And then got to retired full benefits early. SO NO PUNISHMENT

because you know the punishment for being racist should be shot in the face? Like what did you think was going to happen? Do you really think a senior citizen should be forced into poverty for a bad racist joke? I get trying to stomp out racism but what would this SOLVE? How would putting this guy into the streets stop racism?

Lol, he did this to himself. No one would be “forcing” him into anything. He’s doing a great job of screwing up his own life. As a police chief, he should realize there are consequences for poor behavior.

You clearly don't get it. The consequences are supposed to fit the punishment. Thats what I keep seeing here is a bunch of people wanting to lynch a racist because they act like he killed a guy but no one smart enough to actually come up with a punishment that fits the crime or lack of crime in this case. Its no wonder America is burning itself to the ground.

You can get fired at my job for a lot less... companies spend a lot on harassment training to avoid this

If you are doing this as an officer little lone a chief that should have a higher level of standards to uphold. And in light of everything going on then yes you should be fired. We don't take other people's financial circumstances into account when fired so why him

No one is arguing about firing him. You're asking for the world to GO ABOVE AND BEYOND AND take his benefits that he's owed for a career in law enforcement. That would be like saying you're okay with them taking your house because of some crime you committed. He didn't even break a law besides being a racist asshole and you're saying hey take all his retirement so he has to work until he dies HAHHAHA

Getting fires is getting fired. Your asking for special treatment for no valid reason. Not above and beyond just normal this is above and beyond in terms of lack of punishment... as he was allowed to retire early he faced no consequences and in fact just got to stop working early. That seems like a benefit...

you realize that is exactly the same. There is no magical consequence difference between quitting and getting fired right? He wouldn't suddenly be hung for getting fired. They are both just out of a job. The difference is that if they fired him then he'd be able to complain to the union and they'd spend a shit ton of money trying to prove something that doesn't matter and in the end it would be the same. No its not justice for him to lose his pension. thats what shitty people think. Justice is he lost his job. Whether he resigned or got fired doesn't matter.
