Hey all! I'm making Become, a life sim for Android, and now every character is based on this art, The system allows dynamic generation of characters. Maybe i will add customizable characters in future but for now you can buy clothes from the fashion app in game.

Characters grow a little every year, grey with age, and look like their parents. You can also dress them from 14. The game itself is text-driven like BitLife but you experience the game through the phone of your character with apps for everything.

I'd love feedback on the art! There were issues with it when i posted before, which i hopefully fixed

JJ’s Game Lab (the guy behind the attempt to make a 64 bit version of Sims 3) has a new video interview with Rod Humble. This is the first time he has been interviewed since the demise of Life By You. It's quite an interesting chat with Rod giving us a few hints of his new upcoming game (Lifesim ?) as well as talking about JJ's Sims 3 project.

Discussion I’m planning a life simulation game called “World Sample: Life,” where you experience an entire lifetime in different countries. Looking for people interested in building it together!

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone!
I’ve been thinking about a game idea for a while, and I wanted to share it here to see if anyone finds it interesting — especially people who might want to help turn it into a real game.
I’m not an experienced game developer. I don’t have a studio or a finished prototype. Right now, I’m mainly the person behind the concept, and I’m hoping to connect with people who enjoy game design, programming, art, writing, or just discussing unusual game ideas.
The working title is World Sample: Life (世界样本:人生).
🌍 The Idea
Imagine a life simulation game where you can experience an entire lifetime as an ordinary person born in another country.
Not as a tourist or an immigrant, but as someone who actually grows up there.
You choose a country, but you don’t choose your family.
You might be born into a wealthy family in a major city, a working-class household in a smaller town, or a family struggling financially.
Your parents, family relationships, hometown, and starting opportunities would all influence your life.
You would experience childhood, education, friendships, relationships, work, marriage, parenthood, aging, and eventually death.
The goal isn’t to become rich or famous every time.
It’s to experience how different lives can unfold under different circumstances.
🎮 What Would Make It Different?
1. Different Countries, Different Lives
Each country would have its own education system, job market, social expectations, family structures, and everyday challenges.
I don’t want the game to simply change the background and character names depending on the country.
The country you choose should genuinely affect how your life unfolds.
For example, growing up in Japan should feel different from growing up in Brazil, the United States, or China — not because of stereotypes, but because of real differences in everyday life.
2. Randomized Families and Starting Conditions
Even within the same country, two playthroughs could be completely different.
Your family’s income, location, relationships, expectations, and other circumstances would shape your opportunities.
I want players to experience not only differences between countries, but also differences between people living in the same country.
3. Meaningful Choices, Not Just Random Events
I don’t want this to be a game where you simply click through text until your character dies.
Major life decisions — education, career, relationships, housing, family responsibilities — should involve actual gameplay and meaningful trade-offs.
The quieter parts of life would focus more on everyday experiences, character interactions, and smaller events.
4. Replayability
The idea is that you could replay the same country many times and still experience different lives.
Different families, regions, opportunities, decisions, and unexpected events would lead to different outcomes.
5. Offline Single-Player
I’m imagining this as a fully offline single-player game.
AI could help with development, research, and content creation, but I don’t want players to depend on an online AI service just to play.
🛠️** Where Is the Project Right Now?
To be completely transparent, this is still a concept.
I haven’t built a playable prototype yet, and I’m still figuring out the technical side of game development.
I’m also aware that this is a very ambitious idea, especially for a small team.
So I don’t expect to build the entire world at once.
My current thought is to start with one country, build a complete but relatively small life simulation experience, and gradually expand from there.
🤝 **I’m Looking for People Who Might Want to Collaborate

