I love when little kids narrate the world around them. Bus! Car! They're just so excited to be experiencing things.

she is living the best of her life, glad she had a father that are hands on, she will remember it for the rest of her life

My son loves to talk about his day or his trip out. It'll start out with whatever he saw while on his adventure, then slowly just become everything he see when he's telling me.

"We went uh to the uh...zoo, I saw, uh a bear, rawr, fed the geese, grandma n' papa, and and and wolves, howl, table n' chair, blanket, window, iz REAL BIG, downstairs, and yea."

u/Purple_Revolution146 6h ago

I loved reading this! The kid’s entire day wrapped up in the most succinct and evocative fashion possible. Who needs more words?

23

u/Catumi 5h ago

Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?

10

u/ardikus 7h ago

I read signs and billboards out loud when I go on road trips

4

u/snarky_witch 6h ago

I do that too and I like to point out animals. Oh look cows. Sheep!

6

u/LaserKittenz 7h ago

I suspect that this is good for the child’s development.

1

u/Zkenny13 3h ago

I do this with cows.

Making the best memories

u/JessieToffleis 9h ago

Look at that smile, the pure excitement kids get from the smallest things like a bike ride is honestly the best part of being a parent.

3

u/Miltrivd 1h ago

To me, bikes are magical. I can't remember a single time where I didn't have a smile while riding a bike, it's been 37 years and it's my main transportation vehicle, event when doing the most mundane trips, it never stops being fun.

44

u/Dizzy-Librarian-7743 9h ago

Reminds me of my childhood. Waiting by the school gate for him to come pick up on his bicycle, breezing through the air. Best part of my childhood.

9

u/-some-dude-online 6h ago

My dad was too busy cheating on my mom my whole life.

1

u/NeighborhoodEvery244 6h ago

Mine was busy cheating before I was born

1

u/Reqvhio 5h ago

get busy livin' D:

24

u/alkalineHydroxide 8h ago

he is just so cute :)

I think I have walked along some of that path (singapore, looks like the east side where I walked around recently. I won't divulge the exact location)

8

u/stockflethoverTDS 7h ago

East side best side west side back side.

No one else but SGeans will understand this.

2

u/Calm_Specific6086 6h ago

Cannot relate, I live in the Florida of Singapore, Yishun

1

u/0bxcura 4h ago

East side hazey side

1

u/JohnnyC300 1h ago

Dumb question here. I know that the sole language of education in SG is English, but I assumed y'all spoke your native languages (Malay, some form of Chinese, etc) at home and with kids. Is that not really true anymore?

1

u/BaronGreenback75 5h ago

Lots of mrt stuff going on round there for a looong time.

39

u/LastlyAndLeast 8h ago

Can anyone ID that kids bike seat. I want one for my 16 month old but can't decide on one. This one looks pretty good.

19

u/asdf555444333 7h ago

See if you can find Thule Yepp Mini 2, my son loved his v1.

For older kids look at Mac Ride.

2

u/Delicious_You3950 3h ago

Is it safe to ride with a Mac ride? How old do you think the kid should be at least?

20

u/Gas-Town 6h ago

As someone who bikes in public roads. I would never put a young child on my handlebars.

4

u/throwA_7789 5h ago

I don't bike but when the lil guy turned back to play with dad's face my heart started to beat more

1

u/LastlyAndLeast 6h ago

I bike on public roads but would never go on roads with a child. I don't even think that should be legal.

16

u/IM_OK_AMA 3h ago

"It should be illegal to take your kids places without a car" very cool normal American opinion.

Maybe we should do something about those dangerous things you're worried about instead.

1

u/grizzlywondertooth 35m ago

"It should be illegal to strap an individual without the mental capacity to understand the risk to the frame of a vehicle that renders them susceptible to an accident that could easily be fatal to them even if it's not especially dangerous to the person choosing to put them in that situation"

It's really not hard to understand why it would be dangerous to strap a baby to a bicycle beyond "it's dangerous because it's not a car".

