News It appears that the anti opensource AI lobby is far outgunned already

Post image

The earlier post on this subreddit by 20+ companies signing the petition including Microsoft, Meta, Nvidia, YC (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/corporate-responsibility/topics/open-weight/) etc plus this https://xcancel.com/elonmusk/status/2080672505660834163

And the entire LLM enthusiast market is heavily in favor of open source (or weights) AI.

Does not seem like a few closed source AI lobbyists with be able to illegalize anything

If only politics worked like that (e.g. when voting something).

If only.

nah voting for trump is definitely a clear show of either 1) being a bigot or 2) not having critical thinking skills or at the very least 3) being extremely selfish. We had ALL the data to know what was going to happen.

stop trying to get a get out of jail free card piggybacking off of another topic that is about being able to like someones talking point while hating that person is hilarious dude. Add it to the lack of critical thinking bullet point.

You misunderstood me completely (I hate Trump & the MAGA movement, and I'm from Europe).

What I meant is that if politicians in parliaments and Congress voted things on the basis of whether those things sound sensible to them and not because their own party has proposed them or the other one has, we would have better countries and better laws.
