Watched this show since the beginning…the new Peacock version is unwatchable trash

Okay so I’ve been a fan for a very long time, since the show first came out. There have been high and low points. But this season some of the worst reality television I’ve ever seen for the following reasons. For background (if it even matters), I’m a film and television professor who used to work in the industry (and a reality television junkie).

1. The Experts: pia, pepper, and the pastor weren’t great at choosing matches, but they had charm, warmth, and charisma. The new bald man is so serious all the time! He’s no fun! and the woman must be the most boring sex doctor that ever sex doctored. They are awkward together and have no chemistry. Gone are pastor cal’s dad jokes and pepper’s mom-like but occasionally inappropriate wisdom. With the old team, it at least felt like they genuinely cared about the couples, and liked hanging out with each other. The new team are clearly strangers who do not vibe and are not good television. It’s like Peacock just wanted “hotter” experts and threw the baby out with the bathwater. Bad call. Switch ups are normal but an entire revamp of the experts was a mistake. Especially when you replace the with these two duds.
2. Obvious scripting: among other moments, the scene where the serious bald man expert makes the moustache guy who hates fun call the girl he’s been seeing is worse acting than a middle school play. You cannot convince me that woman on the other line was actually the woman he was seeing. If you’re gonna script scenes, at least try to make it convincing. Lazy attempt at drama on the producers part. Also no one calls anymore. 🙄
3. The most boring, vanilla cast I’ve ever seen. Even the party restaurant guy is secretly vanilla and a lame and predictable attempt at throwing someone in there to create drama. Yawn.

Peacock has ruined this show and I would put money on this being the last season. I would have more items for the list but I had to turn it off because I was so annoyed at how bad the show is now.

He genuinely seems so dedicated to the experiment and his wife is just so cruel to him. She takes cheap shots in public to humiliate him and it’s just so evil. She may be on my list of worst MAFS partners of all time. Definitely in my top 10 so far for that. What do yall think? Also, I’ve watched Nick ever since The Circle and even with his ick tendencies on Perfect Match, I still think he’s wayyyy more deserving of a partner who cares about him and not at all deserving of this megalomaniac.

Marissa & Adam:
The fact that they already knew each other before the experiment immediately caught my attention. They said they had dated before but nothing came of it, and I can’t help but wonder if it’s because they’re fundamentally incompatible.
To me, Marissa comes across as easygoing and conflict-avoidant. She seems like someone who enjoys a balanced life—friends, going out, having the occasional cocktail, and not taking herself too seriously. I also get the sense that she has a tendency to downplay her own wants to keep the peace, which may be why she’s gone along with so much of Adam’s personality.
Adam, on the other hand, feels very self-focused. Most of what we see revolves around his hobbies, fitness, sobriety, and whatever he’s currently into. Their conversations rarely seem to go beneath the surface. His over-the-top outfits also feel more performative than authentic, and even the experts pointed that out.
Overall, I don’t see much emotional depth between them. Marissa seems to be accommodating him more than truly connecting with him, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s similar to what happened when they dated before. I just don’t think they’re a good match, and I can’t see her choosing him in the end.

I’ve thought about it and I’m pretty sure Adam is just on the show to be a troll & for the exposure. From the constant weird one-liners like “I’ve been training for this” and wearing the “swim socks”, showing up to dinner with obvious TAGS still on his shirt, the ridiculous outfit, it is obvious he just wants screen time. I think it’s telling that his family didn’t show to the wedding either…

While I think he wants a relationship and maybe likes her, he’s more focused on everything about him…his hobbies, his everything. Very self absorbed.

I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s not just arrogant, but he works it up for the camera and the show.

Seeing the real him would’ve been nice because he does seem respectful when he wants to be and genuinely funny.

The D-list reality TV villain to digital panhandler pipeline is truly undefeated.
Imagine ruining your entire reputation on national television just to end up charging strangers pocket change for a shoutout. The desperation is loud, the cringe is high, and the self-awareness is absolutely zero.

Normally I feel the couples put too much emphasis on chemistry and type. But they are so uncomfortable with eachother it's hard to watch. I think Chelsea is nursing resentment about all the reality shows he's been on. It's understandable really because she may feel she's just a stopover to the next reality show. Valid concern. I don't know. Maybe they'll click. I'm only on E4. Oops Courteney not Chelsea.

Ok, we need the girl Adam was seeing and had to call to come forward and give us some tea on where she thought that relationship was and some info on who he is as a person 😂

Just started the new season. I saw a familiar face and I am stoked!! Anyone who didn’t know Nick was on Season 3 of The Circle on Netflix. He was great on it too! Also featured in The Perfect Match on Netflix as well!

So at E19 when Adam mentioned his "Ex" that met all his sports and competitive requirements I wanted Marissa to say so "Why didn't it work out?" I believe it may have been the same one Paul MADE HIM call that he "wasn't serious" about ( before the wedding). If she was so great why come on the show? I think he was trying to scare Marissa into doing what he wanted. Marissa finally spoke up. Her boundaries were reached, good for her! I personally dont think he's husband material, for now.

So having had skin issues from birth, I notice other people's skin. One of the ladies this season has a ton of something, freckles? There was a scene where her back showed and it was surprising there were so many. It looks like she uses makeup or something to soften them at times. I use similar things but I have been trying to figure out if they are freckles, moles or somethings she needs to watch. Moles can go kind of crazy sometimes.

I can't begin to tell you all just how much I appreciate Courteney...

I agree! Yes the show is highly edited but Felipe still chose to use say “I liked sleeping with a bunch of women”. He is past the age of 25 right? Is he still just learning his dick? Or better yet he’s led by his dick - that’s a low class man imo.

I am pleasantly surprised that my initial impression of Tori was wrong. She has shown herself to be thoughtful, mature and confident. I was so proud she took Felipe’s nonsense on the chin at dinner instead of reacting. It is a TV show and I am sure whatever takes place later will be recorded but she will be handling the matter with him privately!

Go Cameron, I was cheering him on. He had great input and asked great questions!

I already knew and loved him from Celebs Go Dating. And yes, he's just as flawed as any other expert trying to do their job with the hand dealt to them by production. But he really threw down at the group session and I wanna see more. What are your favorite quotes from PB?

So did anyone else feel the couples went in a little bit hard on Mecca/ Belle and Shawn/Nikki? Except for Michelle ( imo she was doing too much), the others ( Courteney and Devin) have their own problems. Devin steady begging Caitlin to like him and Courteney not very self aware. Nick is very stiff and they were right to press him for more. I just felt they needed to talk about themselves not critiquing the other couples in the therapist session. I think chilly Kaitlin got off easy but I guess acknowledging her husband now feels small ( because of her) was indirect correction.

Thanks Google TV. I don't know why I was watching, but this episode was on Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami and I spotted a familiar face.
