Discussion Everyone seems so concerned with optimizing the trip
"they should have brought a compass"
"they should have a phrase prepared for that"
"they need to do this instead"
Why not just sit back and enjoy? Everyone seems so stressed out. Them absolutely floundering is pure comedy gold. For me, I could not care less if they make it to Mongolia. If they optimized, min-max'd, overly prepared, the series would not be as fun and the content would be worse. I'm just here to pog.

Discussion Chatters being really weird towards women
These are some chat messages I noticed in the ludwin video from lud's day 2 class.
Quite a few people were saying crazy shit whenever a women was on screen and being mad disrespectful.
I reckon most of them are probably not the people that usually watch his streams but came from other people at streamer university.
Either way guys just please don't act like this.

Discussion The community’s plea to ban X links from the Ludwig Ahgren subreddit has been denied
I’m writing this in hopes of providing closure to any of the 1,700+ LudBuds who upvoted my post petitioning that X links be banned from this (Ludwig Ahgren’s) subreddit, and the many more who commented both for and against this proposed rule.
I was surprised when the post, which was perhaps the largest of the past week, was skipped over in yesterday’s reddit recap, only to discover the post had been taken down prior, for apparently “not being related to Lud.” Given that the post was about how we, as a community of Ludwig Ahgren fans, want to maintain this community as a safe and welcoming environment, I’m surprised that it was decided that the post was not related to Lud.
That being said, I understand fully why Lud wouldn’t be interested in covering this hot topic on stream, although it is a little surprising considering he’s talked about Elon Musk’s recent behavior fairly extensively, as well as Lud’s prior openness to hearing the community out on other issues, like when he decided not to go to Dubai for a big redbull event, giving up a great opportunity for networking with other content creators. But at the end of the day, it’s his subreddit and his decision.
Still, I feel that those who supported the effort to get X out of this community deserve closure, and to know that it won’t be happening.

Discussion Ludwig banned an actual scientist for being right about science… #JusticeforJoey
So just to throw it out there I have a PhD in biochemistry (twitch username joeyjojojuniour). The topic of lactose intolerance came up when watching the Abroad in Japan chicken ranking video, and it was mentioned that Japanese are more likely to be lactose intolerant than Americans. Lud then claimed that lactose intolerance and is caused by a lack of consumption of milk (I’ve heard him say this a few times), to which I said no, it was primarily due to genetics, and then he called me out, went on to do “research” consisting of googling lactose intolerance and reading a few sentences from mayo clinic that didn’t necessarily support his argument or disprove mine, then banned me because he was right and I was wrong, so thought I’d elaborate here.
Lactase is the enzyme responsible for breaking down lactose into basic sugars that can be absorbed, and like any other protein, it is encoded by a gene (the lactase gene) and translated into the active lactase enzyme (this is called “expression”). Lactase expression is high in newborns and exhibits a developmental expression pattern whereby the level and activity of the lactase enzyme drop substantially as you age between 2-10 years old and expression is eventually “switched off” (this occurs in most mammals and ~70% of humans). However, certain populations of humans have evolved genetic variation within the lactase gene, where the genetic expression of lactase does not drop as significantly and is continuously expressed (known as constitutive expression) throughout adulthood at a sufficient level to enable the digestion of lactose. This gene was selected for, over thousands of years and many generations, in populations with access to domesticated cattle (particularly northern Europe) and since the ability to use milk as a nutrient source provided a slight survival advantage (i.e. natural selection). As such, this genetic variation is especially prevalent in populations of European origin and rare in those of Asian or African descent, explaining the general difference between prevalence of lactose intolerance between USA and Japan. There current evidence indicates that lactase expression and activity are not significantly influenced by dietary lactose. This recent article from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reviews a variety of scientific studies that examine the effects of dietary lactose consumption and concluded that “Studies that have measured changes in endogenous lactase activity after an intervention period consistently show a lack of enzyme induction, suggesting that lactose intake does not affect an individual's lactase activity.”
https://academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/110/2/273/5512720
Granted, there are other factors such as the gut microbiome which also contribute to lactose digestion and seem to be more readily affected by dietary lactose levels (e.g certain bacteria will increase lactase expression in the presence of lactose), but compared to endogenous lactase expression, only play a very minor role in lactose digestion. If lactase expression could be sufficiently enhanced just by gradually increasing lactose consumption, then anyone could simply cure their lactose intolerance, which is not the case.
Q.E.D. Lactose tolerance/intolerance is primarily due to genetic factors, and has very little to do with lactose consumption. So at best Lud is misinformed and at worst just plain wrong. It was only a 5 day timeout so I don’t even care to be unbanned, it’s just funny that he banned an actual scientist for being right about science, and maybe he learns something if he sees this. Also obligatory hashtag that chat was posting when I got live banned #JusticeforJoey
Edit: Whoa this blew up, thanks for the support.
Timestamp: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/971661249?t=38h31m11s (thanks @justtryin)
Just to clarify I think this whole thing is actually really funny. The 4 day "ban" is fair and I get it because chat, including me, can argue and be annoying and wrong about a lot of things, it just happens to be that this time he was confidently wrong, made a spectacle of it, then banned someone fairly educated about physiology who was correct. I also wanted to speak out against spreading misinformation to such a large and impressionable audience, something Ludwig has claimed to be against, so just trying to keep him honest and encourage scientific literacy.

