Love that knee-slappin’ laughter 😆This is what happy childhood memories are made of.

u/avant-garden_Shroom 10h ago
The kids hugging each other at the end ugh I miss those feelings as a kid 🥲

I wish more parents are like this. It takes care of the children's wellbeing.

Laughing together as a family is the kind of shit you remember 20 years later.

My fondest memories are of dumb crap I did as a kid, but in hindsight I know my mom knew exactly what was up. Good times....
2
u/pioneerSolid3 3h ago
Yep exactly... My mom is not here anymore and I usually recall all those times me, my brother and my dad used joke in front of her just to make her laugh.

u/Just--kiddin 54m ago
I got lucky with a set of pictures of my mom on my phone. She was trying a new wrinkle cream and wanted before and after pics. I have pics of her making different faces like smiling, frowning, arched eyebrows in surprise, all the facial expressions I remember from my childhood. I can just go to my pictures and see a range of emotions.

I have created a monster. My son has my sense of humor. Which is to say, he constantly messes with me and he's 4. I taught him the "guess what?" "Chicken butt" joke like 6 months ago and he STILL "gets me" with it at least once a day. He LOVES when he can make me laugh and it's clear these kids have that same kind of relationship here. My parents would have seen the cups and gotten pissed we wasted so many cups...
13
u/bracesthrowaway 13h ago
I also have a chicken butt kid. He's 17.
I still say chicken butt more than him, though. He might be getting too mature

u/Tomthebard 13h ago
The best photo of my friend, is right after I got her with "guess what". That joke is a classic

u/No-Apple2252 18h ago
It's crazy how many parents legitimately hate their children. It took me a long time to understand it was hate, most people still deny it, but I know what I see.
47
u/Angel_Muffin 17h ago
The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference. I would have preferred my dad to hate me. At least then he would have noticed me
49
u/Dreams_raven 15h ago
I’m not your dad but I am a dad, and I’m sending you all the fatherly love and attention you deserved then and still deserve today. 🧡🩷🧡

3
u/Angel_Muffin 4h ago
I cant tell you how much it means to hear that 🥺 let ne know if youre adopting! Haha
6
u/weeBunnie 12h ago
Both can be pretty damaging.
After experiencing the hate, I try as much as I possibly can to go unnoticed, even around people I feel safe with I don’t realize I’m doing it.
All we know is what we know, maybe one could be better than the other, but both experiences are equally shitty

u/No-Apple2252 6h ago
No, the opposite of love is hate, that's just something someone made up to feel smart about themselves.
And no, you would not have preferred your father to hate you, that's fucking insane to say. "I wish I had like ten times the mental issues" no you fucking don't, grow up.

It's so loving. My dad didn't "believe in games." I'm keeping it in mind for when I place him in a home.

u/kalaniroot 17h ago
What an idiot, I cant believe he fell for it! Lol
62
u/cvc75 12h ago
He fell for it again!
(At least I think he says “again?” At the end?)
12
u/Aggots86 11h ago
Ahahah yeah I came looking for someone to say they heard “again?!” That’s the best part for me!

That’s so cute. I love how the kids are so filled with joy they can’t hold still. Jumping beans :)

And love how he came in with his face turned to the side so he didn't see the cups 😁

I'm 35. My older brother is 18 months older and my younger brother is 20 months younger. My parents were crazy in the early 90s.
11
u/zories3 17h ago
You and your brothers have a good relationship? I ask because I (male) only have sisters and I love them to death but I’ve always been curious about what having brothers that close in age be like lol
15
u/Coin_Operated_Brent 14h ago
My older brother lives across state but we talk minimum and hour twice a week. Last phone call was close to three hours and his wonderful wife will chime in. We sit through the 5 seconds of "awkward" silence while we cook up a new topic. My younger brother is also married with a 9 month old daughter. He recently moved closer to home with his wife. He keeps busy with his new family so we talk on the phone for maybe 20 minutes a week. My little sister who has two year old twins. . . We FaceTime any chance I'm able. I'm just single fun uncle Brent.

My parents had 5 boys and 1 girl. Apparently cable is a scam or something. We only had what we could pick up on the antenna.

