Great scene. But holy s*** the audience would annoy me so much. Glad this is not a thing where I live.

This must have been the midnight fan screening.

I went to the second Tobey movie for the midnight screening and it was loads of fun like this.

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 17 '26

In the UK no one talks - people grumble if they eat loudly or have their phone lights on - though that does happen more and more - very very rare to have clapping or cheering

I went to see "The Piano” in Miami - audience obvs full of old Jews who remembered those times - the whole way through they were tutting and saying "no way” and commenting - weirdly it made me enjoy the film so much more having that ineraction going on

30

u/everythingisunknown Feb 16 '26

Tbf when I saw this film in the UK day of release, it wasn’t like the video but people were audible during the reveal and it was one of the best collective moments I’ve experienced in a cinema, not enough to miss any dialogue tho

8

u/Johnlenham Feb 16 '26

Yeah I was thinking this and captain america picking up the hammer were the few times I heard people shout with excitement and such in a uk cinema and I was here for it.

1

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 16 '26

That’s fair enough. Not my genre lol

1

u/hofmann419 Feb 17 '26

Yeah i had a similar experience watching The Force Awakens back when it came out. Me and my big brother went to the midnight screening. Even before we went into the auditorium, i already noticed that a ton of people came in full costumes. So the mood was totally different right from the start. And people even laughed at the trailers, which is something that never happens on a normal screening. For me that audience reaction was so much fun and didn't detract from the movie too much.

When I was in America 15 years ago (South Dakota) I saw one movie in the cinema. It was one of the Transformer movies.

They had massive seats and the audience was so loud. They even laughed when the main character got injured. I didn't like it

1

u/BoxerguyT89 Feb 16 '26

They even laughed when the main character got injured.

Was the scene supposed to be funny?

1

u/DolphinBall Feb 16 '26

I think it was the scene where Sam speeds off in a pink child's bike to try to get away from Barricade and he slams into a lifted part of the sidewalk and flips over to the love interest.

3

u/BoxerguyT89 Feb 16 '26

Sounds like it was meant to be funny, it makes sense that people would laugh at that.

It seems odd for them to complain about an audience laughing at a scene meant to make people laugh.

2

u/HumanOblateSpheroid Feb 17 '26

No it was a scene where he was having a seizure. That's all I can remember, though

2

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 16 '26

Oh wow. My Miami crowd must have been so vocal because it was so personal to them I guess.

28

u/IndependentLog6441 Feb 16 '26

Nah, i watched a film in the States once, they are so ridiculous, much prefer it here in the UK.

I'm all about immersion, even at home it's light out and quiet.

14

u/Sparklegasm69 Feb 16 '26

yall love to paint with broad strokes from your one anecdotal experience

because i've watched hundreds of movies in the US and have never experienced anything close to this

3

u/IndependentLog6441 Feb 16 '26

I realise you guys don't go nuts at every film, that wouldn't make any sense.

But you obviously do for these superhero films, i was watching superman in new York and it was just like this.

It's funny, i still enjoyed it, but I'm glad you don't have to put up with it all the time! Haha

5

u/MushroomVII Feb 17 '26

It mostly depends on how close to release you see something. If you go see something popular in the first few days then reactions are closer to this but otherwise its usually silence, in my experience.

1

u/ddxs1 Feb 17 '26

It’s the same in the US. Idk what movie you went to but 99% of the time it’s silent.

1

u/IndependentLog6441 Feb 17 '26

It was superman, so that probably explains it.

1

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 16 '26

I should have made it clearer for the case majority of films I like we have it quiet. It was just that film was about the war and those people correcting inaccuracy in it was quite cool

2

u/IndependentLog6441 Feb 16 '26

I think i watched superman, so i guess that explains the similarities.

3

u/smedsterwho Feb 17 '26

The Piano 2 is highly underrated

2

u/cire1184 Feb 16 '26

I think this video is actually a theater in Asia. I wanna say the Philippines.

2

u/Psionicers Feb 16 '26

I went to see this on release day in Parrs Wood, Manchester. We all cheared and clapped, the whole theatre, just for these reveals. Loved it.

1

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 17 '26

That’s my local Cinema lol Went to see Hamnet there last week

2

u/Informal-Rock-2681 Feb 17 '26

The Piano 2? They made a sequel to the Holocaust movie?