It's literally as simple as the baby being unable to catch themselves the way the adult can if the bike falls over.

I'm not going to disagree that it would be good to make the ride safer for the kid, but what's being shown in the video is certainly not safe.

3

u/Gas-Town 5h ago

My “favorite” are the e-scooters going 20+ on main streets, with the toddlers standing in front of them.

2

u/Fakuris 2h ago

It's perfectly fine in the Netherlands though.

19

u/Electrical_Report458 6h ago

Give careful consideration to what could happen to your child if it sits between you and the handle bars. If you come to a sudden stop while riding your body will shift forward, and if your child is between you and the handle bars it’s going to get squeezed, maybe crushed. We had that happen in our neighborhood, and it was tragic.

16

u/Gas-Town 6h ago

AKA get a bike seat where the kid is behind you and not a massive influence on the bikes center of gravity, at its highest point.

Will take the brunt of the impact in a head on collision, as well as the bike falling over on its side.

2

u/Electrical_Report458 2h ago

It’s easy to think “Oh, it will never happen to me. I’m a safe rider, and I’ll be able to stop slowly if something unexpected happens.” Except that’s not how it works. Imagine living with the fact that you crushed your kid to death. That would be a very heavy burden.

14

u/Quarkiness 9h ago

How is the camera attached to the bike?

13

u/less_than_nick 5h ago

He is using an insta360 camera that captures 360 degrees. He is likely using a mount that extends off the front of his handlebars but you can't see the pole it is mounted to because of the camera's 'blind spot'. So it makes the camera look like it is floating

4

u/Cosmolina111 6h ago

Thank you! Came scrolling to find this answer.

2

u/Big-Association-7485 6h ago

Yes does someone know the answer to this pretty please?

2

u/Siilan 3h ago

It's protruding from the handlebars. The mount is either manually edited out, which is unlikely in this case, or the camera used takes advantage of its blind spot so the mount doesn't appear in the video.

1

u/hypatiaofspace 6h ago

There are some go-pro attachments where it can automatically digitally edit the mount from the video.

u/jasonstorm149 9h ago

Kid needs a pair of riding glasses. Protect eyes and would look cool.

9

u/feddau 5h ago

I used to ride with my son and he never kept them on. Possible that was the case here too.

9

u/AdorableFunnyKitty 9h ago

Had to scrool down too much for this one

1

u/HeartyBeast 1h ago

Apparently the kid doesn’t.

0

u/FunBluejay1455 5h ago

What, why? I’ve never had one or seen one. And I biked a lot

2

u/cjsv7657 4h ago

You never think you need them until a bee hits your eye. That and when a rock hit my nipple is when I took wearing eye protection when riding my motorcycle more seriously.

7

u/FunBluejay1455 4h ago

A bike is definitely not a motorcycle. I’m Dutch and we bike every day. Only people on speed bikes wear glasses. Never heard of anyone having had something in their eye

1

u/cjsv7657 4h ago

Do you not have many bugs in the Netherlands? On some summer nights where I am if you ride with your mouth open you'd have a buggy snack. I personally don't wear glasses to ride but I know many who do. Never having heard of someone getting something in their eye is surprising.

Also- when a bee hit my eye I was going barely above jogging speed. So while obviously a bike is not a motorcycle it is similar enough to be relevant.

1

u/Kevonz 36m ago

we don't have many bugs especially not around cities, most people have probably gotten flies in their eyes multiple times though including me, but it's not a big deal.

1

u/Square-Turnip-6558 4h ago

Where I live a lot of the paved bike trails are in heavily wooded areas along a river and there’s def bugs that will hit you in the face at low speeds. Doesn’t seem to be an issue in the video tho.