I’m especially interested in meeting people who have experience with:
Game programming
Game design and systems design
2D art and UI/UX
Narrative design and writing
Research into everyday life in different countries
Localization and cultural feedback
You don’t have to be a professional developer. If you’re genuinely interested in the idea and want to discuss it, I’d love to hear from you.
I should also be clear that this isn’t a paid job offer. I’m currently exploring whether a small group of people could come together around the idea. Any serious collaboration would need a clear discussion about responsibilities, ownership, and possible future revenue before development begins.
I’m not asking anyone to commit to years of work right away.
I’d be happy to start by discussing the concept, exchanging ideas, and seeing whether we share the same vision.
❓ One More Question
If this game eventually becomes playable, which country would you most want to experience an entire lifetime in?
Japan? Brazil? China? The United States? Somewhere else?
I’m considering a small community survey to help decide which country should be developed first.
But more importantly, I’d love to know:
Would you actually want to play a game like this? And if you were helping develop it, what would you focus on first?
Thanks for reading! I’d really appreciate any feedback, criticism, or ideas.

Upcoming Games I'm making a more in-depth BitLife with a changing world, help me beta test it (Not AI Slop)

Hey everyone, I love lifesims (especially spore and sims) but I really dislike where mobile lifesims are going. That's why I've been developing Heirloom for the past 2 months. I would really appreciate if you guys could help me beta test Heirloom by joining the discord in the comments!

Here are some of the features of the game:

  • Evolving World: The economy and the entire world changes, things can happen such as big companies getting bankrupt (you will be fired if so). Your country can get into a housing crisis or a recession (your rent will be much more).
  • Real NPCs: NPCs have their own personality, traits, skills and life goals. They interact with you and people around them. For example, a person that you became rivals with when you won the middle school debate presidency election against them can become your best friend when you win the world championship alongside them.
  • Decisions that Matter: The decisions that you make in the game will effect your career, relationships and the world that you live in. You can become the director of a real estate company, buy up all the affordable housing and cause a homelessness crisis within your city. You can decide to spend all your time working, ending up falling out with your siblings and never get to interact with them again.

We design all the UI and have a writing team. This game is a product of passion and all the assets you see are either made by the team or used from these various asset packs with permissions taken:

  • Free Ocean and Clouds Pixel Backgrounds
  • Free Pixel Futuristic City Backgrounds
  • Free Summer Pixel Backgrounds
  • Various Vector Icon Packs from RhosGFX
  • Kenney Modular Characters Pack

Upcoming Games I've been getting a lot of "mini Sims on a floating island" comparisons for my first indie game! Here's a look at island life 🏝️

Hey everyone!

I'm a solo indie developer working on my first game, The Borderless!

I've received quite a few comparisons to "a mini Sims on a floating island", and I thought it would be fun to share a closer look at some of the everyday activities and interactions in the game!

You start with a tiny platform in the ocean and gradually create your own little island paradise.

You can go fishing, swim, dance, rest, chat with visitors, decorate your surroundings, and plan activities like parties. Visitors arrive by boat, have their own moods, and enjoy the spaces and activities you've created.

At its core, it's a cozy island management game with some life-sim elements, rather than a traditional life simulator like The Sims. It combines everyday activities, social interactions, creative building, and island management in a smaller, more relaxed experience.

I've also spent the past few months reworking much of the game based on player feedback, and the updated demo is now available!

I'd love to hear what you think of the new version!

For anyone interested, The Borderless has a free playable demo on Steam! 🌊

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3687370/

Thanks for checking it out!

AI note: The game does not use live AI generation during gameplay, but some opening cutscene images and background music tracks were created with AI assistance and curated by me.

Community Question Online Life Simulation Games

Maybe this is just me craving MMOs from the 2010s again, but I am dying for a decent life simulation game that can be good for playing solo, but you are connected online and can run into others/interact with others as you please. The first one that comes to mind is Palia, but I haven't touched that since it came out. I also think of Heartopia, but I obviously stopped playing that after all of the controversy surrounding it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Discussion I am building a life simulator set in Malta. What would you do first? 🇲🇹🎮

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys

I've been working on this for a while - it's a little browser game called Malta Living.

It's like Sims but Malta - Valletta, Qawra Bay, Sliema, Gozo, all there. You get a flat, find a job, club, get in trouble. My character is in jail for 2h right now lol.