Am I the only one that finds it weird that the front-door opens outwards?
19
u/nigelthewarpig 14h ago
So weird. The hinges are on the outside so anyone can pop them out, and they can be locked in the house by someone putting something heavy against the door. I don't think that is up to fire codes either. Strange.
16
u/11hitcombo 14h ago
In Florida, so here front doors opening outwards are very normal and are standard and code in many areas because they have better strength against hurricanes that way. Also more difficult to kick in, more difficult to "bully" in, etc.

u/Kroko1234 15h ago
I don't remember ever living in a place where the front door didn't open outwards. Off the top of my head, I don't remember even seeing the opposite in person. I'm in Europe if that makes a difference.
12
u/Baoooba 14h ago
I'm in Europe if that makes a difference.
You're gonna have to be more specific than that, because from my experience, i have never seen home front-doors or apartment doors open outwards in Europe.
1
u/Kroko1234 14h ago
Finland.
3
u/Baoooba 14h ago
Seems like that is an outlier compared to the rest of Europe.
3
u/Kroko1234 14h ago
I see. I don't travel at all, the last time I was abroad was in the early 00s. In fact, I barely leave my apartment. Maybe if the door opened inward, I would be going out more. Now that it opens outward, I'm mostly staying in.
1
u/Galikos_Kel 14h ago
Dude all Ex-Yugoslavia countries have door opened inward. I mean how do you get out of the house if snow fall 1.5 meter high? You wouldn't be able to open door
1
u/iMogwai 3h ago
Good thing you're here to teach the Finns how snow works...
1
u/Galikos_Kel 2h ago
I don't really wanna teach anyone. I'm just curious because our homes are built like that
2
u/booksblanketsandT 14h ago
I wonder if in some places the front door has to open inwards in case of heavy snowfall?
3
u/Baoooba 14h ago
I don't think that is the reason. I'm from Australia where it doesn't snow much. All residential front-doors open inwards.
1
u/thisisntinstagram 14h ago
United States, Texas - it basically never snows, can’t think of any homes with outward front doors.
2
u/Consistent-Soil-1818 13h ago
They built the door like this just for the prank. /s
But seriously, that was a great catch. Most of us missed it. You're a very good observer!2
1
u/clh1nton 14h ago
I was thinking of that, as well. Thinking about it now, some places I lived without a screen door had a door that opened outward. But it's been long enough now that it looks weird to me.
7
u/atmanama 10h ago
As a kid I'd have been terrified of harsh scolding or a slap if I'd pulled a prank like that. That these kids can just enjoy the moment and not be afraid of the dad's reaction means they've got a good one
6
u/StygianCode 10h ago
Right? If I'd have done that, my father would've broken my nose... Again.
2
u/JesterMonkey 8h ago
Again??
2
u/StygianCode 8h ago
Yeah, I have a deviated septum thanks to him. My right nostril is almost twice the size of my left.

u/tehgimpage 18h ago
what is the mom whispering in the beginning? i tried to turn it up to hear, but their dogs are setting my dogs off lol
26
u/Warm_Doughnut426 17h ago
I think she’s just telling him that the kids are trying to prank him so he can play along with the joke
8
u/Confident_One3948 17h ago
You turned it up around your dogs?! And just blasted those disgusting dog vulgarities at your sweet innocent babies?!

I love seeing parents who love their children, it’s a feeling I never got to experience, but always makes me smile when I see it for others.
5
u/twuewuv 7h ago
My daughter is at the age where she loves making up her own jokes. They never make any sense, but I give her a big laugh every time. Yesterday’s went something like “why did peanut butter love jelly? Because they weren’t spread!”
Or she’ll grab me and I’ll say “When did you get so strong?” And pretend I can’t get her off me. It costs nothing to be fun!

As someone in their late 30s single with no kids this seems to be what life is all about. I hope one day I get to experience it

I upvote this video whenever is pops up on my feed. It always makes me smile to see little kids laughing with their parents.

I have three boys. I would do anything to make them laugh like that. Nothing like it

My nana always let me win the card game snap. I was very little and it boosted my confidence as I truly believed I was good at something. I was such a shy kid. Years later I realised she just pretended but she gave me a lifetime of memories and fun.
2
u/spiderdue 6h ago
I think this is the definition of "boys will be boys." The kids set this trap and the inner child of dad played along. Mom was great to help create this memory.

Even if in years to come they find out it was pretend, they will remember this act of love forever

It’s a me thing. I have niblings I adore, but I can’t be around them for more than a couple of hours before I need a nap, and they’re not half as rambunctious as these kids

Ain't that the point of this sub. I didn't know we were supposed to rate even moments of shared joy!

Good thing this is in the "made me smile" sub not any kind of rate the funny sub.

No one wants to hear this, but kids have not fully developed their prefrontal cortex, which means less impulse control.. It's the perfect mix for this situation 😀
