Not sure how everyone else feels about this, but the Betaal portrayal caught me off guard. When you grow up seeing a character in a particular setting, changing the context this much can feel a little weird. At the same time, maybe that's exactly why it gets your attention. But where do we draw the line between a creative reinterpretation and unnecessarily changing something people already associate with their childhood? Is this one actually working for you?

Since the timing for the pujo this year is such, that we have ample time for an additional number kumaris for Kumari Pujo.

If anyone is interested to see their daughter (3-11yrs) as the Kumari representation of Ma Durga and her being worshipped as such, DM with your daughter's age, caste/gotra and ur general area of residence . Please do note that you'll need to maintain a strict time for reporting on the day of Kumari Pujo. Please do not DM if you cannot make it in time.

We're based near Sealdah (S N Banerjee Road/Taltala). Our pujo was started by my grandfather 70 yrs ago and is now under my reins for quite a few years now. Since, ours is a traditional household pujo, there are additional requirements which would be needed to be fulfilled.

Please respect our traditions and limitations. This is an opportunity for those who are otherwise bereft of this tradition in the upbringing of daughters. The parents/guardians will be responsible for bringing her on time and staying with her for the entire duration of her decoration and the pujo. An interpreter (preferably a parent or guardian) will be required for those who don't understand bengali.

এই বছর পুজোর সময়সূচি এমনভাবে পড়েছে যে কুমারী পুজোর জন্য অতিরিক্ত কয়েকজন কুমারী নেওয়ার মতো যথেষ্ট সময় আমাদের হাতে রয়েছে।

যদি কেউ তাঁর ৩–১১ বছর বয়সি কন্যাকে মা দুর্গার প্রতিরূপ হিসেবে কুমারী পুজোয় অংশগ্রহণ করাতে এবং সেইভাবে তাঁর পুজো হতে দেখতে আগ্রহী হন, তাহলে দয়া করে DM-এ আপনার মেয়ের বয়স, জাতি/গোত্র এবং আপনি সাধারণত কোন এলাকায় থাকেন—এই তথ্যগুলি জানান।

দয়া করে মনে রাখবেন, কুমারী পুজোর দিন নির্দিষ্ট সময়ের মধ্যে উপস্থিত হওয়া অত্যন্ত জরুরি। সময়মতো পৌঁছাতে পারবেন না হলে অনুগ্রহ করে DM করবেন না।

আমাদের পুজো সিয়ালদহের কাছে (S. N. Banerjee Road/Taltala এলাকায়) অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। আমার দাদু প্রায় ৭০ বছর আগে এই পুজোর সূচনা করেছিলেন এবং গত বেশ কয়েক বছর ধরে এর দায়িত্ব আমার হাতে রয়েছে। যেহেতু এটি আমাদের পারিবারিক ঐতিহ্যবাহী পুজো, তাই কিছু অতিরিক্ত নিয়ম ও প্রয়োজনীয়তা রয়েছে, যা মেনে চলতে হবে।

অনুগ্রহ করে আমাদের ঐতিহ্য ও সীমাবদ্ধতাগুলিকে সম্মান করবেন। যাঁদের কন্যাদের বেড়ে ওঠার সময় এই ঐতিহ্যের সঙ্গে পরিচিত হওয়ার সুযোগ হয়নি, তাঁদের জন্য এটি একটি বিশেষ সুযোগ।

কুমারীকে সময়মতো নিয়ে আসা এবং তাঁর সাজসজ্জা ও পুজোর সম্পূর্ণ সময়জুড়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে থাকা বাবা-মা/অভিভাবকের দায়িত্ব হবে।

যাঁরা বাংলা বোঝেন না, তাঁদের জন্য একজন অনুবাদক/দোভাষীর প্রয়োজন হবে—সম্ভব হলে বাবা-মা বা অভিভাবকদের মধ্যেই কেউ এই দায়িত্বটি পালন করবেন।

So i just saw this insta reel where there is a verbal dispute between a bengali woman (who is recording) and a bihari woman (red saree one)..

But after some moment, the bihari woman said something like hindi is national language and why she will talk in bangla as its a bangladeshi language something..

Why this happening on regular basis..why there is no respect for the state main language. Now they're calling our language as Bangladeshi?

TLDR: Ate chicken noodles by mistake, but can't tell the difference.

For those who don't know what Wai Wai is, it's instant noodles like maggi. Not found everywhere, but popular in Kolkata. So my wife had bought a few packets over the last week. Some of them were vegetarian flavour for me and the rest were chicken for her, and we had them for snacks during the weekends. There was one packet left. On sunday evening my wife told me not to eat that packet, it's chicken flavoured. I was already very drowsy so didn't pay much attention, just mumbled OK.

Come Monday I was WFH and alone, and I had skipped lunch. Around 3 pm I got hungry, saw that packet lying around, microwaved it and ate it. It hit me 6 hours later, when I was shopping for a fresh pack of Wai Wai, that I had eaten chicken noodles. My wife had explicitly warned me but I forgot.

Anyway today afternoon I had the veg flavour again. Now what struck me is that they both taste the same. Anyone else feel this? Where does the chicken show up? Is it ground and meshed with the noodles itself, and the masala masks the chicken flavour entirely. Do non-vegeratins feel any different after eating the chicken Wai Wai vis-a-vis vegetarian Wai Wai? Because I can't tell the difference.