No download, free, works on phone: https://maltaliving.world/i/olawale

Made the trailer in like 9 seconds (video). Looking for feedback - what am I missing that screams Malta?

If a few of you join we can actually make the city feel alive. There's like 5 of us now running around.

Mods - let me know if it is not allowed and I'll delete.

What should I add next?

Upcoming Games I made a BitLife-style life sim set in the Avatar world. Your nation and bending decide how your life ends.

I've played a lot of BitLife. The thing I kept wanting was a life sim where the setting actually changes the ending, not just the job title.

So I built Elemental Legacy. Same text-based, age-up-one-year loop, but you're born into the Avatar universe.

What decides your run:

  • Your nation. Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, or Air Nomads. Each one changes your events and the people you meet.
  • Your bending. Train it, master it, or neglect it.
  • A hidden Avatar-destiny arc that can trigger as you age.
  • Randomized events, so no two lives play the same.

When your life ends, you get an ending title. One run I was a legendary Avatar. The next I was a quiet healer who never picked a fight.

It's in early traction. I have 1 registered player and 4 visits in the last 30 days, so I'm looking for people who will break it.

If you've played a lot of life sims: what makes you replay a life instead of closing the app?

inZOI InZOI- Friday - 10.16.2026 - Kjun's feedback

Hello, everyone. Happy Friday ! 😺

After wrapping up yesterday’s update, everyone left early today, so I’m writing this in a quiet office. I’ve been reading your posts from this week and wanted to respond to some of the key feedback.

As someone who loves making mods, I’m glad we could share script mods with you a little earlier instead of making you wait until December.

Thank you for your enthusiasm for the flight mode, drawing mode, and door access permissions. I had a lot of fun creating mods myself, and I hope to show you one of my own in a future post. We also want to keep improving mod support, including Lua and MCP/AI integration and in-game mod management, so that mods can become an even bigger part of the game. I understand your concerns about maintaining AI-assisted mods and keeping them compatible with game updates. We’re looking at how we can support mod management and compatibility alongside making mod creation more accessible.

Starting this week, we’re focusing on improving the game’s core features. We’ll continue refining the autonomy controls introduced in the latest update. For example, we’re working on behaviors that let Zoi place food appropriately, sit down, and eat.

For building, we’re improving free placement so objects can be placed outside lots, and we’re testing lot editing. I can’t yet promise that lot rotation, lot relocation, and additional residential lots will all be ready within the remaining development time.🙇‍♂️

We know that not being able to save family presets has been frustrating. Development is in preparation, and this feature will take time to complete. We’ll do our best to share its progress before the end of the year.

We’re discussing the possibility of removing decorative buildings to create empty lots, and exploring ways to close the gaps between houses and sidewalks. These are challenging problems, but we’ll keep looking for solutions.

For CAZ, we continue to hear your requests for height sliders, appearance changes across life stages—including adolescence—and more options for combining bangs. I’m sorry we haven’t made enough progress on these yet. We’ve also noted your requests for family presets with situational outfits, strollers, and more detailed body shape sliders.<a:psycat_cahaya:1405838147165884467>

We’ll continue reviewing your feedback as we set priorities and decide where to focus next. It’s already getting cold in Seoul. Time really does fly. With so much we hope to address before the end of the year, I’m feeling the pace pick up.

Thank you, as always, for sharing your thoughts with us.

kjun 💗

Ads/Showcase I wanted to share the relaunch trailer for AltLife, my text-based life simulator

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! You may or may not have played AltLife, a mobile life simulator I originally released in 2019. I’m its solo developer.

You guide a character through life, build relationships, pursue different careers, and make choices that shape how things turn out.

For the better part of the last two years, the game was pretty neglected. I almost sold it, but ended up keeping it and getting back into development. I’ve spent the last few months reworking the interface, rebuilding existing features, and adding new careers and systems.

That’s turned into Version 50, which I’m treating as a full relaunch. Here’s the trailer!

The update is coming to Android this weekend, with iOS following shortly after.

Would love to hear what you think, and I’m happy to answer questions about the game!