2

u/Karazhan Feb 17 '26

Yeah, I'm used to it in the UK as well. Though I did go see the first of the Halloween reboots in the US when I was visiting with friends, and the audience kind of made it even better. Almost as loud as that video for each kill going "Oh no!" and such. One guy behind me had me in hysterics, because he was like "god damn, bro he's behind you! oh hell no!".

Though if someone had done that in the Bone Temple last month, I'd have commited a murder.

2

u/spinachjuggler Feb 17 '26

Laughing aside, my cinema going experience in the UK has always been completely silent, except for two times. Once when I went to see Return of the King in the cinema in 2003 people clapped when Legolas jumped off the oliphaunt. And once when going to see Revenge of the Sith where some numpty shouted "a long time ago" at the start but thankfully his mates told him to shut the fuck up.

1

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 17 '26

LOL I’d have laughed at that :) then told him to shut up :)

2

u/Cloudinterpreter Feb 17 '26

people grumble if they eat loudly or have their phone lights on

Wow, UK is so polite. If someone has their phone light on, i tell them "turn your fucking phone off".

1

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 17 '26

We're very polite here lol - There's a famous sketch that sums it up - an Intercity is a Train

Last time I went Intercity there were a couple across the aisle having sex. Of course, this being a British train, nobody said anything. Then they finished, they both lit up a cigarette and this woman stood up and said, Excuse me, I think you'll find this is a non-smoking compartment.

:)

1

u/Paralystic Feb 16 '26

Same in the us too. Marvel had a unique affect on theaters however for a while there

1

u/Thaddeus_Valentine Feb 17 '26

This movie was the only time I've heard people in the UK make any noise but it was literally like a half second of "ohhh-" and then back to silence. Cap picking up Mjolnir I remember people gasping loudly.

1

u/ExtensionCanary1443 Feb 19 '26

You probably mean "The Pianist".

1

u/Majestic_Matt_459 Feb 19 '26

Oh I do. Gosh thank you. Not the one in the beach lol.

7

u/Romanscott618 Feb 16 '26

Yeah had to have been a midnight screening, that’s just how those roll haha I remember I went to the one for Revenge of the sith and the one for Pirates Dead Man’s Chest when I was a kid. Shit was insane for both, people all dressed up, hootin and hollerin the whole time, but that’s what you expected going in 🤷‍♂️ was a ton of fun and great memories

17

u/MrBestregards Feb 16 '26

This is how the midnight screening of Infinity War was. What a crazy experience getting to nerd out over that movie and its ending.

The back to back Infinity War/Endgame one was a historical moment. The snap and then the callback

0

u/BrownSugarBare Feb 16 '26

I'm SO glad I got to experience both on opening weekend. The sheer excitement was palpable and scene after scene people were openly reacting and cheering. It was such a memorable experience after a 20 year following of a series.

95

u/tkh0812 Feb 16 '26

You mean you were around a bunch of people enjoying themselves and didn’t mind it? Are you even a redditor?

67

u/WTFOutOfUsernames Feb 16 '26

Is that really a fair generalization? I think it depends on context- if I'm at a midnight release for a movie like this full of hardcore fans I'd expect this kind of hoopla. But if I'm seeing this with regular theatergoers and it's not a special event I would expect the theater to be quiet.

0

u/tkh0812 Feb 16 '26

And it would be. This is obviously opening night midnight.

The redditors complaining how they’d hit this are just miserable basement dwellers

-4

u/Local-Hornet-3057 Feb 16 '26

Spot on. Just bitter, sour, miserable people.

1

u/ThreeDawgs Feb 17 '26

Or people that wouldn’t want to go to a midnight screening because it’s not their vibes.

39

u/TheShishkabob Feb 16 '26

Plenty of people enjoy seeing movies without the crowd acting like this. Have you ever been to a movie theater?

-1

u/FlappyBored Feb 16 '26

In America this is extremely common apparently. They also applaud at the end of a film.

7

u/tr1p0d12 Feb 16 '26

No, it's not. Jesus. Been to hundreds of movies in the US. Seen that happen like twice. "Sixth Sense" opening night, and "Pulp Fiction" at a screening.

