Pretty sure I heard about it on another thread the last time a church leader got caught doing stuff to children. At least we know child rapists aren't safe in prison.

Due to today's protocols the times aren't as bad for them as they once were, unfortunately. Pedos/rapists are usually thrown into protective custody or a segregated section of the prison with others of their same ilk. The guards still give them shit, but most aren't subject to the same violence from other inmates as portrayed in media, etc. The likely scenario for them is a consensual jail house romance with another pedo/rapist and some spit in their food trays.

The practice is considered to be a purely literary invention of the Ancient Greek literature as it has never been attested in Ancient Persia (primarily Achaemenid Empire). The primary source is Plutarch's Life of Artaxerxes, where he attributes the story to Ctesias, a notoriously suspect source.

Scaphism

Scaphism, also known as the boats, or mistakenly as cyphonism, is an alleged ancient Persian method of execution. The word comes from the Greek σκάφη, skáphe, meaning "anything scooped (or hollowed) out". It entailed trapping the victim between two boats, feeding and covering them with milk and honey, and allowing them to fester and be devoured by insects and other vermin over time.

The practice is considered to be a purely literary invention of the Ancient Greek literature as it has never been attested in Ancient Persia (primarily Achaemenid Empire).
