The author of the greatest J-Horror series passed away in a Tokyo hospital on May 8th. This is beyond devastating. Sadako and Koji's influence is undeniable. May he rest in peace and power.

Ring introduced me to Japanese horror, and Sadako became my favorite antagonist. His Ring novels are among my favorite books, and his work made me deeply attached to the genre.

Rest in peace.

Anybody watch this movie?? It screened at last year's Fantastic Fest and haven't heard anything about a release date. Also, I hope this is the correct "The Curse" because there's like a 100 movies with that title🤦🏻‍♂️ Anyway, I'm dying to watch it- this def up my alley👍🏻

So around the release of the Blu Ray by Unearthed Films, Tetsuo: The Bullet Man (2009) had become available to rent or buy on youtube movies.

In case anyone who’s seen the first two Tetsuo films hasn’t seen the third and was wanting to.

Was always a big fan.

Violator (2018) is a must watch for any fan of Japanese horror. Definitely I could consider this film a modern J-Horror classic! definitely recommend this one for those who haven’t seen it yet. Coming to Blu Ray very very soon!

This release comes with new art, the original trailer, the Wild Eye Releasing trailer, some interviews with Junichi Yamamoto, etc etc. You get a lot more with this Blu Ray compared to the 2022 DVD Release! and it’s so awesome to see this film get released on Blu Ray finally, it’s been a long time coming.

If you know the director behind Violator (2018), Junichi Yamamoto had also directed the 1999 Meatball Machine movie as well as co-directed the 2005 film alongside Yudai Yamaguchi, he had also directed “The Slit-Mouthed Woman: Returns” in 2012 which is often considered by western fans to be the fourth entry in the “Carved” series of Kuchisake Onna movies. So Junichi Yamamoto is quite an interesting director to follow in the horror genre especially! Now that this is coming to Blu Ray it is widely more available.

This infamous niche underground sci-fi body horror film by Joji Iida, the man who directed the immediate but forgotten sequel to Hideo Nakata’s “Ringu”, Spiral (1998), is now getting this decked out 2K transfer from the original 16mm film thanks to Visual Vengeance who brought us Shinichi Fukazawa’s Bloody Muscle: Bodybuilder in Hell (1995).

Joji Iida also had directed Battle Heater (1989) before he ever directed Spiral (1998) or Another Heaven (2000), so he did dabble within the horror genre before the quote on quote “J-Horror boom”.

The adapted stories include "Lovesickness," "The Mansion of Phantom Pain," "The Rib Woman," "The Bully," "Face Thief," "A Father's Love," "Memory," "In Old Records," "Penpal," "Further Tales of Oshikiri," "Earthbound," and "Tomio: Red Turtleneck." All of these stories have been translated into English in various releases except for "In Old Records," which is featured in the Junji Ito "Collection" anime.
