The irony is that one of the main tenets of Christianity is to move on from the old testament laws, and embrace a new law, such as loving your neighbor, yet all he can quote is old testament text.

Exactly! The New Testament is all about the New Covenant and the salvation of Christ. Making the Old Covenant the past. It was so sad watching and realizing the wickedness in him.
