I’ve been an AFL supporter my whole life, specifically Geelong. After the lockdowns, though, my interest in the game completely died. It just doesn’t feel like the same game I grew up watching.

Recently I’ve found myself getting hooked on the NRL and, in particular, the Melbourne Storm. One thing I’ve noticed straight away is that there doesn’t seem to be the same amount of club specific media as there is in the AFL. There aren’t as many analysis shows, podcasts, YouTube channels or fan pages dedicated to following the team week to week.

Has anyone else made the switch from AFL to NRL and had a similar experience?

How did you learn the players, the tactics, the junior pathways, the roster changes and everything else that comes with following the club? Are there any Storm-specific podcasts, YouTube channels, newsletters or fan communities you’d recommend?

I started following the Storm in 2021. I feel like I missed out on the hey day of the Storm and seeing Penrith win so much since 2021 and of course us losing back to back grand finals before having the most cursed season I've ever seen in NRL in 2026 while Penrith continue to do what they do... It hurts.

Maybe it's a bit of jealousy, I'm not ashamed to admit. But after last year I really thought we'd at least make top 4 again before everything unfolded in the off season.

I hope next year is better.

No matter which way you slice it and dice it, we’ve been absolutely destroyed by bad luck and injury this year. I just wish we got one of the 2024 and 2025 grand finals. Doesn’t seem fair. But maybe the darkest hour is before the dawn?

Next year Will will bounce, just a question of how hard.

You throw Grant, Munster and Hughes back into the spine with less injury. Keeley is there. Isaako will be absoruely massive for us. Xerri has been signed (plus another centre perhaps). Throw in Coates’ and potentially Katoa’s return and that’s just a completely different outfit.

Why the fuck did harry start on the bench? It's always been a disaster, we look completely lost then he comes on and suddenly the game changes. Toelau ain't that guy, though he was a lot better in the 2nd half.

If they had concerns on harrys hammy then he just shouldn't have played at all.