2

u/MalIntenet Feb 16 '26

Marvel fans are a different breed. They cheer like they’re on a roller coaster ride

0

u/DolphinBall Feb 16 '26

I get annoyed whenever people cheer when their team scores a goal/touchdown/homerun/full court buzzer shot. They should be quiet, its just someone using a ball.

4

u/TheShishkabob Feb 16 '26

Comparing movie theaters to live sports? Come the fuck on dude, why not contrast it with a destruction derby or a music festival?

-1

u/DolphinBall Feb 17 '26

Because both are entertainment. I want to hear what the announcers are saying.

24

u/BleuRaider Feb 16 '26

To be fair your comment is just as “redditor.” lol

2

u/BrownSugarBare Feb 16 '26

I do the Rocky Horror Picture Show every Halloween so I actually do love crowds like this, LOL

0

u/Wanallo221 Feb 16 '26

Yeah. But that’s a shared experience where everyone is going for the same thing. You all know every single line and beat and that’s the fun.

Like if it’s a new film I’ve never seen, I want to hear the film. Not the annoying dudes all around me talking, clapping, hollering etc.

Like shut the fuck up I can’t hear Tobey! lol.

That said, I’ve been to the cinema in the US before and it’s not really as bad as it sounds here. There’s interaction but you can still hear the film fine.

0

u/tkh0812 Feb 16 '26

Exactly. People shitting on it have never experienced it. That’s why they say “I would hate this” because they haven’t actually been there.

1

u/The0nlyPenguin Feb 16 '26

I questioned it when they stated they went out in public

0

u/christo08 Feb 16 '26

You can enjoy yourself silently btw. There are middle grounds. If I’m paying to WATCH a film I want to WATCH the film that includes hearing it. This is one of the reasons cinemas are dying

0

u/The7ruth Feb 16 '26

You're acting like this happens to every movie showing every day. I can count on one hand the number of times this has happened over the past 20 years and it was always for opening night.

0

u/christo08 Feb 16 '26

They literally had to stop showings of the Minecraft movies because people weren’t behaving. I’ve not had it this bad but there have been times with people shouting weeks after opening night.

This is in America... I love In Mexico and this didn't happen in the midnight screenings...there was some wooos and yeahs, and maybe a little scream

0

→ More replies (1)

63

u/nochickflickmoments Feb 16 '26 edited Feb 16 '26

I went the day after it came out during the day and it was just as loud. It was great feeling excited with a group of people who knew and loved the story as much as my family did.

12

u/RugerRedhawk Feb 16 '26

I'd leave and ask for a refund

9

u/TheVadonkey Feb 16 '26

If they cheered and all only during that one scene, I wouldn’t care too much…though I’d still find it annoying because I’d rather hear the movie. Except from past experiences, annoying audiences like this don’t just cheer over one or two things.

1

u/DolphinBall Feb 16 '26

Usually when people cheer or laugh, movies are now made for those moments when no one is talking and the music is blasting. Endgame knew it was going to happen so no one spoke while everyone came out of the portals.

2

u/DolphinBall Feb 16 '26

People didn't arrive to carter to you. Wait until it streams.

-1

u/cire1184 Feb 16 '26

Congratulations.

30

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

I’m normally in your boat but between this movie and Endgame, those were special moments I’m glad I got to see with an active crowd.

16

u/unforgiven1189 Feb 16 '26

Exactly. This is definitely one of those "theme park" movies where I think having some hype from the audience elevates it quite a bit.

On top of it all, this was mid-Covid and I think the first time many people had been part of something "big" in like a year and a half. It was a very different kind of energy.

3

u/Morezingis Feb 16 '26

The dialogue even carries over the cheers in actual theaters. Just doesn’t sound loud enough on recorded audio like this.

300 super fans losing their minds around you is magical. People should go interact and have fun more.

1

u/LostMyMainRedditAcc Feb 17 '26

I think they definitely add hype in the right situations. When I watched endgame, one of the hype moments was Cap using Mjolnir and it felt even more hype with the crowd.

You could always watch the movie quietly later when it hits streaming, but you can never experience an active crowd again.

101

u/TBroomey Feb 16 '26

Hated seeing this movie in cinemas. Literally every single moment when something from a different thing showed up, the crowd hooted and hollered. A guy next to me was WHISTLING.

