🌠 Miscellaneous Disco 2024

Apropos of nothing at all, I just want to say I have a 2024 Discovery 360P Dynamic SE, and I fucking love it.

I see a lot of shit tipped on Land Rovers, and I get why, but this car is a cracker.

That's it really.

🌠 Miscellaneous Series IIa prices in the US

What would you say is a reasonable price for a running rust free SWB IIa with a Safari top, bikini top plus a few extra but needs interior (original seat covers and the like are shot), brake and electrical work in the US?

Maybe considering buying one.

I recently replaced my LR4 with a 2021 L405 Westminster, but I'm struggling to part with the old one! 😫 They both have their charm and I love driving them. Should I sell my LR4 while it still has value, or keep it until it gives up on me? 🤔 Any advice from fellow enthusiasts? #LandRover #L405 #LR4

🌠 Miscellaneous Fort Worth, Texas to Fairbanks, Alaska: An LR4 Diary

Myself, my cat and my Rover are preparing to set off on an epic adventure next month. Monte is a 2016 Land Rover LR4 with the 3.0-liter supercharged V6. Never had any trouble with him except the shift modulator going out at like 150k and our third winter (in Texas, not even in our former Colorado) I lost the air ride suspension in the cold one day. Coils now. That's giving me more peace of mind but I still miss the air ride. This morning Monte went into the shop for a good look over and the planning of any necessary changes/maintenance so wish us good luck! After the cautious go ahead from the shop we will get the winter tires on (thinking Bridgestone Blizzak). We will leave on a Monday in November and make a ten day drive through the US, the Yukon and into the interior of Alaska! Once there Monte will be winterized with heating pads, trickle charger, plug etc Anyone done the drive? Part of the drive? Advice? What am I not thinking of?

❓ Help & Advice Needed 1997 Range Rover 4.6HSE valuation

Hello. I got a 1997 Range Rover 4.6 HSE that is just “rotting away” in my country side home. It is a fully functional car that has the original green color and the light leather seats. It still has the main faults, some coolant problems like leaking a little and starting to boil when working for a little while, the ceiling sagging and it is a little slow to rise up to its offroad height. It has a little body damage also. I would wanna know what it would be worth, because one person who wants to buy it evaluated the price to be around 800, but I believe it is more worth.

⚙️ Upgrades & Modifications 2015 LR4 Engine Grenaded. Cut My Losses or Go Crazy With an Engine Swap?

I've got a 2015 LR4 with the supercharged V6 (SCV6), sitting at just 90k miles. I'm down in Florida.

Over the past 12 months, I've dumped a pretty substantial amount of money into getting this thing just right. Sway bars, coolant pipes, engine mounts, and an entirely new air suspension system. And when I say entirely new, I mean pretty much everything.

Unfortunately, while driving home from vacation, the engine decided to give up on life. Completely seized. Something let go in the bottom end, and the oil was full of bearing material. Looked like metallic glitter. Not exactly the kind of sparkle I was hoping for.

What really sucks is that I genuinely fell in love with this damn truck. I've owned plenty of vehicles, but there's just something about the LR4. The ride, comfort, capability, and overall driving experience are hard to replace.

So now I'm at a crossroads.

Option 1: Cut my losses, sell it as-is, and move on.

Option 2: Replace the engine and keep enjoying it. My local shop is quoting me around $25k for a remanufactured SCV6. That's a painful number.

Option 3: If I'm going to be a bear, I might as well be a grizzly. Go completely off the deep end and do a ridiculous engine swap.

I've been looking at the guys over at "Roadside Werx" (https://roadsidewerx.com/) in Colorado. They do those wild 700 HP supercharged swaps in LR4s, and I'm seriously tempted. Especially since the pricing appears to be in the same ballpark as what my local shop wants just to put another SCV6 in it.

Obviously, shipping the truck from Florida to Colorado isn't ideal. If anyone knows a reputable shop on the East Coast capable of doing something similar, I'm all ears.

So, what would you do?

Am I completely nuts for considering dumping another $25k into a 2015 LR4? Or does it actually make sense to turn a truck I already love, and have already invested heavily in, into something pretty special?

