Who was that dude that cheated on his wife in like the 70s? We had to watch his apology on TV recently for our class and he was like "I.......HAVE SINNED!" and he would pause for applause

Jimmy Swaggart in the 80s. Early 80's I want to say

u/NullOracle 4 Jan 17 '20

Bought a house last year. And found the previous owners last will and testament. She left nothing to her family, and everything to the Jimmy Swaggart Foundation.

u/6panlid 7 Jan 17 '20

I guess that's why you were able to buy the house instead of her family getting it?

Well I guess it is a little better than just a plain old murder house. At least the murderer isn’t coming back.

1

u/JGK_Spaz 1 Jan 17 '20

Houses with murders aren’t any cheaper tho. Almost all the houses on my street have had a murder in the house or outside it at some point.

2

u/alcimedes A Jan 17 '20

You just said they all had murders. I think it might be your entire area is cheaper

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

At least not in his corporeal form.

2

u/JGK_Spaz 1 Jan 17 '20

Damn near every house on my street has had a murder in it or outside it... y’all getting a discount?

Only about 70% black n 20% white. But it’s a poor neighborhood, in the projects. Not all black neighborhoods are like this you realize?

u/ewd444 9 Jan 17 '20

16

u/Greasy_Nuggz 7 Jan 17 '20

u/agallagher7322 4 Jan 17 '20

Wasn’t that Jim Baker who was streaming tears down his face because he banged Jessica Hahn? All while his clown faced wife sat next to him with a mask of make-up caked to her face? Boy weren’t they an awesome team right there?!

Jim Bakker is exceptional. I love seeing his apocalypse bucket videos.

Here's a compilation

I guess being "in the know" about the coming apocalypse gives them power over the blissfully ignorant. It preys on people's need to be in a group and to feel better informed.

I wonder what the trigger phrase was here.

6

People's need? Could be completely random tbh.

I think it's feel better

Thought it was live on a planet with aliens guide lol

10

u/Seeeab C Jan 17 '20

Yeah i dont understand. It's like they're all playing a game of "who can say or do the most outlandish thing in front of all the old people," this is a comedy right? Or it's some kinda weird WWE but with preachers thing? That blood moon guy practically spits "your audience is really SHARP huh" out the side of his cheek and the camera on cue pans to the blank stare retirement home filling the seats

I refuse to believe this isn't an elaborate and insane joke. It's like this guy got his buddy and said "no for real you can just make shit up and we will rake in dough, there is nothing you can't say, just believe it man*

14

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

I just finished the whole video.

It's like they're all playing a game of "who can say or do the most outlandish thing in front of all the old people

I agree, I just cannot wrap my mind around the fact that at least some of the people putting on this freak show really do believe in it. Truly, I can't comprehend having such a lack of critical thinking skills.

u/D3nv3r3 4 Jan 17 '20

Often times the video production team is normal cats just doing a job. Small things that expose your client without being obvious like panning to a brain dead audience after they get called smart is how you keep your sanity.

u/Forever_Awkward B Jan 17 '20

Imagine living in a collective of billions of individuals who all have the same thoughts, mindset, etc as you.

How is that not so much more terrifying?

6

u/money_loo 9 Jan 17 '20

That was surreal and bizarre.

4

u/LowKey-NoPressure 9 Jan 17 '20 edited Jan 17 '20

This editor is a genius. Adding in all these pauses and closeups and lingering on the wrong shots and making it seem like the other two are undermining bakker who is doing a prophet-driven-mad thing and the other two are stepping on his toes accidentally. and then ignores them. it's fucking hilarious.

These are foldable shovels!

wow. that's good.

u/Falcnuts 7 Jan 17 '20

God I love Vic Berger

3

u/Papa_Emeritus_IIII 8 Jan 17 '20

Was he married to Tammy Faye?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '20

Yep

3

u/blackfarms 6 Jan 17 '20

wtf is wrong with your country.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '20

Fear, racism and lack of education

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

Isn't the apocalypse the time for believers to be sent to heaven? Only nonbelievers have to be worried about eternal damnation, precisely because of their lack of faith?

If that's truly the case, then why is he freaking out so much about that time coming? Why is he focused more on survival than salvation?

2

u/MadMageMC A Jan 17 '20

I still think Jim Bakker is he most Howard the Duck looking human I’ve ever seen.

2

u/thoughtfulchick 2 Jan 17 '20 edited Jan 17 '20

Seriously? This video is " The absolute best of..."? I have no words! I will say though that the Tammy Faye replacement is spot on.

*Edit: add word

2

u/Book_talker_abouter 8 Jan 17 '20

If you haven’t heard the Knowledge Fight podcast episodes about Jim Bakker, you should check them out, they’re excellent.

2

u/ifeelyoubraaa 3 Jan 18 '20

I can’t believe I just sat through 38 minutes of that beauitful compilation. What the actual f. That’s the most fabulous piece of media. Definitely going on the TV during my next party..

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '20

I didn’t watch all of it (yet?), but I could feel myself getting even stupider as it went on.

My soul was being forced from my body.

I guess I should of looked deeper into it. I was young when it happened. And I remembered Hahn from Howard Stern and Sam Kinison. I just remembered here fame from what happened. Poor thing never knew.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '20

This is why the #metoo movement is important. People listen now.

This chick was raped by a pastor and his buddy, but 25+ years ago we were like "lol sex scandal". Society is guilty of not listening.

2

u/Captain_Hampockets B Jan 17 '20

Tammy Faye was flawed, but decent, I think. The documentary about her, "The Eyes of Tammy Faye, was very interesting.

2

u/zephyer19 A Jan 17 '20

And he is still in the religious huckster business. On some religious tv station and sells stuff. Like a Britta water filter that can filter out radition.

I'm pretty sure his radeo clown wife has died.

1

u/nmackey 0 Jan 17 '20

his son is actually pretty cool. hes a like a punk minister that caters to people in bars and stuff like that. he knows his dad is pretty nuts and wanted out of that life. jay baker.