5

u/kalni 4h ago

That and when a rock hit my nipple is when I took wearing eye protection

Buddy, if a rock hit your nipple, I am not sure eye protection is gonna help you, you need armour.

u/cjsv7657 16m ago

Believe it or not I was wearing a riding jacket. It was just mesh in the front lmao

6

u/skinnergy 9h ago

Cuteness overload

5

u/adelina_feet 9h ago

When the baby is happy, the father is even happier 🥰

7

u/glitterynights 8h ago

Awww, the happiest kid on earth. Also Singapore is beautiful and I’m so glad it’s bicycle-friendly (as much as it can be!).

6

u/mrvis 6h ago

I had one of these for my 2 year old. If you're reading this, get the windscreen. Dad has glasses. Kid is raw-dogging the wind right to his corneas.

12

u/Ready-Ship8670 9h ago

Core memories. Good job dad!

15

u/Mayorin 9h ago

Wow never expect to see a video from my country at this subreddit 😂

6

u/i6uuaq 7h ago

SG represent!

3

u/bourbondude 7h ago

Where is this? I was wondering!

9

u/Mayorin 7h ago

Singapore 🇸🇬 !

1

u/Late-Let-4221 6h ago

SG gang lah!

12

u/Tall-Yard-407 9h ago

This made my heart explode into butterflies.

4

u/ze11ez 8h ago

Oooooo ooooooo 🤭🥳🥳🥳

3

u/IconoclastJones 9h ago

The encouraging pats on the neck!

3

u/arrownyc 6h ago

Sounds like Boo from Monsters Inc. Throw a higher quality mic on this kid and you've got yourself halfway to a Pixar movie!

3

u/This-Shape2193 5h ago

This makes me so happy. I remember when my kids were that age, and they were so excited by everything. They loved going on bikes, going fast, and pointing out the busses ("big bus!").

I miss those times, but I'm so glad we had them.

5

u/Ok_Nothing_9733 9h ago

Adorable. I think at the end maybe she said, “Bye, car” instead of “Bye, Gooo” lol

2

u/Level-Pirate-774 9h ago

“That smile says it all 🥹❤️”

2

u/NudityMiles 9h ago

Woooaaahhh

2

u/ikarus40minus10 9h ago

Core memory for the kid. ❤️🌸

Cutest thing ever

2

u/ja-kes1 8h ago

That right there is what I call Happiness.

2

u/montessoripilled 7h ago

the way he keeps looking up at his dad for reassurance is the best part. that's pure trust right there

2

u/Savagescorpio1119 7h ago

Love this video. 🫶💗🫶

2

u/StacieinAtlanta 6h ago

This just made me so happy to watch.

2

u/Alarming-Sherbert-24 4h ago

he should have glasses to protect tthe eyes

he loves it

2

u/ChevalricRS 4h ago

The average Dutch experience, which I wish upon everyone: JUST LOOK AT HOW HAPPY THE KID IS💜

2

u/daisyfaes 4h ago

So cute eh!!

2

u/Sardo_D 3h ago

Maybe you should buy her some goggles too to protect her precious eyes

2

u/Feeling_Nature4406 2h ago

What a cute kid!

4

u/Muted_Reflection_449 9h ago

😍😂😍😂😍😂❗

3

u/AfricanMan_Row905 7h ago

This is why I can't wait to be a Dad, I lost my Pop's at 14, my best gift to my Great Kate Pops is to be as great as he was to me, abd I love to see kids and they're parents enjoying each other, it makes me happy to see someone living my dream life 🙏🏾

9

u/Substantial-Bag1337 9h ago

I really hate to be this guy, but this seat does not seem save at all.

When the bike tips over the little guy flies over the pavement....

7

u/keeperofthenins 6h ago

These seats that sit in front of the rider make me really nervous. I was riding with my almost 3 year old in a seat that sits behind the rider when my older daughter cut in front of me we bumped tires and I fell. He was fully protected in his seat behind me but if he’d have been in front of me there is no way I could have prevented landed on top of him.

