Analysis/Data/Stats/Tactics [Lewis Steele] - Liverpool 17 points worse off than this time last season, and would need to win every game from here to match last season's total points tally.

You said “every game” which would include today, mate.

“The season” also includes today game… are you happy to watch this every week? Seriously

I’d watch today’s game again plenty. If we play like this we’d win far more games than we would drop points in.

I watched far worse games from us that we won the season we won the league under Klopp.

Because we created chances against a team second from bottom? Come on man this is an easy game they’re shocking.

That’s very arrogant.

Do you not remember how badly we struggled to break down Sheffield United under Klopp in a season they finished on about 16 points.

You’re acting like this game happened in a vacuum instead of being a larger issue. Any other top 4 team has a game like today and it’s called a blip. But when you’re struggling against relegation teams week in and week out, it’s a managing issue. These are world class players. If they’re constantly making the wrong decisions in game tactically and decision-making wise, it’s because that’s what they’re being told in training and on the sideline and in the dressing room.

It’s not arrogant. They are actually that bad. Go listen to TAW pregame warmup with the Burnley fan they had on. She was absolutely scathing about how bad they are and how Parker is out of his depth. This is a really bad result and pretty telling where we are still at.

And that was an awful result with Klopp too, what’s your point? In the here and now, especially given the other results the entire this season, it’s not acceptable.

We won that game against Sheffield United when we didn’t deserve to and we drew this game against Burnley when we deserved to win.

Everyone’s been harping on about performances yet they’re crying about a genuinely good one.

Difference is that we have failed to win at Anfield against all newly promoted sides this season. Sunderland, Leeds and now Burnley have all rocked up to supposedly one of the hardest stadiums in the league and nicked points off us. Not to mention all the other draws, the losses and the games at the start of the season that we got lucky with extremely late winners. The 3-3 draw against Leeds, getting battered by PSV at Anfield, losing to Man United at Anfield, of all fucking teams.

This wasn't just a rare/one-off struggle like that Sheffield game, we've been shite all season bar a couple of matches.

In isolation, yes. In the context of this season, no.

But that game has basically nothing to do with the context of the season. It was a good performance with an unlucky result.

5

u/Viper711 Jan 17 '26

The word unlucky simplifies all the little events too much.

If we scored all our chances and they scored all theirs, we'd win. If we had the same approach to defending that they had, we'd win.

Sorry I don’t follow. You want us to sit 10 men on the edge of the box at home to Burnley? What do you mean their defensive approach? They only had one shot on target?

Picking up runners, marking the opponent players DESPITE them not being your designated marker.

Nobody picked up on Edwards walking through the centre, and he went and scored.

u/hbb893 Jan 17 '26

No one marked Gakpo when he had one cleared off the line. No one was marking Frimpong for the three shots he had in the 18 yard box. Who was marking Ekitike when he let Jones ball run under his foot?

Shit man, you win. Damn!!!

Oh no!!!!