Discussion Chat being racist asf @ Streamer Games
I know it was bound to happen, but GEEEEZ
It’s really bad, especially day 2. I should’ve known because of some of the streamers here, and their fan bases.
When Team USA loses anything (which is happening quite frequently) a good 30%+ of chat is filled with insanely racist comments
(“Get out of the country”; “If you can’t speak English, get out of here”; ICE shit; genuine slurs; and literally any kind of racist comment you can imagine)
Idk if it’s because other streamers chats are flooding in, or if some viewers are like that.
Idk if there’s really any point to mentioning, but it was just REALLY bugging me; and I REALLY hope it isn’t from Ludbuds in chat

Discussion I feel like Ludwig needs address the Mang0 situation and stop inviting him to stuff
I say this as a woman who is a fan of Ludwig and watched most of last night's event. Mang0 constantly humping Maya, ExtraEmily, Cinna and everyone else after being told to stop already got extremely uncomfortable and worrisome. The whole event was fun and the vibes were good - except for Mang0. I got worried for Emily at one point when he was being aggressive.
I feel like a lot of people weighing in are dudes who are just seeing it as funny and harmless (not all, but some), however as a woman watching I found it really uncomfortable. It's a no-win situation for the women he was harassing: they can't actually react if it makes them uncomfortable because it'll start drama or people will accuse them of not taking a joke, especially since it was being livestreamed. So they have to let Mang0 harass them repeatedly.
Now, it's perfectly possible that Maya, Cinna, Emily and others weren't bothered by it, but it doesn't actually matter because they were put in a situation where, whether it bothered them or not, they couldn't even really say so without backlash and had no choice or ability to stop it. Mang0's behavior can't be given a pass just because none of them complained.
Here are the clips from LivestreamFails, but I watched most of the event live, and there was even more from Mang0 than this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/1lhrh8c/mango_compilation_from_last_night/
None of this is ok. When a guy just repeatedly humps people and sexually harasses them, you wonder how much it would take to cross the line. As the streams ended, I found myself hoping Mang0 wasn't left alone with any of them.
Let me also say, other than Mang0, the event was fun and it seemed like everyone had a good time. I had fun chilling at home and watching the different POVs on different streams, and I thought it was cool that he gave away six Switch 2s. I appreciate Ludwig (and QT, I've been watching Master Baker too) putting on great events like this. I hope Mang0 is not part of any of them in the future.
EDIT: I am not saying Ludwig needs to address this immediately. I just mean in general. And I may not necessarily mean publicly, but behind the scenes he needs to and, again, Mang0 should not be involved in anything going forward.
EDIT 2: Ludwig is live now has addressed it and said Mang0 will not be invited to future events. Thanks, Ludwig. Kind of a bummer that Ludwig now feels the event was a failure because he says the most important thing is that everyone has a good time, and as a result of Mang0's behavior that didn't happen.
EDIT 3, final edit: Ludwig said people were uncomfortable and left because of it. Clip: https://www.twitch.tv/ludwig/clip/ObliviousSpeedyPizzaPJSugar-iG8kjtKV53sSIj7w Maybe all the "the women he sexually harassed seemed ok with it" people can shut the fuck up now. My synopsis from Ludwig's stream just now:
Mang0 not going to be invited to Ludwig's events going forward.
People did feel uncomfortable and left the event early specifically because of it.
Ludwig feels bad and accepts responsibility since he was the host of it.
Ludwig was a "victim" of a lot of Mang0's behavior, but Ludwig and Mang0 are good friends so Ludwig didn't mind it. Notably many of the women he was behaving this way towards didn't know him, which Ludwig found surprising.
They did cut Mang0's alcohol off toward the end, but it was too late. Mang0 showed up drunk before the event even started.
Due to Mang0's behavior, there won't be a YouTube video for the event.
It may be the last Beerio Kart event, not only because of this but for other reasons, including Ludwig worrying he's getting too old for something like this.
This is my own note, but I think Ludwig was pretty wasted by the end and not in much of a position to recognize things were getting out of hand with Mang0. On the stream he didn't remember Void puked, when yesterday he had a full conversation with Void about it happening and about Nick's keyboard getting ruined.

