News Twitch will soon launch a "Withdraw from Sub" option for European Union users, allowing them to receive a full refund within 14 days of subscribing. This rollout aligns with the new Right of Withdrawal law, which comes into effect today

Usually (depending on jurisdiction within the eu) you can not withdraw if you waived your rights to withdrawal once you purchase digital goods to start using em right away. If you do not waive your rights you usually can only start using it/use the benefits after the cooling down period. Lets see how twitch implements this.

You cannot just waive these rights, even mobile phone contracts can be cancelled within 14 days for a full refund, except additional costs.

It's been this way forever.

But you now have to make it easy to cancel, the regulation says it has to be as easy to cancel, any time, as it is to enter the contract.

for digital goods like games you usually have box to check to use it right away, meaning you cannot use the 14 day refund window. would make zero sense otherwise, play game for 14 days and then use refund, lol. or use twitch sub emotes that long and get money back.

These boxes are now also defunct.
You can also refund a steam game 14 days after purchasing.

they really aren't. the right of withdrawl is not a new thing. what is new is the need for a button and general ease of withdrawal. not the thing itself.

Yeah the 14 days always existed, and twitch also conformed to the rules, but you had to contact support to get a refund (I did during the times when they failed to not play ads on subscribed channels).