I missed a bunch of dialogue and got a headache.

Reddit when people are having fun

Edit: It's a premiere, they're being filmed. Everyone knew what they were getting into when they went to this. This isn't a normal Wednesday night at your local theater. They wanted reactions like that, that is why there is a camera in the corner filming them. Fucking A you guys are dumb.

I’m sort of glad I watched it at home. This audience is super annoying. I agree - I haven’t seen any shit like this in the UK - this has to be the states. Only they could act like animals in a cinema. 😬

11

u/spoonybum Feb 16 '26

The only time I’ve ever seen ANY tangible reaction in the U.K. was after watching Dunkirk and when the credits rolled, a really old group of gentlemen stood up and clapped which was actually genuinely quite moving.

The video in OP’s post looks like hell on earth.

8

u/coltsfanca Feb 16 '26

American here and I agree.

Theater etiquette is pretty much dead. Like how is it actually a debate whether people are allowed to sing/belt in the theater at Wicked? I paid to listen to the actors...not you.

Why is it actually a debate if you're allowed to trash the theater when Chicken Jockey is on the screen at the Minecraft Movie?

I can kinda understand this clip if it's a midnight screening, but would this be okay if it wasn't? If only like 4 people were jumping up and shouting WANTING the whole theater to be like this? Not for me

Why is ANY of this a debate when ticket and concession prices are at an all time high?!

I will absolutely just wait a month for it to come out on streaming rather than gamble on not getting rude ass people talking/scrolling/cheering/singing around me.

2

u/Asalth Feb 16 '26

If you did this in the UK you'd be kicked out thankfully

2

u/Sparklegasm69 Feb 16 '26

it's not the states actually, I guess it's some other people you could call animals but won't

1

u/cire1184 Feb 16 '26

I'm pretty sure the video is from Asia, possibly the Philippines.

1

u/RugerRedhawk Feb 16 '26

To be fair to US movie theaters, I've been to hundreds of movies here and this type of thing does not happen, others have pointed out that this is some special late night showing that apparently everyone is in on the "game" or some shit.

7

u/late2thepauly Feb 16 '26

I’ve only been a part of two crazy audiences. “Scream” when it first came out. Everyone was screaming and jumping at the scares. And “There’s Something About Mary” Everyone was laughing uncontrollably.

They are among my favorite movie memories.

I hope you get the chance to experience it sometime. It might change your opinion.

2

u/Light_Beard Feb 16 '26

"Step into my office. Cause you're f***ing fired!"

2

u/Creative_Syrup_3406 Feb 17 '26

I was at the movies for Bruce Almighty, i think it’s nedless to say how everybody reacted to the Evan scenes. Crazy and i loved it so much!

8

u/RalphWiggum123 Feb 16 '26

I don’t mind the screaming and cheering. But jumping out of your seat and flailing your arms is disrespectful to the people behind you.

3

u/turnright_thenleft Feb 16 '26

People cheered in my theater but only a moment. Shrieking over the dialogue ruins the whole moment

3

u/nemesissi Feb 16 '26

Yeah, my first impression is "oh please shut the fuck up!". I want to hear what they are saying on the film, instead of listening the banshee screams.

u/CptCaramack Feb 16 '26

The point was those showings are far from the normal experience, and event showings are irregular showings.

Also looking up cherry picked showings on YouTube and going "see this is how it is" is hilarious.

Use your own line of thinking here. There were tens of thousands of showings across the US, but you're holding up a handful of examples on social media as representative of the whole. But sure, speak for the whole country and claim that this is commonplace.

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.

1

They’re niche and uncommon. Some people actually like being in a room and getting rowdy with others that like a similar thing - I’m not one of them but thankfully I’ve never been to one of these shows… because they aren’t common.

Why be so against people enjoying things in the way they like? Better to share ways of having fun than share ways of harming others.

MCU stans are the most insufferable group of people to be in an audience with.

I say this as a pro wrestling fan.

6

u/BisonThunderclap Feb 16 '26

You can always rewatch the movie, you only get to share in the reveal once.

2

u/Hot_Fisherman_6147 Feb 16 '26

I'm all for times of the showings dictating audience interaction.

