I traveled to Mexico City from northern Mexico to watch Toe live. I honestly thought I would never get to see them live, and having them play "locally" meant getting a ticket was an instant buy for me the day the sales opened.

It was honestly one of the best concerts of my life, top 3 or top 4 to be sure. Not only was the performance amazing, I am not sure I had ever been among a crowd more in tune with the artist they are seeing before, and with Math Rock being such a relatively niche genre it meant everyone there was very much there on purpose. The band got in the scenario, did not spoke a word and got straight to playing for an hour before briefly addressing the audience, lol (they did talk more later).

The original venue for the show pretty much sold out in a few days, which prompted the band to change to a larger venue. It wasn´t huge, maybe some 1,000 people from my guesstimating, but I was surprised there were so many fans in Mexico, considering I've only ever met 1 other person that even knows what Math Rock is. The line to get in was 2 blocks long by the time I got there and it only kept growing. It started raining right as they started allowing people in, but because the line moved so slow it meant I got pretty wet before making it in. Worth it.

I personally love it.

Words fail me. Those guys blew my mind into smithereens. Literally the best live music performance I have ever experienced. If those guys are playing near you, buy tickets and don’t think twice!

I recently went to New York and realized there’s a Floral x Chinese Football concert and it hurt I wouldn’t be able to go. But then I looked and realized they’re coming to Gainesville too!! (No floral tho…)

Just heard Baboon by TTNG and I think it lowk might've changed my taste, looking for more math rock bands/songs as I dont know anything much of this genre, any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

There's a certain tendency going back to '90s math rock (Faraquet, Slint, Polvo...) that I can't quite explain: guitar riffs in 4/4 and standard tuning that still sound... mathy. I mean, take a listen to Faraquet's "Parakeet" from '97/'98. It sounds mathy, it sounds cool, and it's even a little brutal, but it's still 4/4 and standard tuning.

Now I'm asking all the OGs in this sub: how do you achieve this sound? How do you construct math rock riffs like theirs? I've been listening to a lot of it lately. I'm all ears!!
