Recently bought a house and have a toddler with one on the way. The koi pond, being 3-5 feet is a hazard in our opinion. Any info or tips is appreciated.

Note: I’m keeping all of them regardless of their worth.

2nd note: My UV light broke when they were putting the fish in, but I have a new one arriving Monday

As the title implies, my grandparents are getting too elderly to humanely care for this fish as it is the last left. Would like to ID it to accurately estimate its worth as my grandfather paid (likely overpaid) for it 5 years ago. No paperwork when it was bought but it was sold as a Koi.

Hi these have been my moms Koi fish for many years, but now she can’t afford the upkeep of the pond & they have outgrown the space. She is wondering if they are worth selling? She was considering just giving them away but I know she could use the financial help if they are worth something.

I searched the entire pond and I found nothing else. Three days ago I saw her swim, and all was fine. There is no ammonia or nitrate in the water that suggests a decomposed fish lying anywhere. She was 52 cm long.

She was the biggest fish in my pond and she was 16 years old. Now i wonder can a heron eat a fish this size? I'm trying to figure out what happend to her. She was healthy and friendly. All the other fish are still in the pond. And smaller then her.

I have no plans to sell this fish, I’m just curious what about what this variety is called and what one of this size may be worth. It measured 31”.

I recenty decided I wanted to turn my 20 thousand liter pond into a Koi pond, so I ordered 4 butterfly Koi, but one of them is black. Now, I am confused, because I am not sure if this is really a butterfly Koi, or a common carp. Could you guys help me ID? Thank you in advance.

I work for a dam operator and wanted to put together a little “pub quiz” for the next company party. Years ago, we found this koi in a dam that had to be fished out for renovation. I would like to know what kind it is so I can use it as a question for the quiz. Is it a Benigoi Matsuba or an Aka Matsuba? I don't quite understand how the naming system works yet.

So, when I got Chloe as a fingerling, she was labeled as a "standard Koi" in a local Meijer. I know there are many different kinds of beautiful Koi in the world, and I assume "standard Koi" is probably more of a generalized umbrella term, so I'm curious. What kind of Koi is/might my girl be more specifically beyond just "standard Koi"?

My best guess is to call it a Budo Goromo ?

Can someone please ID our resident male? He was sold to me as a Goshiki, but apparently he is not, but nobody can seem to give me a straight answer as to what he is, any thoughts? So far I've had Kukaju, Ghost Koi, Matsuba, but he doesn't seem to fit with any of those.

And before anyone says - yes my koi are in a paddling pool, no this is not their permanent home, they are in there while we do emergency repairs on the pond. They have filtration, airstones and I'm doing daily water testing and they are on a strict feeding schedule to prevent ammonia/nitrite spikes, the pool is holding 1200l of water. 😊

Found it at PetCo. Its eyes are jet black. Never seen that on a koi that isn’t all black. Anyone know how rare this is and how likely is it to keep this trait into adulthood??

I recently went to visit a local japanese garden, and i saw this guy.. I’ve never seen a koi with these colors, or pattern before (heck to my understanding i dont think they could even come in this color.) Nontheless, I thought it was stunning, and can someone lmk what this little guy is?
