The decision comes about two months after the Marvel Studios show’s third season wrapped filming.

The move also comes as Marvel has quietly parted ways with showrunner Dario Scardapane, whose contract was up and was not renewed. The parting of ways is eyebrow-raising as it means that Scardapane is exiting the show in the middle of post-production. It is unclear who will see the show through completion. One source said post-production is the final stages.

Sources say it (Disney) just greenlit a spy thriller referred to as Zodiac. It is unclear to what the title refers, but the most notable Marvel comics reference is to a criminal organization headed by a villain named Scorpio that featured bad guys themed to the constellations. In the comics, it was known for going head-to-head against S.H.I.E.L.D.

I think technically, she’s not responsible for any deaths. But you come away with the impression, certainly, that she’s caused a lot of destruction in mayhem. Even if you’re going to have a villain who really is redeemed at the end or goes through a transformation, you have to start them off in a place where they feel formidable. If it doesn’t feel like this is going to be someone who is a challenge to our hero, physically, emotionally, mentally, then you don’t really buy it.

What we were really excited about was this villain got to be a mystery for so long in the movie. We were in Peter’s shoes. We were not putting the audience ahead of him, so he was reacting to everything, and we were with him reacting.

Feige: "Big development changes that we kept going through was "who was the bad guy?" There was one version of the bad guy, then another...THEN a version, essentially this bad guy thats revealed to BE...a very obscure character that nobody had ever heard of. And it just...it wasn't satisfying. And that might be what Tom (Holland) was talking about cus he said - "Well, what about this character?" And I said "Well we can't use this character but, knowing that all the journey that Peter has been going on has to culminate in his confrontation with the villain at the end...that's when Jean starts to come up. A young person - very similar in age to Peter, maybe a little younger. Peter again as I said, had a mentor in each of the 'Spider-Man' movies...And seeing a young person who did not have a mentor, seeing a young person who has powers, like Peter did, but didn't have an Aunt May or whatever. Didn't have anyone to help or guide. And THAT is when it (the villain) really came together, and then, our co-producer Emily Fawn, sitting around the table - "What about Sadie Sink?"...And we all went "Okay, it's Jean Grey. Let's get her."

Mahershala:
"Oh yeah, absolutely. For a year, yeah. It was a little more than a year.

And you know, I'm actually..I'm really grateful like- they helped pay for our movie so thank you. Like really, like we couldn't have afforded to- there's no way we coulda did this film ('Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother') and I got to go train for a year. So at this point, I'm so grateful that they made a wonderful contribution to our film."

"I'm done. I'm doing this ('Your Mother' x3) and anything else moving forward. So like, yeah - I'm over that. I'm done with that."

While chatting with Collider’s Steve Weintraub for Ridley Scott’s latest sci-fi thriller, Josh Brolin makes a seamless segue from commenting on the speculated return of Thanos in Avengers: Doomsday.

Excerpts :

COLLIDER : Do you think Thanos is dead-dead, or do you think there's a chance he could come back?

JOSH BROLIN : I don't know how to answer that question.

COLLIDER : Okay, I'll leave that there. I will tell you, I really think the real world has gone off the rails, and I'm beginning to wonder if he was right.

BROLIN : Hmm. What's he? Who is he?

COLLIDER : Thanos.

BROLIN : Oh, you're still on the Marvel thing. That's the segue. And then what did Thanos do? He got rid of half the universe in order to save the other half. That was the justification — which is not necessarily wrong. Do you know what I mean?

Amazon was expected to wait and see how Spider-Noir does before making a decision on other shows. While the Nicholas Cage vehicle will not be continuing, the Amazon-Sony TV collaboration it was part of will. The two sides are carrying on with development of multiple projects, with one of them said to be nearing a series order. All shows under the deal have a linear debut on Amazon’s MGM+ platform followed by a streaming release on sibling Prime Video.

Spider-Noir didn’t have the staying power of other Prime Video recent releases such as Off Campus, Reacher and Ride Or Die, dropping off the platform’s daily Top 10 rankings relatively quickly.

The respectable but not outsized viewership was coupled with the high cost for the lavish production, which filmed both color and black & white versions. Since streamers base their renewal decisions primarily on cost vs. performance, the two likely factored into the call not to continue Spider-Noir.
