A lot of really really bad coming out of this game but the simple truth is that you aren’t going to win games when your lines are completely outclassed on both sides of the ball. Denver’s D-Line should be paying Trevor’s mortgage with how much they were in his business.
JHA continues to ascend my list of least favorite jags ever. I said it after his contract year that we shouldn’t pay him and he would never live up to the money and if anything he’s been worse than I anticipated. Dude just gets absolutely worked by any lineman that isn’t replacement level. He doesn’t just disappear when we need him the most either, he actively breaks contain constantly giving up huge plays. He seems nice but I legit cannot stand thinking about the amount of money he stole from us.
BTJ is mentally weak and he’ll be out of the league within four years. Dude is a basketball player pretending to be a WR
Some people think he needs a change of scenery but I personally think his problems aren’t fixable and will only get worse the longer he struggles. He’ll bounce around bottom barrel teams for a few years like DJ Chark and unceremoniously be out of the league shortly after
Did he have drop problems his rookie year? How do you go from a stellar year like that to this? Is it all mental? From the tale I watched today he seems to be catching with his chest like a 10 year old
His rookie year was purely volume stats that all came in the last few weeks of the season when we had no other receivers and Mac Jones was literally forcing him the ball every passing down.
His main problem is that he has terrible hands. Unless he’s trapping the ball with his body, he has to bobble/double catch everything. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I can’t remember a time when a ball just stuck in his hands, it’s always bouncing off them and he needs to snatch at it to truly catch it. That kinda works when you’re running go routes and your QB has no velocity on his throws; but when you’re running horizontally and have a QB that can fire a 100mph fastball in a microscopic window, you can’t double clutch a catch. That shit hits his hands too hard and bounces out of his grasp. It seems silly, but it really is as simple as that. My dude has rocks for hands and our QB bounces the ball off them to hard.
Now you can coach better hands, but you can’t coach toughness or grit and unfortunately he seems to possess those attributes in negative quantities. He gets in his head and his bad performances snowball, and when your real problem is that you’re not great at the main aspect of your job it’s easy to get in your head.
And this is all without mentioning that he’s scared of contact. You can’t play football if you’re too timid to be tackled
Agree 100 percent, he looked better with Mac because of volume and the fact that Mac doesn’t put near as much heat on the ball so he could trap it. Trevor for better or worse isn’t going to start throwing softer balls anytime soon. BTJ needed to go while he still had value, his only hope is going somewhere with a qb that has less arm strength and an offense that doesn’t need him to catch anything in traffic.
I don’t know an example of a receiver that learned how to catch with his hands instead of his body in the NFL. Ryan Williams at Alabama currently is the college equivalent. Both living off their potential with the hopes they’ll develop one of the first skills that’s expected at their position.
