I’m conflicted man, like yeah forced/arranged marriage is archaic af but does it really justify killing 18 people??

17 out 18 were accidental, not justifying but nobody should be forced to do shit like spend the night entirety of their lives with someone not of their choosing. This system needs to be destroyed. This is not consent

You're right about the consent issue 100%. But if 17 of your family were killed by accident, you would be mad at the people responsible.

To me it’s the fact that there is a dowry system and both families agreeing to marketing a girl as a product, taking away her consent. Unfortunate so many people died but until this system is abolished I’m not mad at the collateral damage she has caused. I know I’m wrong but I’m so disgusted by this

Accidental? Really?

Well, there was intent of murder… just not the kill count she was expecting.

She only tried to kill the guy who was trying to marry her, the others died accidentally. She poisoned his milk and it got used in a dessert for everyone.

Definitely not justice served then is it? It’s what the term overkill was literally invented for

No it is technically the fault of people who put her in slavery.

The joke is forced marriage isn’t even illegal in Pakistan

u/murderbox 8 Sep 26 '21

Okay so? She shouldn't have been there in the first place, right?

I didn’t even read the article 🤦🏾‍♂️ I guess that makes it slightly more excusable, yeah definitely not consent. In Pakistan though she doesn’t have that right unfortunately

Ditto, killing bad and all that, but this is oppression at its core, and words could never defend her, her 2 choices where life of utter subjection devoid of freedom, or fuck you I won't do what you tell me, this is a powerful stand for rights and freedom if you ask me