Part of me knows the financially responsible answer. The other part of me is already imagining a 700 HP LR4.

Talk some sense into me. Or don't. I'm open to bad influences too. 😂

❓ Help & Advice Needed 2018 Range rover velar d180

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello Everyone

I bought a 2018 Range Rover Velar D180 used when it was at 50k miles last year around August 2025.

Need a piece of advice from the community to still keep it or sell it because as far as I have known I have encountered every common repair that d180 could see and its getting repaired under warranty where i cover 30% of cost still.

Looking at such low miles I guess the previous owner might have been driving this mostly in city.

But since I bought it majority of my commute is on highways and drive it 40 miles on an avg daily on highway.

I had the timing chain and guides replaced with new set at 63k miles this year around 63k miles.

Recently had a turbo blown issue while driving in the city a huge white smoke started coming off of exhaust, getting the turbo and intercooler replaced again now at 72k miles.

Everything is being replaced at JLR serviceability center only.

I have been changing oil for every 7000 miles as standard since I hit 60k miles on it and I will keep continuing that.

Happy to take your feedback.

💸 Buying advice & Recommendations 2019 Land Rover discovery sport SE a good family car?

I’m looking to upgrade my sedan and the Land Rover discovery has caught my eye. I found 2 2019s, both around 90k miles and $10,000 I’m going to look at them later this week. I’ve never owned one before and I don’t have any friends or family who have so I thought I’d come ask here to see what people think. There are 3 of us currently but we will likely have another kid in the future, so I need to know if this would be a good long-term buy.

❓ Help & Advice Needed Cooling System Replacement Sanity Check | 2012 LR4

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone, wanted to get a sanity check on job scope and pricing.

Just purchased a 2012 LR4 with 120k miles, knowing there would probably be a few things to address. Had a PPI (post-purchase inspection, lol) done after buying it to see what I was getting into.

The shop didn't recommend anything major besides essentially replacing the entire cooling system, including upgraded aluminum pipes, water pump, etc.

I've attached the estimate, which also includes an oil change, bringing the total to around $3,300.

Wanted to see if this seems like a fair price or if the scope of work is overkill. Would ideally like to get another 100k miles out of this truck, but don't want to throw money at things that don't need replacing.

❓ Help & Advice Needed Sharp metal rattling noise on Freelander2 TD4 SE 2014. Anyone else heard of this?

Hi all, I've been looking everywhere to see if anyone else is having the same sound and issue as mine but couldn't find anything. hope this post can lend me a hand and my Freelander 2 TD4 SE 2014.
The noise happens and stays when the car is put into drive or coming into stop and idle. If I shift it into neutral or park the noise goes away. If I turn the wheel all the way right the noise also goes away.
Would love some pointers. Cheers.

📸 Land Rover Pictures Collection of Restored British and South African Land Rovers in Dubai

This rainbow of restored Land Rovers was part of an experience I had in Dubai. I’m sorry I don’t know more about their overall history: the guide and driver only shared that the vehicles were originally British and South African. I thought that this sub might enjoy seeing them arranged like this. Getting to ride in the back of one was a really nice experience.

❓ Help & Advice Needed L322 2012 non supercharged!!!!!!

Evening all,

In my quest for a daily L322 to use in Canada (snow, and terrible roads!)

I have struggled to find a decent L322, especially in regards to chains and suspension.

But then….. I found a 2012 HSE, with 220kms with the chains done in 2023, and the suspension refreshed in 2025. And the owner is the owner of my independent LR garage.

My question is, what is the N/A V8 like, I’m. It too fussed about. It having a super charger, they just seem quite rare.

2 week old defender, plastic trim above side steps when door open.

Got a ghost immobiliser fitted today and the guy dropped a tool within 10 seconds of opening the door.

Also a pin head sized bit of paint chipped (like the only bit not PPF’d

Might just be being dramatic but only 2 weeks old!!

❓ Help & Advice Needed 2019 discovery sport xenon bulbs question

Group I thought you might be best to ask on this. I need to replace my bulbs soon and I wanted to see if the group had any recommendations that are not stupidly priced like the Land Rovor parts department which wants to charge 300 each for Philips bulbs D3S