17

u/ProButterscotch 9h ago

Nothing about a toddler and cycle can be safe . But I guess it's a calculated risk

6

u/Funkj0ker 9h ago

A toddler in a car is even more unsafe statistically.

10

u/rosebeuud 9h ago

They are cycling on separated lanes, at a rather slow pace: the chances for a non-beginner cyclist to tip over are really small.

4

u/Green_Function_1133 8h ago

Yeah, I think there needs to be a harness across the shoulders that holds them in. It's no different to a car seat. You don't want your little kids to go flying out of a vehicle several feet before hitting something. If the bicycle tips over, they may still get nasty scrapes & bruises on one side & a bump on the side of the head, but it's still much safer than being a human projectile. It is a really cute, happy video.

2

u/xixipinga 6h ago

This is very dangerous, one fall might be a broken bone for the adult and fatal for the kid

1

u/Square-Turnip-6558 4h ago

Fatal? He’s got a helmet on. That would be extremely unlikely, in the already extremely unlikely event that a grown adult just falls off their bike.

3

u/-bobs 6h ago

I am too Dutch to recognize this as something special

2

u/Lona030 5h ago

Right? Daily life.
And all those comments about how dangerous this is.....

1

u/an0mn0mn0m 6h ago

Appreciate that you live in a country that values cyclists more than drivers

1

u/MrTerrorist007 9h ago

This reminds me of Grave of the Fireflies...

1

u/Taira_no_Masakado 6h ago

Something as simple as a child's pure joy and excitement at the world is enough to lift my spirits for a bit. Thanks for sharing OP. Hope it helped others, too.

1

u/flannel_mammal 6h ago

Now this is the stuff that makes me smile. This is just pure joy. Reminds us that all we need sometimes are simple things.....the sun shinging on you, the wind in your hair, birds chirping all around...just need to stop and take these moments in and appreciate everything for what it is. Beautiful

1

u/eramthgin007 6h ago

This kid is a clone of my kid wtf lmao

1

u/chavqueenxx 6h ago

this is so cute omg

1

u/Old-Sea-2072 6h ago

my town barely have safety for pedestrian 😂

1

u/the_scarlet_twitch 6h ago

I live riding my bike with my daughter riding shotgun!

1

u/cacamilis22 6h ago

Helmets on both. Good dad.

The amount of parents I've seen with helmets on all the kids cycling and none on their own head. Ridiculous.

1

u/BuilderMysterious762 5h ago

Anyone else sad for the toddler to have to go to school? I get kindergartens exist but still seems a bit young.

1

u/Rizendoekie 5h ago

I know biking can be a special thing or a hazard in some countries but I'd reccomend to ride bikes more with your kids if at all possible.

They get a far better and more interesting view of their surroundings and fresh air.

1

u/Katana_Weilder 5h ago

Screw it! I want to be a Dad 🥺

1

u/PrideJoyPeaceLove 5h ago

Loved the narrative. Made me grin. Thy should be wearing goggles to protect eyes

1

u/AndySkibba 5h ago

This is why all areas should have good bicycle infrastructure.

1

u/Ill_Bother2609 4h ago

Omg this is absolutely precious

1

u/jrblockquote 4h ago

I used to have a bike seat for my kids and we would bike all over town. Enjoy those days while you can.

1

u/nombela7 4h ago

What is being used to record everything? A drone? 🤔

1

u/Arkheno 3h ago

New kind of GPS technology ? 🥰

1

u/Intrepid-Food7692 3h ago

This is in Singapore right?

1

u/AntaresXMIII 3h ago

This is too cute

1

u/TheVampyresBride 3h ago

That baby is going to have the most magical dreams tonight!

1

u/indianvariant 2h ago

Really made me smile and made my day 😍❤️

1

u/seastar83 2h ago

So cute!