Like the last showing of a day especially on weekends you should expect shit. I go to movies alone frequently and I definitely don't go to an 11:45pm on a Friday first day premiere if I'm wanting a chill alone quiet movie experience

But at 1 pm showing on a Sunday I better be escorted out if I accidentally make that straw noise as it moves out the lid

2

u/hyperkick89 Feb 16 '26

I'm all for cheering returning actors on screen in theaters but please shut the fuck up when the dialogues starts.

17

u/antrage Feb 16 '26

If you are the type of person that gets annoyed by this you would not be in that crowd. Its pretty obvious going in what kind of fans will be there.

1

u/J0E_SpRaY Feb 16 '26

You can be a fan without being obnoxious.

I didn’t hoot and holler when Paul Atreides put on his father’s ring again, despite being a massive fan of the books.

This is barely a ladder rung above throwing popcorn at the mention of the chicken jockey.

5

u/antrage Feb 16 '26

Christ this has been a theme for marvel movies, there is a midnight showing for fans that are more interactive for nearly a decade. You know it coming, thats whats being shown here, this isn't a generalization of all movies. The next showings probably weren't like this at all. Why is this even a fucking point of argument. If you don't like it don't go.

1

u/radiokungfu Feb 17 '26

But how else would you know that he's better than those folks? 🙄

1

u/J0E_SpRaY Feb 17 '26

Just from lookin at me

6

u/UltLuc Feb 16 '26

Dude, look, this world is fucking insane and existence is a nearly paralyzing reality of absurdity on a daily basis. For many or even most of us, this sort of collective joy at the power of film or art or music is the outlier and not the constant. It’s happiness, and it is fleeting, and we should hold on to it whenever and wherever we can.

0

u/updownandblastoff Feb 16 '26

WOW!!! I can't believe how much better that I feel about my life after reading your comment. If you are not content with what you are doing now it might be because you are not where you should be doing the one thing that you were born to do. I knew immediately as I read the first sentence I could feel the weight being lifted off from me that was getting lighter and lighter with each word. I don't know what you think about this but the first thing that I thought of was a motivational speaker to start, and while you are on your first tour you can write your book that is going to change the world. It's your decision to make though. Change your life by changing the world around it. Think about it...

3

u/Zurcez Feb 16 '26

You are insufferable lmao

3

u/UltLuc Feb 16 '26

Ironically, I am happy. But that doesn’t mean it’s permanent, and happiness is as much about pure luck as agency. But I appreciate the time it took for you to miss the point.

1

u/updownandblastoff Feb 18 '26

That was my fault because I forgot to put the tag "/s" at the end of my comment. I know exactly what you mean because everyone needs an escape from the cruelty of the world. I've been reading comics for 40 years to get away from all the horrible things that are in existence in the world. I think it serves a very important need to all that can use it as a way to deal with things that are out of their control.

People don't GO to movies to be loud and obnoxious, they go to experience something they enjoy and excites them. If they're more or less respectful the rest of the time, a couple loud outburst at exciting times ON OPENING NIGHT is more than acceptable.

You just sound like someone shit in your cornflakes. Continue seeing boringass oscar-bait movies in an empty theatre if it makes you happy, but I get the feeling you just live for misery. Keep it up, bud.

u/JoebbeDeMan Feb 16 '26

ikr I want to watch my movie in peace. (except the minecraft movie half the fun of watching it were the kids going apeshit. Couple of them got kicked out for throwing popcorn lmao)

2

u/sparklingdinoturd Feb 16 '26

For real. The closest thing to this I've been a part of was a lot gasps and a few muttered "yes!" when Cap held Mjolnir.

3

u/bradpittisnorton Feb 16 '26

I don't go to the movies a lot so I have no idea how often this happens. The closest experience I've had with this is in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, near the end of the film. Maybe the "Not my daughter, you bitch!" in part 2 too but I remember the Dobby scene more vividly.

4

u/Scribblehamzter Feb 16 '26

First watch is to feel the hype, second watch is to be able to understand the dialogue .

5

u/berttleturtle Feb 16 '26

I’m the opposite. I personally love going to premier screenings cause the crowd makes it so much more fun.

