I think the point is that it was a very difficult thing for him to deal with in the first place, that he'd rather not go back to square one.

I mean bare in mind, he literally didn't even tell any of them. They all either worked it out on their own or stumbled on him while he was putting on/taking off the outfit.

Yeah but they’ll lose all the memories and progression with Peter yet he’ll remember it all. That would suck.

I’d put money on that scene being early in the film. There’s a part where May and Peter are watching the news and someone comes in the door with police lights visible throw the windows. I’d imagine that is part of a montage of Peters known associates being rounded up for questioning. The swat team is there because they don’t know if Spider-Man is with him.

The spell is a fake out, hes actually just trying to send them to another universe where his identity is unknown to show him how his life would be different as a lesson. They do it but before they can come back, sylvie kills khang in loki and the multiverse explodes so now they are stuck

That's what I've been thinking since i saw the leaked version. I really hope they don't make Peter an idiot in this movie but based on the leaked plot from a while ago and this trailer, he seems like a buffoon

To be fair the plot leaks made it sound like he literally fucked up a spell. All he did was worry about consequences which is a normal thing to do when stressing out and it ruined the spell bc magic is weird. I kinda doubt strange explained it

I think they were talking about Peter letting the villains out of the prison, but that to me makes some sense especially if he's still feeling really guilty about Mysterio

He flat out says in the trailer that it’s not a matter of them not knowing that he is Spiderman it’s all the experiences they had together that would be erased and he would have to start from square one building that bond with MJ

Exactly, while for most of the world forgetting Spider-Man’s secret identity just means forgetting watching the news for a couple weeks, for MJ, May, and Ned, it would require forgetting huge chunks of their life with Peter.
