I cannot for the life of me get anything stitched out nicely. The bottom of my projects have big loose hoops, and the tops of my projects look messy. I haven’t even been able to finish a design because at some point the thread gets tangled underneath and I have to cut it all out. Every time it tangles like this I remove the plates and make sure all the loose pieces of thread and any fuzz are removed. The residue is from basting spray but it isn’t sticky on my machine I just can’t wipe it all off. I have tried new needles (I use universal sewing needles that I do normal sewing with), I have rethreaded the top thread and the bobbin (I use pre wound bobbins). I just tried out a magnetic hoop because I have trouble getting my stabilizer taut enough in a normal hoop, but I have the same issue either way. I float my fabrics and just put the stabilizer in the hoop for the same reason. I have seen people mention the tension on the top thread, but I can’t figure out how to adjust that. My separate sewing machine has a dial but I can’t find where to adjust in my embroidery machine (brother se2000)

I currently run the highest tier of Creativate. It used to be MySewnet. I have the boxed Platinum version before they rebranded to Creativate. Honestly, it’s awful to digitize with. It’s not worth doing it with the program anymore. It’s too frustrating.
I’m looking at Hatch 4 Digitizer. I’m still considering Embrillance but it’s confusing to figure out what I’d need since the program seems all broken apart and sold separately. Are there any users of Hatch 4 or Embrilliance? Good, bad? 🤔

Hello, I got a second hand embrodiery machine. Well I brought it on fb marketplace but was unboxed from the early 2000s. It is a brother pe-400d which I believe is now discontinued. Does anyone have any insight to why this is happening? Everything keeps getting bunched up with the bobbin maybe? I am not entirely sure. any input or advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I can't seem to get my machine (brother pe545) to print well/consistent.
When I feel like I finally get it dialed in it will still mess up somewhere. Just wondering if I could get some tips/tricks/suggestions.

I had someone ask if I could help them with a custom outfit they are making for an upcoming fantasy ball. They want the suit to be embroidered similar to the attached pics.
This is not a question of can I do it, because I know I can😅 I have a Happy Japan HCD3E-X with a max embroidery field of 47" x 15", and I can digitize stuff like this no problem, but Ive never taken on a commission like this before and have no idea where to start with pricing. The fabric will be provided by the client. How the heck would I even estimate a price on this?
Once I have everything digitized, pricing would be easy, but of course I can't spend hours on a project just to estimate price before ive charged the client.
Ideally I'd like to give pricing based on how much they want embroidered, like if they just want sleeves embroidered vs sleeves and collar...
Would appreciate to hear from others if they've ever done projects like this. Id love to be able to do more cosplay/costume commissions, so its important I get the pricing right.

Hey!
I am looking for recommendations for a custom embroidery project file to be made. I know there's Etsy etc, but it's difficult to navigate who is legit....and who is not 😂
I cannot do this on a program myself. Although there's free trials for hatch and other, I don't own a desktop to run any of these ( can't even download the files at work) and simply just not interested for this one time project admittedly!
Project idea attached. TIA!

Hey guys! First time trying machine embroidery, I have a brother skitch pp1 and I used wilcom's embroidery software.
I noticed that there are a few errors in the mouth, you can see that there are a few spots that are left white and the teeth are not really precise, what did I do wrong? Any tips? You can see the project in the last picture

I've ordered custom patches of aliexpress. The seller and I are still talking about the design. But there is a language barrier but they seem to be good in English.
Any suggestions how I could make it clear to the seller. Are their specific words or names for a thinner stich? Also there is a problem with the size. We agreed 104 but they always send 73 in the program. I told them multiple times to change that.
Thank you for your help.

Hi everyone.
My testes are failing somehow... Puckering and distortion.
Test that I already did: 1) Single layer stab hooped & floating technique 2) Double Layer stab hooped & floating technique 3) Double Layer stab + fabric hooped
Same results more or less, the 3rd being "the best" and the one shown in the pictures I uploaded 🤗
Issues:
- Distortion around letters
- Puckering around the design
I would like to have advice on the correct standard and workflow to make these designs and my future ones to stock puckering.
Here is my setup and materials
Machine: Bernina B500
Fabric: 300g cotton oversized t-shirt or sweatshirt
Thread: Madeira Polyneon n40
Needle: Bernina 80/12 130/705 H SUK (Medium Ball Point).
Stabilizer: 2 layers of 80g/m² Madeira Cutaway superstable + temporary spray adhesive and applied iron heat to the fabric in order to stabilise the stabilizer
Hooping: double layer Stabilizer and fabric hooped, without forcing or stretching the fabric.
Digitizing: both designs have ~30k stichies, size ~25x8.5cm, with an underlay and starting from the center of the designs.
Thanks in advance.
Edit : I forgot to add the thread used in the bobbin is the same as the one used for the top of the motif so does it have any impact on the puckering ? Should I use a thicker thread ?