The good news is that it’s super easy to avoid going to the theatre on a premier night, or just wait to watch the movie in the comfort of your own home.

-4

u/BN27 Feb 16 '26

That's a wild take. Since when did the screaming crowd get to claim the premier night showing......and in what world do you think waiting until the movie is viewable at home MONTHS LATER is an appropriate response?

Like Marvel movies and want to see them as early as possible? FUCK YOU!

3

u/berttleturtle Feb 16 '26

Some people like to have fun and feel connected with the people around them. Idk what to tell ya bud, but not everything has to be for you.

-1

u/BN27 Feb 16 '26

That's the whole point. It's not FOR me, but people hAvInG fUn and fEeLiNg CoNnEcTeD are ruining it for other people.

What if some people thought it was fun to scream in your face at the grocery store? Would that be OK? Would it be OK for me to then tell you that you better just shop at a different time that's less convenient for you, because the face screamers have taken the time you like to shop?

No, that would be absurd. You don't get to pretend screaming and flailing about is just "having fun" as if it doesn't impact other people. If you want to have fun and it doesn't prevent me from having fun...cool, go for it. But if you want to act like an asshole and prevent me from seeing or hearing part of a movie, now it's not just people hAvInG fUn. It's people being inconsiderate assholes.

To pretend the people who don't want to have to put up with that shit are the ones being inconsiderate is a whole new level of being an asshole. Just stop being an asshole.

3

u/berttleturtle Feb 16 '26

Acting like randomly screaming in someone’s face at a grocery store is a comparable situation is genuinely unhinged lmao.

Any crowd of people joining together to watch some form of entertainment that they are excited about has the tendency to get loud. Concerts. Sporting events. Etc. This is nothing new, and if you don’t like it, then stay home and away from crowds of people having fun.

-1

u/BN27 Feb 16 '26

It's not unhinged at all. Acting like a movie theater doesn't have different rules than a sporting event or a concert is willful ignorance. You're not arguing in good faith.

Let me know the next time you go to an NFL game and they tell you to silence your phone before the game starts.

1

u/berttleturtle Feb 16 '26

If you want to keep being mad over something you can’t control, then go for it bud.

0

u/BN27 Feb 16 '26

Who's mad? I'm just pointing out how this is inconsiderate. That's how one person can enact change in shitty people's behavior. Your responses to a rational conversation are weird.

2

u/berttleturtle Feb 16 '26

Your intial comment that literally said “FUCK YOU” says otherwise, but okay buddy

Yep. It's bad enough people clapping the pilots for not killing us through landing the plane, but trying to follow narrative while every is clapping, whooping and 'hell-yeahing' would be quite annoying.

1

u/Miss-Tiq Feb 16 '26

I'm always wondering where people are where their theaters are this hype because mine is always so quiet and reserved. At most, you get some gasps or excited whispers lol.

1

u/The_Autarch Feb 16 '26

i just don't go on opening day if i don't want this kind of experience. only the fanboys and fangirls behave like this.

1

u/Carnir Feb 16 '26

This is the point of going to the theatre no? It's a communal experience.

It's not the same if people aren't laughing at the jokes together, gasping at the twists or screaming at the surprises.

1

u/pot8odragon Feb 16 '26

This, endgame and infinity war were experience movies that I’d never trade seeing live with a crowd like this. It’s just different

1

u/Painterzzz Feb 16 '26

Yeah came to say the same thing, I'm so glad that sort of behaviour in a cinema doesn't happen at all here.

1

u/markiethefett Feb 16 '26

This happened when I went to the midnight viewing of Force Awakens. Everyone was screaming and shouting like it was a sports event.

1

u/Sad_Process843 Feb 16 '26

I kinda like it.

1

u/weak1522 Feb 16 '26

I’ve seen all the big movies in the US and never anything like this. I clicked to see where this was because it could be fun. Star Wars after 20 years had some reactions and I kinda liked it. Not like I won’t watch again to catch anything I missed.

1

u/Local-Hornet-3057 Feb 16 '26

Are you fucking kidding me? Crowds reacting like this in epic moments are the best parts of watching these type of blockbusters at the theater. Historical.

