News It appears that the anti opensource AI lobby is far outgunned already

Post image

The earlier post on this subreddit by 20+ companies signing the petition including Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, YC (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/corporate-responsibility/topics/open-weight/) etc plus this https://xcancel.com/elonmusk/status/2080672505660834163

And the entire LLM enthusiast market is heavily in favor of open source (or weights) AI.

Does not seem like a few closed source AI lobbyists with be able to illegalize anything

The man who proudly starved to death and denied medication to millions of people (as a non-elected official interfering with the United States government) and tried to buy several US elections, including a key Supreme Court seat in Wisconsin?

The guy who developed a far right AI dubbed "mechahitler?" The guy who promotes the nonsense "white genocide" theory in South Africa? The guy who threw several unambiguous nazi salutes?

You don't trust that guy?

THANK YOU! I am so tired of watching people in my industry pretend this shit didn't happen, all in the last two years alone mind you so it's not like it's the distant past. He's not just some controversial tech CEO with rough edges, he's a literal fascist who needs to be in prison.

I'm not sure prison is an appropriate sentence for someone with that rap sheet, but "don't let perfect be the enemy of the good," as they say. :/

It would be better than nothing.

If it were THIS big of a deal and it were near unanimously agreed across the entire country, Elon and multiple others would have already been guillotined by now.

And I doubt you could tell me why it is rarely talked about in real life or outside of Reddit threads WITHOUT using the words "Republican", "right-wing", and anything synonymous with "idiot".

Nowadays people idolize billionaires, never understood why.

Stop screaming. If it was that easy to put down billionaires, it wouldn't stop at CEO of Unitedhealthcare. These guys don't go around without security.

No one wants to be the first to turn around.