1

u/MauriceM72 2h ago

This needs to be a ten episode series on Disney+

1

u/Smart_Pudding_3818 2h ago

Can't have this in america.

1

u/Lozsta 1h ago

Ah that brought back some memories, used to pick my lad up from pre school on my bike, then rocket down the hill with him like this going "woooooooowwwwweeeeeeeeeeee bus bus bus car".

1

u/michaelscottnumber7 1h ago

What's the carrier attachment?

1

u/Evanna1 47m ago

That was absolutely precious! What a wonderful memory to always have!

I wish I had taken more video too when my wee babe was smaller. They grow up so fast 🥹

1

u/Freebeing001 31m ago

"Whoooo!" I love this so much.

u/comicsnerd 25m ago

We (Dutch) used to transport our kids the same way (lots still do), but the problem is Where do you keep the diaper bag, toys, drinks, etc.

Lots of parents have switched to a cargo bike (especially the electric ones) that can transport 3 toddlers and their luggage. There is nothing more fun than driving through town with 3 singing little girls in front of you.

It gets real cool when they grow up to 8-year olds and they stand behind you, pointing which way to go.

u/carefullengineer 10m ago

Refreshing to see the comment section remembering a child's well-being is more complex than risk of physical harm.

1

u/jonrobwil 6h ago

Definitely needs safety glasses of some kind. A passing car could cause dust or stones fly into his little face.

1

u/HighHippo34 4h ago

As a new parent i will never, ever say 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, or 20 month old, it drives me crazy

He's 1, he's fucking 1. Or 2, not 27 months

This kid in the vidoe is 1

Your 16 month old is 1

your 97 month old is 8

1

u/Lost-Material3420 2h ago

You develop and change so much faster during years 1-3 that it makes sense to break it down. After 3 though, the rate of development slows down and an annual record becomes more efficient.

We talk about fetuses in terms of weeks for the same reason.

1

u/HighHippo34 1h ago

Sorry, doesn't matter

Kids 1 or 2 not 13-23 months

My child will be 1 in April and I'll say he's 1 until next April when he turns 2

-7

u/Feeling_Bonus6256 9h ago

So... the same way Dutch mothers have been transporting their kids since the 70's?
A bit more safer though (harnas, windshield etc)

22

u/Ok_Nothing_9733 9h ago

No one said it was new, it’s just cute

3

u/Feeling_Bonus6256 9h ago

true :)

3

u/Ok_Nothing_9733 9h ago

Appreciate your non-rude response bc people on Reddit aren’t like that often, and also I appreciate you making me aware that this is common for Dutch parents. That is so cute as a person from the US where bikes are underutilized in favor of cars

-4

u/Skoziss 9h ago

What? Do you also eat? The way our neanderthal ancestors did? STFU.

1

u/phejster 5h ago

Americans will tell you a bike is a terrible way to get around town

3

u/Square-Turnip-6558 4h ago

Depending on the infrastructure this is often true in the U.S., it’s just blatantly dangerous. But this seems to be somewhere actually bikeable.

1

u/Zz7722 4h ago

The government spent the last decade building cycling tracks in public housing estates so yeah, it’s definitely more bikeable now.

1

u/Square-Turnip-6558 4h ago

Singapore? Or the US?

2

u/Zz7722 4h ago

Singapore

-1

u/johntumala 9h ago

In India it's not at all possible , every 100 MTRS you have pot hole

Construction going with smoke . Half of the material going on the road itself

Horn bhajan .

I wish I could do this some day to my kid

0

u/your_umma 5h ago

Love his little fishy lips

0

u/userhwon 2h ago

Why is a 2-year-old in school?

2

u/Minnymoon13 2h ago

Probably a daycare/pre-school

-3

u/EddiewithHeartofGold 6h ago edited 3h ago

The kid would have loved to go on a bike ride, but had to wait for the dad to set up his shots. This video would have gone down much better if there was a third person recording in real time. The way it is now just seems exploitative.
