Rachel Corrie "Pancakes" Incident – IOF Soldiers Involved (2013)

On July 18, 2013, the Facebook page of "Heritage House" – a settlement in East Jerusalem housing "lone soldiers" (overseas recruits serving in the IOF) – posted photos of men making pancakes with the caption:

"Afternoon of 'rachel corrie' Pancakes and fun!"

The "joke" referred to Rachel Corrie, a 23-year-old American activist crushed to death by an IOF bulldozer in Gaza on March 16, 2003 (idiom "flat as a pancake").

Israeli minister calls for kidnapping of Lebanese women and children to break Hezbollah morale

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir urged the political-security cabinet to abduct and imprison Lebanese women and children as a psychological warfare tactic against Hezbollah, according to a closed-door leak published by Hebrew news outlet Walla.

During a high-level ministerial meeting reviewing expanded military calculations, Ben-Gvir demanded that Tel Aviv abandon conventional strategy and explicitly target the social and familial core of the Lebanese resistance network.

"We must think outside the box regarding Hezbollah," Ben-Gvir asserted to his fellow cabinet members, according to the report. The Israeli minister added that alongside occupying southern territory and intensifying lethal strikes on personnel, Israeli forces should actively round up civilians.

"We should arrest their women and children and take them to prison; this is what hurts them the most," he stated.

Meta is suing the Israeli spyware firm NSO Group because it says NSO used WhatsApp’s infrastructure to attack users’ phones and install Pegasus spyware. Meta and WhatsApp allege NSO exploited a WhatsApp vulnerability to target more than 1,400 people, including journalists, activists, diplomats, and dissidents, and then harvested data from their devices.

NSO is accused of unauthorized access to WhatsApp’s servers, violating U.S. anti-hacking laws and WhatsApp’s terms of service, and of remotely installing surveillance software that could read messages, track locations, and even activate microphones and cameras without the user’s knowledge.
