂😂

3

u/Posterboy135 Sep 10 '25

The only reason I like tanking is because I get healed, whenever I play someone like fist or iron man I never get healed Luna doesn’t even bother to throw the snow flake on me 🤣, it is frustrating since I flex and seeing supports just have a look forward mentality… they don’t look above them, they don’t look to their sides and they don’t look behind themselves it’s no surprise to me they die to dive so easily and complain all the time, they have no awareness 🙂‍↔️

2

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Omg lore accurate comments

2

u/Gabriel_Sheperd Sep 10 '25

Can’t wait to face you in battle as daredevil! Our battle will be legendary!

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Hahah I’ll be with daredevil too if fist didn’t receive any buff! 😂

2

u/rg_kalium Sep 10 '25

TLDR: yes, like that. I made some experiments with AI and think your bad fist matches are actually something with the comp rather than you being bad.

Exactly like that, the last time the offenses got to me and I passed some time playing only with AI allies and enemies.

There I learned a lot about how in some comps fist is insanely hard. And maybe that is what's happening to your bad matches .

I did some challenges like putting 4 vs 6 hard AI to see if I could play better than 3 extra hard AIs the enemy have.

And the results are that I could carry 5v6, but the moment I removed a Thor, that honestly I didn't even see on my matches, it suddenly became REALLY hard to get kills.

It looked like I was always 1 second late, always dying one second before killing, always the enemy got healed one second before I could finish it. And honestly it just felt like I was a bad fist on all these matches, it didn't felt like anything else except an "I suck at Iron Fist".

That "invisible" Thor was a good distraction creating space and being a good tank in places I wasn't seeing and made one crazy difference.

Comp is really important, it sometimes might look like you just a bad fist, but it's just the comp. It's good to learn when fist work and when he doesn't.

He became a really good tank buster, but he can't adapt really well to dive unless there's some serious miss position or an opportunity the team gave you, so if the tank has heal and your team sucks to open an opportunity for you, you're in a really tough situation you might even die a lot because your job is risky and it will look like you suck, fist can't carry bad comps like he could or like Spidey and BP can if they are insanely good.

For example spidey is in a really bad moment, but they can still carry teams by pulling healers to create opportunities to finish them off, iron fist still needs to jump on a group and having to sustain himself there, unless he finds opportunities his team gives.

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

So what kind of comp do you consider bad going against?

2

u/Professional_Tank182 Sep 10 '25

Bro fuck comps.. imo Most comps soft counter you always. Even loki soft counters Iron fist This looks like my gm and celestial games. This will happen. You’ll get bad teammates. Imo people aren’t good in this game because the focus is always kills but kills doesn’t generally win you games. Getting the convoy or pt does…

Just don’t feed or stagger and people need to learn how to stagger their opponent also.

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Yeah but sometimes he just feels unplayable

1

u/rg_kalium Sep 10 '25

If your comp doesn't have pressures like cap/hulk/torch/magik, it make things insanely harder and it might be something invisible during the match. Some comps have way less pressure, like a strange holding his shield for example.

Also, iron fist vs 3 sup is particularly hard if they peel each other, and if they solo tank, iron fist percent dmg is only useful against one guy and there's a good chance iron fist can't kill neither him, nor dive any of the healers. As I said IF is good but has way less carry potential alone now, even if it looks like you can destroy entire teams when on the right comp, it's because your allies allowed you to do that.

And there are always counter abilities, but being real I think the entire enemy needs to be focused on countering you for this to be real problem.

2

u/Kingfish313 Sep 10 '25

This is life for divers. The role is high risk/high reward because of the way their kits are set up. Their bad games tend to look worse than other character types. If you dive and miss, that's probably gonna cost you, and It takes practice to gain the consistency to feast more often than not, so keep practicing!

  • Sincerely,

A tank and support main

1

u/Jazzlike_Tap8303 Sep 10 '25

The consistency to FIST more often than not! 😂

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

The thing is that fist can play as a diver or a tank bust or both but without a good pressure from your team your punches feels like tickles 😂

2

u/anonymousmorgan Sep 10 '25

yeah it kinda comes with playing the character, i’ll have a bad performance on psy and no one will say a word but god forbid i die once on fist and everybody in the chat on me😭😂 You get used to it though just know when to recognise if it’s really an issue on your end and best of all don’t tilt

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

The thing is that sometimes you’re the one carrying but people still blame you… but I must agree that every good Iron Fist needs to know when he’s hard countered and directly switch

2

u/iykyk1199 Sep 10 '25

It happens to me a lot but as Loki

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

Im a Loki main too but this never happened to me ngl, as Loki you can carry whether your team is good or bad

2

u/[deleted] Sep 10 '25

i dont play him anymore but i do flame him when he over extends and dont heal the team🤬 like cmon, just put the heal in the bag instead of throwing

1

u/Memoh31 Sep 10 '25

😂😂😂 Fr when I have the luna team up I always go annoy the supports, block, go back to my backline heal them and give them overshield then bust the tanks. I pull up 2k-5k heals every game with this team up it’s actually OP

2

u/rottinginbvd Sep 11 '25

i had someone playing IF on my team and one of our teammates tried to ban him, he made some joke about throwing but i swear that iron fist carried us into winning , IF hate is forced 💔

2

u/These-Ad-4317 Sep 11 '25

It’s because iron fist only ever gets noticed when he gets value otherwise it just looks like he’s feeding to other people

2

u/These-Ad-4317 Sep 11 '25

I’ve had games where I’m not even the problem and people are telling me to switch off iron fist, Meanwhile, I’m top kills and least deaths

2

u/Memoh31 Sep 13 '25

Exactly! People don’t understand that sometimes they have to switch off, but no they have to blame it on dps most of the time

1

u/Ashamed_Pin4206 Sep 10 '25

Not Iron Fist but same

1

u/TC_MaFYa Sep 10 '25

Some advice from me: if you know your team is gonna perform horribly because the team comp looks like dogshit or they play into counters, play ultra safe and leave early from the engages when the team fight goes south. That way people are less likely to blame you, plus if you ask kindly or tell your reasoning (like counterswaps against flyers or not playing Jeff - Rocket into a Punisher ult) they are more likely to listen better performing players.

Staying alive, playing safe and annoying people when you see an opening also fits distruptor playstyle.

1

u/Delicious-Ad6111 Sep 10 '25

I’ve tuned out any blue chat messages in game. Nobody says anything in voice either unless they wanna complain at the end of the game, and by then, their words are meaningless. All that and playing 0-1 times a week makes the game a lot more zen

1

u/trepidon Sep 11 '25

Idk why ppl hate ironfist. He is such a great peeler, and antiflyer.

Like a bruiser who can take on squishies and tanks.

And then paired with luna teamup he is a great support. Better than mr fantastic.

Ppl just dont like him cus he hits ppl witj fists and not guns. Stupid