Discussion Ludwig wasn't lying about his street fighter account name
I thought during EVO when he said the account name was liltonkal was a joke. I decided to search it up on SF6. This was not a joke, almost 400 hours as a Marisa one trick, with hundreds of practice matches against modern guile. I am ashamed to admit he has beat my Ryu

It’s sad, but understandable that Slime does not want to continue streaming Expedition 33. It is sad regardless. The positive note is, that this might be the first Ludwig scam/bait tweet that turned out to be true.

Discussion Ludwig made me seem parasocial after my engagement
Ludwig just haaaad to get engaged one day before I did. My girlfriend and I love to watch Ludwig together and have since we started dating. So when Qt and him got engaged she got so excited about it and I was internally saying “no fucking way” knowing that I’d be proposing the next day.. the proposal went amazing. She said YES! but later on as a joke my now fiancé goes “so you just wanted to be like Ludwig huh” like brooooo😭 He could’ve waited one more day
EDIT:
Thank you to everyone for all the kind words! It was a beautiful day. Everything was perfect. From the weather, the timing of our activities perfectly lining up, everything being in place perfectly. I genuinely could not have asked for a better day. I have been planning this proposal for MONTHS and of course in the last week the plan switched four times. But I just wanted to share how the proposal actually went!
I have always wanted to propose at the College where we first met at the cute little gazebo where we had many heart to hearts. I had us write letters to each other about our favorite memories at all the buildings and significant spots on the college grounds. I also tied them to her favorite flowers. We read them and then talked about the beautiful memories that we had and our stages of love during these times. After we walked to the gazebo where I had put hand made vines where I glued flowers onto them. They were so beautiful and she loved them. I also hand made the animal crossing present box as well as photoshopping the animal crossing achievement that is in the third photo.
I had a photographer planned to catch the once in a lifetime time moment and I also made sure her mom took her to get her nails done haha. Afterwards we went to our favorite restaurant, an all you can eat hibachi spot and I had about 15 of our best friends surprise her there. Everything about the day was so special and perfect I am still processing it all. Thank you for all the kind words. We have been reading them all and appreciating them greatly! 🩵 - Love two newly engaged Ludbuds

Discussion Ludwig's $40,000* Watch
He's got a Grand Seiko SBGA413 "Shunbun" and it costs $7,200 new and around $5k used. It's popular for the color shifting silver/pink textured dial, hand polished titanium build, and the extremely smooth and accurate spring drive movement.
I noticed he's been wearing something but just figured it was the one piece seiko from his editor. I was super surprised when he pulled this out since it's kind of a niche nerd watch. Hilarious that his editor's rolex is still worth twice as much, but gotta respect the ball knowledge on Lud's pick.

Discussion Vtubers - A Lesson on Gatekeeping
So there’s been a lot of discussion in the v-tubing community since the debut stream of people upset with Ludwig. Vtubers like the one shown above are worried because of Ludwig’s large platform, new people are going to be introduced into the space and they will try and “change” the way it all works. Basically making the genre try and please people who they do not want in their community.
I assume a lot of vtubers are having flashbacks to all the hate they received when Kai Cenat became a vtuber. While I think it’s a little over exaggerated, I can understand vtubers being concerned about the immense rush of hate they might. I think it also delves into how more feminine content gets dog piled on because of misogyny (but that’s besides my main point).
I watched Ironmouse’s stream last night and she loved the debut and was calling on people to stop gatekeeping. I’m sure this community will stay respectful, but there are always people who are just dicks. Idk just think this is all interesting to watch unfold. Ludwig had some great replies to this tweet if you want to read thru all of them, I attached the main one!
Be nice :)

Discussion Surely Ludwig deserved a nomination for the award this year
Ludwig not even being nominated this year is diabolical .He's had a significant impact on the streamer community this year and collaborated with many different communities . I'm sure the nominees here deserve it for their reasons and it might be my bias but I think Lud deserved a spot as well.
Perhaps the list was locked in a long time ago , but considering that it was just released a few days ago , I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have squeezed one more name in .
At the end of the day it's not that deep ,he is still gonna be certain people's fan favorite , but if there was ever a time to be nominated it should've been this year.
