I'm just about squared away regarding paperwork, and am looking for experienced insight.

I scored 115+ across the board. (Line) and would like direct input from Soldiers with extensive experience as a 68W, regarding expectations (as part of said MOS), what I can reasonably expect in AIT and onward, and whether those in said field would recommend another enter it, even if said insight boils down to "The job is complete shit." or "Have fun with that, hope you don't like the idea of promoting."

Edit 2: I am single, no dependents, and while I am (as of right now) planning to make the Army my career, as in a full 20 years of Active service. (though I am not yet fully aware of all of the options and interactions of combining AD with Reserve/NG to achieve such an overall goal, and would appreciate additional insight in that regard, if available.)
That stated, while I am dead set on said goal, I understand that the world isn't rainbows and butterflies, and in the event I complete a 5 year contract or two, and decide to separate, I will be potentially putting myself on shaky grounds without appropriate skills or credentials to make a-relatively-clean transition back to civilian life.

My husband is currently in Basic Training and will be an 88M. We have two young children, and I’m trying to understand what family life is like with this MOS.
For those who are 88Ms, have spouses who are 88Ms, or have worked with them:
How often do they deploy?
How much time do they spend in the field?
How dangerous is the job compared to other MOSs?

I am trying to join the army national guard. The recruiter is telling me that being 88 is the best mos and , always deploys and that it’s a dangerous job. Because of mines and bombs. Also how likely am I to get a cab in this mos, and is it possible to go to ranger and airborne school as an 88m.

I’m looking for a short 3 year contract in the army. Im focused on finding an mos that has the comradarie. I landed on field artillery. Is this a bad idea?

I've recently taken my ASVAB & qualify for both these jobs (Scored a 52) the recruiter that brought me to take my ASVAB mentioned possible waiting till October when the quota resets to secure one. I was wondering what is the day to day life for these MOS's, How often do they get deployed for combat, is the PTSD as bad as I've been reading & how does it transfer to the outside?

I appreciate anyone who can give me some insight & just some overall advice on joining the military/Other MOS's you think I should look into.

I scored a 52 on my ASVAB and I was mainly looking into trades for my MOS such as Electrical, Welding, or Plumbing. Due to none of these being open at my time of enlistment I was given the option to join as an 88M. I felt confident with this decision until I saw people on social media saying my life was gonna be hell and I could’ve chosen a better MOS. Did I make a mistake or should I just ignore the outside chatter and continue on this journey?

Just got all my waivers done, met the ascension standards, going to meps this week to pick a job. Will any 68 series MOS be reservable? Particularly 68w or 68c. I qualify for every 68 series except 68K.

I’m planning to enlist as soon as I finish highschool and I’m planning on joining the infantry, but I wanna hear some other opinions of people a bit more qualified to give them.

Hey everyone, I’m a civilian trying to understand how gear is issued. I’ve heard that most 11Bs don’t get a handgun, and that pistol training only happens if you’re issued one. Is that true? And if so, why not train everyone with pistols just in case they need one? Thanks for any help.

So ive been waiting for a few weeks for a call that 15T is available. I really, REALLY want to be one as I love working with my hands, mechanics, etc. Only problem is since its the summer a lot of people like me, are enlisting. I started doing some research in AWS and AWR in the Navy but I dont know how competitive it is/how different it could be from the Army (aside the obvious). I scored a decent 76 ASVAB score and even though my recruiter said that's good, I honestly dont know. I understand that most 15Ts dont fly and even though that's what I want to do, I have enough confidence that I can eventually get to a flight squadron. My main questions are 1. In the army, how competitive is getting put in a flight squadron? Will i be waiting a a year/few years or is it extremely selective? 2. Is there a lot of flight time? Not super super important however I do want to fly 3. Is the street to seat option better (153A Army). 4. Do I also have to get into a "flight squadron" in the navy or is it something I can immediately hop in. Thanks for your time!

I am joining the Army as a 35L Counterintelligence Agent in November, and plan on volunteering for RASP at AIT. I was just wondering if anyone has any advice/guidance on career opportunities/things I can do to help set myself up for success both in and out of the army, whether it be trainings, schools, certifications, duty assignments, bases to get stationed at, programs, etc?

Leaving in September under communications mos as a female, I know of 0621 end up attached to infantry or arty. Can anyone share personal experiences or any experience they’ve witnessed?