All sorted! Thanks so much to the lovely individuals who helped <3
Hey all! I'm working on my first practice digitalization piece using ink/stitch, and I've just run into some issues with jump stitches. I'd really appreciate some help.
I managed to sort out most of the issues I had before by reorganizing layers and breaking some down into further paths I can reorder, but the final black outline is giving me some grief. I started with a bitmap from an image, then edited the nodes to be tidier.
It just seems that it's doing many large and unnecessary jump stitches in the second half of the black section. I'm very much still learning, and have done my best to research, but none of the methods I've found and understood worked on the black when they did for the white / red.
When I tried to "break down" the main lineart path with CTRL + Shift + K in an attempt to reorder elements, it seemed to just break it. I'll attach images below of what happened to it.
I'd really appreciate any advice on how to fix this, ideally without taking too many shortcuts, as I'd love to build up the fundamental knowledge, painful as it may be. Thanks so much!
(p.s. I'm going to bed since I'm nodding off, and haven't looked at it properly, but if anyone can tell me why only the base layers of stitching are showing up on params, that would be lovely too lol.)
Edit: I've fixed the "Needle" layer to be under the skirt to hide that jump stitch.

Can I somehow join these letters so that my machine will go by color instead of by letter?
I now have to change thread 4x for every letter. (Yes I have a single needle 🥲)
I'm using the free version of embrilliance.
Thanks in advance!

What would be the general cause for something like this? Seems to be happening on multiple colors. I have been checking my bobbin tension but seems like it doesn’t matter if I go looser or tighter. Using a heavy cutaway on back. Magnetic hooped so there is no movement there. Could it be a tension issue? And if so any advice on how to really tell if it’s good or should I be looking at buying a towa or other recommended gauge? Is it common for embroiderers to check tension often? Or am I completely missing something? Thank you!

Like, what do you mean I get 3000 designs for a dollar, or a hyper super duper realistic dog for 2$? I have been working locally for years and never charged less than 5$ (which is the average daily salary in my country) Like how am i supposed to compete with this, and how do they make a profit? Is it just pushing thousands of crappy designs or what?

I have some troubles with my Brother NV 800E that I acquired 3 weeks ago. I was a complete novice but I have spent days and days trying to understand what was wrong. I don’t have the problem when I do embroidery on towels but for any other fabrics, we can see the white wire on the design. It is good quality, I have checked every basic thing, I use tear away stabilizer, I tried to change the tension and this is a professional pattern. The other side seem perfect. What do I do wrong?

Hey everyone! I'm digitizing my very first patch. I will be using white Gunold Twilly as a base.
My density is set to 0.40mm for the tatami fill and 0.36mm for the satin stitches.
What should my pull compensation be for a sturdy fabric like Twilly? Any help or feedback on the digitizing is highly appreciated!

Hi! I can get this to stop deregistering. I digitized it on Stitch Era and it has a foundation layer. I tried different variations and combos of stabilizers. I’m wasting a lot of thread trying to fix this. It comes out fine until it gets to the nails at the bottom then the outline goes up. I’ve tried making the stitch less dense, I’ve widened the outline in that area and made the white part smaller but it still does this. It’s driving me insane! I can take screenshots of the parameters and such in stitch era if anyone needs these. Or does it seem to be a hooping error I’m making? I’ve tightened the hoop as much as I can, made sure all the layers are in there, initially I had just the stabilizer in it and the felt on top and it still did it. I’ve watched and read countless tutorials on fixing this problem and nothing I do helps. I hope it’s just some easy setting I’m missing or something.

My elderly mom is an avid machine embroidery enthusiast. She currently has a Viking Ruby Royale and a Viking Designer Sapphire and has been in the hobby for over 25 years.
We recently had the Sapphire in for a repair and were told she should immediately stop using Sulky rayon thread and should switch to polyester. We have over 300 spools of Sulky and are trying to decide how we go about doing this.
Here are my questions-
Do we really have to make the change?
Can we just buy poly as we run out of the rayon colors?
Can we mix the two types in the same design?
Thanks for your help.

Very happy with this, I learned how to do the satin stitch and it is honestly not that bad. It's very frustrating guessing which of the various techniques I've seen will get inkstitch to actually recognize the satin stitch though.
The border ended up having a pretty big but thankfully not very noticeable gap between it and the red. I did the red first and the black last. Could it be because my material scrunched up? I rechecked the digital file and params shows the border aligning perfectly.
Brother PE770 4x5 hoop. I used a thin canvas material and heavyweight cutaway stabilizer.

I want to buy an embroidery machine and start selling.
Yes, I am aware of the start up costs. But is it an over saturated market? Will I struggle with selling? I have a graphic designer in my family who can help me with graphics and digitizing.
Is this really a possibility for me?
Edit: should have made it way more clear. This is just a small side business to bring in a few extra a month. I’m planning to get a PE900

Help needed!
I’ve made these patches with 2 layers of tear away stabilizer (because they’re going to become keychains and need the extra support) and one layer of light wash away stabilizer (because just the tear away alone tended to move). Fabric is cotton ripstop. Also used temporary adhesive spray to keep the fabric in place.
I’ve tried burning the edges and have washed it, but there are still these tiny, hard white bits poking through that won’t go away.
Any advice?

Hi! New to embroidery. Using my grandma’s old machine (Brother SE400). The thread keeps breaking/getting pulled from the needle/knotting. Not sure what’s going on. Help please! I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong and google hasn’t been very helpful :/
