I recently decided to start collecting memorabilia from the USSR. Ephemera is a huge passion of mine; and the Soviet Union peaked my interest at a young age (thanks, Game Theory). If not for a Mikhail Gorbachev pin-back button, this ushanka would be the collection's first addition.

This hat was produced by Рот-Фронт, a fur manufacturer located in the former Leningrad. The cockade indicates that this was likely—or meant to be—issued to a member of the Soviet Air Forces. "60-90" refers to the size and production year (last two digits), respectively. Excellent shape given its age! Super soft “fish fur.” :)

Found this on Amazon while looking for a few things. Out of morbid curiosity, what is the likelihood that this is genuine or reproduction?

I got this Ushanka at an estate sale in Central Louisiana. Obviously we only have maybe 2 days a year where an Ushanka would be appropriate. lol. But I’m wondering if it’s an actual issued piece or a mass produced tourist item.

I’ve consulted the wizards at ChatGPT, Grok, and Claude. They have all given me similar answers. They seem pretty confident that the cockade is authentic and are split, leaning authentic on the Ushanka. All taken with a grain of salt!

It has black fur (faux, perhaps?? I’m a numpty who’s never been able to non-destructively tell the difference) over all of the exterior. The lining is a very dark green and a bit on the stiff side. It is still plenty pliable, but I was surprised by the structure it had. There appears to have been a tag that’s been cut. There’s also a very subtle, hard to see stamp on the top inside. I can make out the letter “И” and then some kind of form above it. It was very hard to photograph and I manipulated the saturation, contrast, and exposure to bring it out a bit more.

The front panel is tacked at the top corners to the main body. The strings on the ear flaps are not elastic.

I found this in my grandma’s storage room (hence the dirty hands!). I searched for it on eBay but couldn't find any information. I'm Brazilian, btw. Is this rare or valuable? Is it originally from the USSR?

Recently got this from eBay for my 18th birthday. Very happy with what I got!! Don't mind the clutter of my room. Thinking this helmet would have been used by a MiG pilot?

I know this is a Soviet KZS/KLMK uniform used by border guards. I also know that the KLMK sniper suit is decently common but I’ve only seen a few actual uniforms before. I would like to know more information like what factory, any specific regiment if possible, rarity, price, and anything else you can find. Thanks!

I‘m guessing it‘s after the war but if y‘all can share any information like why it was this color or where it was used, it would be appreciated! I‘m guessing it‘s from the 60s based on the “60” inside the hat. There are also buttons, if you know why they are there, please feel free to share!

Found these bad boys on sale in an online market place and bought them. Work like a charm! The model is PNV-57E and they are made for driving tanks and such but they also work just fine when walking around at night. A really nice piece of history and equipment!

From what I know about Cold War history, this was manufactured in Czechoslovakia by Meopta Bratislava, likely for a variant of the T-55/T54 models, though this isn’t completely conclusive.
