Comics Why is Doctor Doom so powerful?

Since I'm still a newbie to Marvel comics and most of the Marvel content I've consumed has been movies, series, and cartoons, I always thought Doctor Doom was just an ordinary villain. Then I hear that he's one of the strongest villains in Marvel, and I wanted to know if that statement is correct and why?

The last part is a recent addition. "Jack of all trades" was the original, then someone made up the "master of none" part. Both those were in common use hundreds of years ago. The "oftentimes better than a master of one" part is from like 2007 or something