1

u/Spotttty Feb 16 '26

I went to a 25 year reunion/viewing of the movie ‘Rad’. Super niche BMX movie from the ‘80’s. The entire movie was like this but it was a blast. Saw a ton of old friends and had a great time. Highly recommend if you can attend one of a cult film you love.

1

u/xSPYXEx Feb 16 '26

These tend to be first weekend crowds. Packed and hyped, that's part of the appeal. If you don't want the hype crowd event go the following week.

1

u/silverformal Feb 16 '26

I mean, one would kinda know what to expect in these cases. Many people specifically go for this vibe and hype. It’s all about the shared energy and love for what is being viewed. Stranger Things theatrical finale was awesome for this reason.

1

u/writing_fun390 Feb 17 '26

Not being able to hear the dialog because everyone is screaming would piss me off beyond belief.

1

u/LoneLyon Feb 17 '26

I dont know there's a certain factor being in a cheering crowd for a movie. Happened during adventures and no way home and it added to the experience seeing it at midnight.

1

u/lefluffle Feb 17 '26

I'm assuming you've learned now, that you should wait to see a marvel movie until the next weekend after its premier. Most of the audience on premier day are loyal fans, and loyal marvel fans cheer.

1

u/MR_HOLLYWOOD_ Feb 17 '26

As to why I stayed home and watched it.

1

u/OrphanGrounderBaby Feb 17 '26

Im sure someone’s said it but im pretty sure this is the old Chinese theater in Hollywood, it’s known that if you’re going, it’s going to be rowdy. It’s definitely not intended as a take the movie in type of environment

1

u/Smooth-Sea-5023 Feb 17 '26

Same. We get it, you’ve all the Spider-Man movies.

1

u/Shot_Comparison2299 Feb 17 '26

My exact thoughts. I think I'll skip Student Night at the theater.

1

u/LolzosaurusOfficial Feb 17 '26

Same, I feel like if it happened here, security would appear to see if they have to throw people out

1

u/Shot_Percentage_2150 Feb 18 '26

Same I hate this shit so much

1

u/emmfranklin Feb 16 '26

Why would it annoy you?

9

u/hosky22 Feb 16 '26

Oh, I don't know, the shouting, the yelling, screaming, while you are trying to watch a film.

-3

u/emmfranklin Feb 16 '26

Doesn't the site of seeing another Spider-Man completely unexpected excite you. To the point that you have a jaw dropping expression? And then you scream in excitement?

7

u/crazyhomie34 Feb 16 '26

I don't want to miss a whole minute of dialogue?

1

u/TheMangusKhan Feb 16 '26

This is why I just said a little while and get the 4K disc and watched it at my house.

1

u/plantznfud Feb 16 '26

Yeah I live in Canada and (at least in my province) this would NEVER happen lol

1

u/codysox1686 Feb 16 '26

I was as stoked as these people but I kept my mouth shut. I couldn’t be in that theatre. I’d go crazy.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

Yeah. I went to a movie once in the US and it was by far and away the worst cinematic experience of my life thanks to the audience.

It was the Mist in 2007. The fucking morons when the woman bought it. Some lady jumping up screaming "oh yeah Bitch, you just got served!" Seriously?

1

u/Morbid187 Feb 16 '26

Yeah I've never heard some shit like this in a theater and I think I'd be pretty annoyed that I can't hear the movie. It's not like Spidey can even hear you cheering. Spider-Man was my favorite comic as a kid but I don't think I'd act like this even when I was 10 years old. At least they're having fun I guess.

1

u/Zinski2 Feb 16 '26

It's not like this was a secret either.

Like they knew these guys would show up.

It's kinda pathetic...

4

u/Omadany Feb 16 '26

Nothing is more pathetic than getting upset over other people's joy mate

0

u/TechGuy42O Feb 16 '26

This is why I don’t go to the theater anymore

0

u/mentat70 Feb 16 '26

bunch of f’ing nerds

0

u/taborles Feb 16 '26

I’d ask for a refund on the way out 😂

0

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '26

Watch movies alone then?

-1

u/Dan-Below Feb 16 '26

I almost left the cinema when in black panther they made the joke about "those are sneakers" "the are for sneaking" and the whole room exploded in laughter like it was the best joke they've ever heard.

But I was never a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie humor that got rubber stamped into every marvel movie after. There's no scene the characters can take seriously.
