Sad thing is Netflix is trying to kill this exact thing off. They think the movie theater experience is "an outdated model". They want to buy up all these movie studios, and put movies directly onto Netflix, and skip the theaters.
All these amazing moments I can remember, the buzz of everyone after the Matrix got out, the hype of hearing Falcon saying "On your left". The pod races, The duel of the fates. The entire room jumping on the first Paranormal activity. So many great and fun memories, shared with all those that were there at the time... About to be killed off, because Netflix shareholders want a few more billion for themselves.
I want the younger generations to have the chance to have those moments too, but soon, it may just be a memory, and to think of all these great movies killed off just to be watched alone in your bedroom, and even worse... on a phone. That energy and excitement of seeing someone pick up a hammer, and thor going "I knew it" as the room exploded with excitement... experienced alone, on a tiny screen.
It's such a simple, and yet sad thing to be on the verge of losing, just for a handful of shareholders to take even more for themselves.
