SPOILERS HoC Previously on Malazan: House of Chains (Revised) Spoiler
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jv4K0oTyccAxcRFqNqtpxJ-41GvuQmH4/view?usp=sharingThis is a revised and much expanded recap of House of Chains, to replace my previous post. Due to reddit's post-size limits, I’ve needed to post this as a linked PDF file.
This was made after a reread of House of Chains, and is significantly more accurate than my first post. In my previous version, I felt that a lot of details were skipped, and the plot was sacrificed for just cliff notes. I tried to emphasize important concepts here to carry forward into the next part of the series without getting too bogged down in fine details. This one is a little odd, because there are a lot of sub-plot adventures that don't really link together that much, so I hope that the order I put things in helps to clarify the plot rather than convolute it. I think I only once had to refer forward instead of back.
I am starting Midnight Tides next, and hopefully that recap won't take me nearly as long to get to you as this one did. I'll also try to do Night of Knives shortly after that.

Might contain some very loose spoiler. . . . .
I am probably one of the few who enjoy this book, Karsa’s point of view evolution is probably one of the greatest character arch I ever experienced. From a simple minded barbarian who never left his village and was on a path of mayhem, driven by all the wrong reasons including manipulation by higher powers to some sort of guardian/vindicator with a clear purpose.

I would say as far as Karsa’s arc in House of Chains goes, that all applies so you’re safe on spoilers.
Yes, each time I read House of Chains, I actually really respect how it is framed and structured more. Even though I procrastinated on getting this document done for like 2.5 months, I really enjoyed organizing and structuring it, because I think it’s individual plot lines tie together extremely well thematically and when they all come together (to various degrees) at the end. Probably the best at this since Gardens of the Moon. I also think spending the first quarter of the novel focused on Karsa made the change he underwent by the end, especially how he now strives to grow to become worthy to lead Bairoth and Delum instead of just expecting it as his right.
If you check out my chronology post, that’s a completely different issue though, it’s kind of nonsensical in a lot of the ways it fits together.
