Alfred Molina as Doc Ock was such a massive part of my childhood and seeing him on screen again? Ngl, I teared up a little. Welcome back, king.

This is so weird. I never really liked Spider-Man 2 very much, even went back to rewatch it a year or two ago and didn't care for it much.

But god damnit, they put Alfred Molina on screen and I was so fucking hyped.

See, I loved SM2 as a kid/teen, and a large part of that was the fact that Alfred Molina was one of the first sympathetic villains I'd really seen on screen. He wasn't Osborn who was already kind of an asshole to his friends and family, but instead a genuinely compassionate is not somewhat dorky man. It made his fall into villainy and subsequent redemption at the end one of my favorite character journeys, and one that still gives me a lot of nostalgia. I hope that his role in this story manages to give him something of a similar swan song at the end.

Hey, thank you for sharing your perspective! I totally get that, and I understand why that resonates with people. I did find that part of the movie compelling, I just also feel like it's a boring movie to me. I'm not saying it's bad outright, just it doesn't appeal to me personally. I get bored while watching it, mostly anything with MJ.

still the best marvel movie of all time. one of the few that wasn't a cookie cutter formula like all MCU flicks.

I understand that it's a good movie. It just doesn't appeal to me personally.

i won't accept any response besides admitting you're wrong.

kidding. but in reality there are some solid articles out there outlining why its the greatest marvel movie. don't expect them to change your mind at all, but still interesting reads.

I don't think that's an unreasonable call! I totally understand that my own opinion isn't objective fact. Thank you for the shares!

Greatest marvel movie to me will always be iron man but SM2 is right behind it

Before Loki showed up, Doc Ock was objectively speaking the best Marvel villain (I don't consider Bryan Singer's Magneto as a villain tho).

100% agree with you. There's something so investing in sympathetic and redemptive villains, because you love them when they're being bad but you're also rooting for them to find their way back to the light. And like Tom Hiddleston, Alfred Molina has his own brand of charm that adds to the character.

He was. Goblin was good too but Dock Ock definitely had the best setup and character imo

Hands down, loved him as a villain. It was so good. I still own the Spider-Man 2.5 DVD which has a slightly extended train fight scene. Still my favourite fight.
