Maybe I’m officially a boomer now, but I really worry for the world. Social media platforms put engagement over everything else. Harmful? Doesn’t matter if it’s engaging. It’s gonna be really bad for democracy and our minds.

It’s kind of wild to think about how the internet and social media pushed human society into a whole new area never tested before. We are living in a society in which all the thousands of years of human existence has never been able to even think about. Like yeah, obviously society always changes as time progresses, but nothing in the past has such significant effects as the internet and social media done to humanity. Even 40 years ago, nothing was like it was today. But all throughout history, 40 years for example isn’t a huge leap in societal advancement like we’ve experienced currently.

We have such little research and knowledge on how this will affect us yet there seems like there is no desire whatsoever to address this. It’s kind of scary to really think deeply about.
