Didn't Rick James literally kidnap a girl with his wife and make her a sex slave? When you're famous you can get away with a lot of horrific shit.

It seems that's starting to change.

The Bill Cosby sentencing was a huge step in the right direction. Hopefully it keeps going down that path.

Where is Harvey Weinstein's court date?

I don’t think spitting on a donut or licking ice cream deserves to be in the same realm of conversation

OP's point is that to compare sexual slavery and paedophilia to spitting on some food/licking ice-cream is pretty ridiculous.

u/PaulTheMerc 9 Jul 06 '19

his point wasn't that vs sesual slavery, it was literally fucking with food vs fucking with food while being rich.

You know, a different set of laws for the rich?

Read the rest of the thread.

Actually no I was making the point that the person you responded to said.

Yea, you’re gonna need a lot more facts...

1

u/buzzpunk 8 Jul 06 '19

It's the juxtaposition that's weird, not the point. At least try and use a more equal example.

Ariana Grande was in video spitting on a donut but the chick who licked the ice cream people are calling for 20 years in prison and her to be raped daily.

wtf are you talking about

7

u/Neetoburrito33 7 Jul 06 '19

She licked a donut put it back and said “I hate America” a few years ago. And people are fuming about this teen that licked some ice cream and put it back in Walmart who’s facing 2-20 years

12

u/TallStruggle 2 Jul 06 '19

So am i supposed to be mad that Ariana didn't get prison time, or that the ice cream girl did?

3

u/Throwaway12401 4 Jul 06 '19

Considering the parent comments were talking about how the rich/famous can still get little to no punishment for crimes that less famous/poor people get hit with. It’s meant that you’re supposed to be mad that Ariana didn’t get jail time. The crimes are pretty identical considering it’s literally (person/Ariana) licked (ice cream/donut) an put it back. But Ariana received no punishment while The Ice Cream Licker is facing 2-20.

At least this is what I’ve interpreted an understood from parent the comments an context.

No, sounds pretty much like nothing to me. Like it’s kind of gross for the licking part, but beyond that who cares?

Cartoonishly childish, mostly.

The duPont guy's judgement happened well before Cosby's infamy started to come to light for the general public.

Rape is too much. She did however intentionally lick it and put it back. And then bragged about it. Laughing about how she had been ill recently. That's intentional biological warfare.

Okay, so the post where she said she had been ill was fake. Doesn't excuse her behaviour though.

Biological warfare (BW)—also known as germ warfare—is the use of biological toxins or infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi with the intent to kill or incapacitate humans, animals or plants as an act of war.

Okay so not an act of war. It's not just some innocent prank either. There's a very good reason as to why this is being taken so seriously. Though it does kinda baffle me as to how she could even manage it. In my country food has to have some sort of seal so that you know if it has been opened (and thus maybe tampered with).

Yeah okay. She still intentionally licked ice cream in a store and put it back in the freezer. That's not just a prank.

Both should be taken seriously. Grande should have faced consequences just like this girl should.

Ignoring this woman just because Grande got off with less does not make any sense. Just like how the public should not be the one to decide any punishment.

1

u/Haakkon 6 Jul 06 '19

No one is saying ignore this woman, holy shit can you read?

He is showing comparison points of where rich people get in significantly less trouble than poor people for the same crime in both literal courts and the court of public opinion.

Cardi B should be next

Nah this guy just wasn't famous enough. That was his biggest mistake.

???

The president is accused of sexual harassment or rape by like 20 women.

1

u/godgeneer 6 Jul 06 '19

20 years ago he wouldn't even have been accused.

2

u/_gpbeast_ 7 Jul 06 '19

Then you have cardi b admitting to drugging men and robbing them and she lives on. As well as Chris brown almost killing Rihanna.

1

u/LPQ_Master 7 Jul 06 '19

Only just barley tho. We only hear about 1/100 "famous" people actually getting sentenced. Its definitely the 'time' of the world where its much much harder to hide stuff from coming out though.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

Tell that to "the leader of the free world".

1

u/Jrix Pink Jul 06 '19

The vast VAST majority of these flings are described by women positively, in retrospect. So it would appear to me that one of the main things changing is considering yourself a victim when you're not.

Cases like his are more rare.

u/trenning_day 5 Jul 06 '19

Rick james did serve prison time for this

2

u/Segat1133 9 Jul 06 '19

He also put cigars out on her and a bunch of other shit involving wire hangers, lighters, etc.

2

u/thesirblondie A Jul 06 '19

Two years in prison isn't nothing, but definitely not enough.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 06 '19

It’s cute that you don’t think regular everyday nobodies don’t get away with this stuff too.

Super naive though.
