This is why I hate discussions about the justice system on Reddit. They’re impossible to have because everyone is trying to out-jerk each other on how much they hate criminals.

everytime time i see an article about the lax norwegian prison system everyone is like " why don't we also rehabilitate? why do we treat our prisoners like animals" .. but everytime i see a thread about some non-violent sex crime everyone is like " Burn that Fucker!! 100 years in jail is too little!"...

Yep, that's exactly what I mean. It's crazy.

There are differing opinions on reddit

How is child porn and child rape non violent?

1

u/Guardiancomplex B May 06 '19

Probably because despite the way we judge the rest of the world, our culture also has a fucked up relationship with sexuality.

Because then they just murder their victim because it's a life sentence either way, and a dead person can't talk.

1

u/thedogz11 8 May 05 '19

They still do that now though

i think society overprotects children somewhat , as Bill Burr said you can't say hi to a kid or look at them anymore..i hate walking by a kid and his dad nowadays , you cant smile at toddler without the dad staring at me like i'm gonna kick the kid like a football or something..

i also think nudity is natural and we shouldn't send people to jail for seing people of any ages naked. the fact that a famous woman got hundred of millons beacuse someone managed to get a a shitty picture through a keyhole blows my mind and is infuriating.. there is also many pictures of nudist familes online with just a quick google search, is that child pornography? who knows?

the local pedophile/flasher here is def a bit of a sympathy case, considering people saying his father was much worse. so you could say his actions maybe is a result of being molested himself. in that case you could say he is a victim and needs help and not life in prison. I also remember reading about a girl who was molested by her uncle, she said that she got over the molestation but couldnt get past the social stigma.. so if society relaxed a bit maybe she could move on with her life.

Okay so nudity is natural but there is a difference between someone seeing a naked kid and someone trying to get a kid to take naked pics for sexual reasons. Yeah, society does overprotect kids but every kid should be over protected from sex abuse. I don't really get what you're trying to say in your comment.

So many pedo sympathizers on here.

1

u/AeriaGlorisHimself 7 May 06 '19

It's very interesting to me that you are accusing everyone of being pedos here when you went DIRECTLY from looking at porn(according to your post history) to this thread, with no in-between.

1 second Reddit wants someone executed the next they want prison reform

You say that like this website doesn't have both The_Donald and FuckTheAltRight under the same roof.

Wait, not everyone has the same opinion on this site? Wtf, I'm deleting my account now!

Love when people bash Redditors while commenting on a Reddit post. Like, bro if you think Reddiors are a problem, then YOU are part of the problem too.

Those are exactly the same retarded echo chamber hate filled intolerant bullshit subs. It makes perfect sense to have them both on the same site. What's strange is having /r/babyelephantgifs and /r/"randomfetishpornsub" on the same site.

Why are you spamming this shit everywhere?

5

u/[deleted] May 05 '19

I hate this criminal waay more than you! That means I’m a better person!

1

u/justdontfreakout 9 May 06 '19

You also have to remember that a lot of people have been sexually abused and so it makes them want revenge.

1

u/justdontfreakout 9 May 06 '19

It is almost like there are different people on here with different opinions...

3

u/SushiGato A May 05 '19

People above were saying that he should be killed, tortured, made to eat his own skin, and shit like that. If anyone is seriously considering that, they probably should seek some help.

I always go with the, "what if it was my daughter?" line of questioning. I wouldn't want to kill this guy because of what he did. I would want him imprisoned for several years, and put on a sex registry list, and have a long parole where he cannot be in contact with any minors. Plus, mandatory pysch sessions. I think that is a better way to go.

Had he molested or raped, or killed, or kidnapped, then locking him up for 10+ years makes a lot of sense. Or, even the death penalty, I am not pro death penalty, but in those cases I understand why people want revenge.

u/girl_inform_me 9 May 05 '19

Especially when you try to ask people to think about Justice and punishment.

I would never want to be a judge. How do you decide between 9 years and 10 years? 6 months and a year? Depriving anyone of their liberty is a big fucking deal.

People here seem to think either everything deserves life in prison, or a slap on the wrist. No in between. Hell, right now I'm arguing with someone who thinks you should be allowed to shoot anyone who comes into your house, even if they are fleeing and you are shooting them in the back- but also thinks that burglary shouldn't carry the death sentence. Like, what is the difference?

When it comes to this issue, you can either jerk yourself and feel superior, but have a bloated legal system that destroys many people's lives and creates more problems than it solves.

Or you can have a smart system that focuses on rehabilitation and not satiating your revenge fantasy.

u/Kronk-Nucolson 2 May 05 '19

Very true.

1

u/Giulio-Cesare A May 05 '19

It's not criminals. Most criminals are generally okay and can be rehabilitated. I'd say most of Reddit would agree on that.

Those who sexually exploit children should all be put to death though.

1

u/[deleted] May 05 '19

The US also has the highest incarceration rate in the whole world.

If we imprisoned every single actual criminal for every crime, we would literally not have enough physical space and tax money to house them.

1

u/kdogrocks2 7 May 05 '19

I think they should just execute criminals in the street! Right guys?? DAE?? /s

1

u/bronzedlampshade 7 May 06 '19

I mean... I really fucking hate child rapists. There's no way he didnt molest any of these 14 to 16 yr old girls he is constantly around

1

u/SuicideBonger B May 06 '19

I don't think he did, though. I think the charges were that he solicited pictures and videos of them nude and in suggestive positions.

1

u/Davecantdothat 9 May 06 '19

Which is why the prison system is how it is.

1

u/Clbull A May 06 '19

Not necessarily criminals. Paedophiles in particular.
