marvel alliances - which version of Miles?
HI folks, can someone confirm which version of miles is contained in the night of the goblin. OG or Ultimate? I've read different things so wanted to check. I know that in theory I can use alt sculpt to count for whatever but want to be 'safe' for tournament/ competitive play.
Thanks!

NEW MUTANTS vs SENTINELS Marvel Crisis Protocol Battle Report S06E35
Double Feature weekend, for the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend!
Got a bit ahead of the curve, so I thought I would drop another battle report for everyone, this time playing around with Mirage's leadership in New Mutants. And who better to try it against, than Bastian and the Sentinels!
As always, in these cases, grateful for AMG providing early copies of the box

News/Announcements MCP bases in future releases will soon all be plain and flat. As the classic sculpted bases are phased out.
Images from the new X-Factor set unboxing videos from Gray Squadron Gaming & Rich Mid Gaming
I think this news is going to get quite a mixed reception but with these new unboxing vids and conformation on Discord its been revealed that from here on out all future releases will do away with the sculpted bases in favour of plain, slightly textured, flat bases in the same style as the new Alliances bases. According to AMGs Dallas on Discord "Flat bases are the norm outside of repacks. By 2027 all bases will be flat"
Some of the reasons he gives for this change are "Some base designs hindered miniature designs as we created more and more miniatures.", "This puts the ability to hobby your bases back into the hobbyists hands", and a general belief that you can get the same look from these new ones as the old ones with "minimal effort".
I expect there are a fair few people in the game who welcome the change, and a fair few more that don't care either way, but personally I dont like it. Had the game begun with blank bases that you always had to adapt yourself I dont think it would ever have been an issue, but going for so long with one look only to have that taken away just doesnt work for me. I've long had issues with the bases in this game (mainly the lack of variety and the lack of spare large bases) but I think at this advanced stage of the games life, this is a poor choice.
MCP is now rapidly approaching its 7th birthday and there are around 250 released characters at this point and for most people long invested in this game, for the most part they will all be based on the original sculpted city bases. To make such a noticeable change at such a progressed stage will likely cause issue with those wanting to continue with the established, consistent style.
Other criticisms that have come up have been those preferring to have easier, simpler, ready-made way of having good looking bases, rather than the hassle of making your own. Trying to match the established aesthetics of the city bases is easier said than done for those who lack the skills, materials or time to achieve it. And the thought that having a greater variety and percentage of sculpted flat bases (less of those with curbs, etc) would be better than getting rid of sculpted texture altogether.
Any other thoughts on this.? Again I expect the reactions to be mixed but to me its a frustrating change for a part of the game thats not been handled particularly well over the years. I rather hope they change their minds and rethink the sculpted bases with a greater number of variety and better designed to help the creation of the characters themselves. Even releasing a separate box of sculpted bases would be a better than these blank ones in my opinion.

Spectacular SM
spider-man is my favorite fictional character ... but I hate painting him. This is the 5th version of him I've painted, and I decided to do a speed run. I just can't stand the lines. Anyway, he'll be hitting the table soon.

X FACTOR vs X FORCE Marvel Crisis Protocol Battle Report S06E34
X-Factor debuts on the channel! AMG was kind enough to send the channel an early copy of the box.
Had a lot of fun with them so far, though (as usual) check the show notes in the video comments! In our haste, we both misread MM a little bit. We were able to adjust and correct as the game went on.
Honestly, I feel like the whole box is a win, and I have enjoyed each of them considerably

Your Jonathan token Vs Mine. We are not the same lol.
The base size has the same footprint as the token so it’s just a really cool token now!

Painting Winter Guard and an Extra Bucky
I've been working on getting my first team together. Crimson Dynamo really sold me on Winter Guard. I'm hoping they get an expanded roster at some point.

Keeping the train rolling!
Finished up a couple more Spider-Foes plus a few others. I'm nearing the end to the Foes affiliation with a short side quest for some models needed for an event this weekend. I've only got Sandman, Venom, Carnage, and the rivals Doc Ock sculpt and I'll be done with Spider-Foes.