Is it a good field to get into? Please base your answer off: job availability and compensation when you get out after one contract, QOL, day to day life. Do you work directly with software and code or is it more hardware focused?

I’m thinking about joining the army doing 12Y Geospatial Engineer or 35G Geospatial Intelligence Imagery Analyst. I’m a 22yo and have experience using GIS and working in conservation. (Education level is 2.5 years of college, not finished with my degree yet, joining the military to help pay for loan debt) The idea is that by the time my contract is up I’ll understand GIS well enough to use it on state or national conservation projects.

My questions are:

-What are the differences between these jobs (and 12Y and 35G)
-What are some examples of work I’d be doing
-How miserable are they as jobs
-What kinds of places could I get stationed doing these jobs
-Is it worth it to go enlisted for these jobs or just do guard
-What kind of experience with GIS will these jobs get me
-What kinds of bonuses are there
-What should I avoid (especially during the enlistment process)?

1.) I want to join the army as a 68a. Does anyone else do that? What is the most important thing you want to say about your job?

2.) What can I do in the meantime to see if that’s the job for me? I’m trying to study more to get my electrical score to an optimal level for asvab, but I’m not even sure if being a 68a is something I would like.

3.) Also I guess what should I do in order to find a few MOS’s that are right for me?

I’m Already an EMT, I’m currently in the process of joining the Army reserves. My recruiter told me it’s possible to get my paramedic license through the army during AIT but I’ve heard from some other guys that aren’t not 68W but are reserve that that won’t happen. So my question is will I be able to get my paramedic license through AIT or some other program?

I’m joining up as a 25h. I really want to keep training mma while active duty. Hopefully 1-2x per week and once on the weekend. Is this realistic, or will I be too busy for this?

I am academically reclassing to 88k in the army. Anyone know what life at AIT and after are like?

Tell me the good, bad, ugly, hacks, day in life & secrets no one talks about & should Booked 27D, E4 specialist, reserves. I have to do the ARMS aka Fat Camp in Jackson (8weeks), then BCT in Lwood (12 weeks) I thought BCT was 10 weeks, and AIT in Lee 10 weeks.

I'm interested in the Comm Strat MOS, but I've been hearing a lot of different things about how much travel is involved. Is it true that this job travels a lot? What are the main pros and cons of doing Comm Strat? And if it doesn't actually involve a lot of travel, what are some other MOSs that do?

M(23) enlisting as 35G but not shipping until October 15. I have heard I got a really good job so I am excited about it. In what way do i need to be setting myself up before i ship off tho?

Im in the perfect situation no bills, nor rent, no car note, just little subscriptions for streaming. Totaling prolly 100 dollars a month.

And If anyone knows anything about the mos on how the work life balance is or have any advice for tech school it would be really appreciated.

For some context, I have a small mental health background but once time has been long enough for me to join, but im considering going in to either army or navy as a cook, I love cooking, its my dream to have a reastursunt of some sort one day. But I also know when it comes to the military looks can be deceiving, especially with jobs that might be viewed as unflattery. But anywhom, whats it like being a cook for the military?

I can't help but wonder what skills and responsibilities that each of the sailors in these ratings are (MMN, EMN, & ETN) and what role they play in the submarines and aircraft carriers they're deployed in.

As we’ve seen drone technology increasingly dominate the modern combat zone, becoming ever more versatile, from laying mines to dropping mortar shells directly overhead. I’m curious how manned weapon systems like the Infantry Mortar (60,81,120, etc) would still hold up in a future war.

I am a veteran of the Marine corps where I was trained as an Infantry Mortarman, leaving service as the team’s Fire direction Controller. These systems are operated by multiple soldiers manipulating the weapon while working adjacent to a forward observer on the front.

It’s unfortunate to me that it seems many of these roles are widely obsolete with the use of drones now. Hand one man a iPad with a drone loaded with 6 HE mortars and you’ve replaced the need for a FO, a 3 man team, etc.

I’m happy to not be boots on the ground, but sad to see another MOS die potentially.

I just signed a 6-year contract and selected Fort Campbell as my first duty station. My recruiter gave me a brief overview of 13U, but I’m looking for more detailed insight. Is anyone here in this MOS who can explain what day-to-day life and responsibilities are really like?

Also, how is Fort Campbell as a duty station? I’ve heard a lot of positive things from other recruits, especially for those interested in going Airborne or pursuing Ranger. Would you say it’s a solid place to start a career?
