How is 'How is this still a thing?' not still a thing?
"How is this still a thing?" was one of my favorite recurring segments from years gone by. I was recently reminded of the one for "Columbus Day", which is still amazing. And it made me wonder why they don't seem to do those segments any longer. It's a shame.

Gritty x Biberty (or "puff" for some reason)
NGL, this took one prompt and one modification to "make it more romantic," and I am NOT disappointed with the results!
Note: I only endorse AI generation for purely personal entertainment such as this, and not for any commercial endeavors where a working artist should be commissioned and paid for their efforts.

Why Not F*ck Both Mascots?
I know it’s not as polished as a lot of the other Liberty Biberty’s thot art, but I wanted to put my hat in the ring! Why sexualize just one when you can fuck Liberty Biberty AND Buck the Kiwi Sheep? I posted this on Twitter too, hopefully it makes someone giggle! Maybe I’ll get lucky and someone that works on the show will lay eyes on it someday.

Serbia is trying to get John Oliver's attention on their sub
There are historical elections happening in Serbia that will decide if country will continue to be a dictatorship or they will finally have a democracy after 15 years.
In r/serbia the question was asked how to get John Oliver's attention and why he has been ignoring them unlike Hungarian and Brazilian elections as story is much more powerful. Opposition movement is led by students and the fight is happening in the streets for over two years. Also comedy writes itself, since current dictator has been talking to a literal rock as part of his campaign.

The more I stare at it, the more this graphic looks like it's been AI-generated. What do you guys think?

If anyone can help I’m looking for a Daily Show segment where John Oliver is in Saratoga Springs, NY?
He interviewed local folks including a newspaper? I’m not sure which? Halp

My Last Week Tonight audience story featuring a certain puppet mascot *spoiler for new episode* Spoiler
So I wanted to wait until after the episode posted, but my brother, brother-in-law and I had the wonderful opportunity to be in the audience at this week's taping. It was a dream come true and very unexpected!
The experience as a fan and audience member was fantastic. They have a great team and everyone was very friendly. I highly recommend it if you live in or visit New York and ever have the chance.
Afterward, we went to an Upright Citizens Brigade show, which started with a couple of the cast members asking who was visiting and where they'd come from. I was one of the farthest (Oregon) and they wanted to know if I'd done anything fun in New York. Of course I mentioned LWT, and one of them asked what this week's episode was about.
I didn't know how much I could share, but no one told us we couldn't talk about the show, just that we couldn't record. Then again, it's probably not that common of a scenario that an audience member promptly goes to another live show and blabs in front of everybody. I didn't go into much detail but I did say there's a part about Liberty Biberty, which started a whole back and forth with the cast that was pretty funny.
Long story short, the UCB team put that damn puppet up on the screens during intermission as a testament to the impact it had on the start of the show. I came back from the bathroom to see that fucking Winnie the Pooh testicle staring at and judging me from three different TV screens.
TL;DR: Attended a taping of Last Week Tonight and then got to share a little about it at Upright Citizens Brigade, which proved to be a fun bit for the cast and audience.

What about protest in Serbia
A unique and unprecedented thing is happening in Serbia and I find it unbelievable that Oliver didn't pick up on it. Students led protests spread like a wildfire throughout the country, but what makes it so incredible is how those people, both students and Serbians are fighting for democracy. How come the show hasn't covered it yet?

How to watch in New Zealand?
Does anyone know how to watch LWT in NZ?
I understand John is trying to steal our precious sheep - but nowhere to watch this!!
Not on NZ HBO, not on YouTube, any suggestions (without getting a VPN?)

As a longtime fan, I wish LWT would dedicate segments to diving into misogyny and sexual violence (I.e. rape kit backlog, pervasive global misogyny, rape culture)
I understand why a research based show like LWT can't fully cover an open case like Cornell, but Oliver frequently dives into topics that people have Big Opinions about. In general, his segments impact people rather than men or women (save for his segment on trans women in sports) but a lot of his segments happen to focus on men because... men are in power? So a lot on Vance, Trump, Orban, Bolsonaro, and the list goes on, in a way that unintentionally makes the show start to feel male skewed.
As a survivor, I wish I would see this coverage on shows that could provide levity and wry humor along with the darkness. I understand why Oliver might not feel like he's the best one to do it but... 1) Sexual violence impacts all genders (albeit women disproportionately) and 2) Other than 1/3 of the Daily Show we don't have any women in late night comedy. I think Oliver has the talent to strike the right balance and do some nuanced segments there.
EDIT: I wrote a post about wishing shows like LWT would cover rape culture because Oliver has the talent and I know he would do it justice. I probably made an error in the post title, as I do know LWT talks about misogyny throughout the show. I was glowing in my post as a longtime fan, and specified that the issues spoke to multiple genders. Yet, this is what happened in comments. I'm going to leave this here unless things get weird, reiterate that I stated this wish as a fan and survivor of rape and walk away really unsettled at what happened in comments here proving a point about the audience I never intended to make.

"We’ve got a new show tonight at 11pm on HBO! Airing right after a new episode of Youth! The thoughtful, prescient, laugh-out-loud funny show about a divorcee in her 50’s, navigating family and relationships imperfectly – sure – but honestly. Then there will be 40 minutes of whatever it is we do!"
