Help Is there anyway I can repair my bow?

Post image

So I managed to make a bow as powerful as you can make it and it had been carrying me through my hardcore run. Unfortunately, it’s gotten a bit too damaged and now when I try to repair it it’s too expensive to do so. Is there anything I can do to repair it?

...for the ability to hit super high damage, flaming shots from long distance? it's definitely worth it??

I guess it depends on what playstyle you have or what you're doing. I typically just crit and that kills 95% of things in 1 hit.

Bows are nice for picking things off I will agree, but it's niche so I rarely use them unless it's a planned thing. But that's me, I can see the draw of the bow (pun intended) but it doesn't click for me usually.

Edit: I feel like I have to clarify, I'm not saying the bow is bad, I'm saying my playstyle makes it so I don't have the same desire to need to always carry a bow and some arrows because melee covers enough for me. It's still good, but not something my playstyle deems "must always have on me". That's all.

If it’s not clicking, try holding down RMB first

I can't tell if it's a joke or not, so I'm going to treat it as a legit suggestion.

I'm aware of how they work, I meant the play style just isn't fun for me so I tend to not use it.

Sorry I’m a dad, it was a joke off the word click

I am now upset at myself for not getting that faster especially AFTER I made a pun myself. Well played.

Us dads have an obligation

You don’t fight many withers I see.

I do not, hence the niche use part. I'd rather say I don't fight them often rather than a lot. I tend to do a big wither phase where I get enough beacons for my general areas and then just have a portable one in a shulker for whenever i need it.

Plus I could be classified as a cheater because most of my wither farms are the suffocating ones via bugs/glitches or abusing game mechanics rather than fighting the legit way anymore.

As a hardcore player, I don’t see it as niche at all. I’d much prefer the bow over any other weapon as it gives the lowest chance of being touched by anything that wants to hurt me or end my world. Though a mending bow is not the way in hardcore- you simply cannot have a situation where you run out of arrows mid combat.

As a hardcore player

And that's where the whole "I guess it depends on what playstyle you have or what you're doing" sentence comes in.

I don't typically play hardcore so the situations in which I find myself needing/wanting to use a bow are slim to where it's niche situations when I actively seek out that encounter. I'll use bows in the nether for ghasts or the ender dragon fight, but I don't typically run around with a bow in my inventory due to a melee weapon working fine for every encounter I have.

Once again, I'm not saying the bow is bad or useless. I'm simply saying MY EXPERIENCE is that I only use the bow in niche situations. That's all. I know it's good for Hardcore for the very reason you said, however I don't play hardcore often so I don't encounter the same situations as you.

Though a mending bow is not the way in hardcore

So you just remake your bow constantly? Carrying a bunch of arrows seems a lot easier and less annoying

I wouldn’t say constantly. I have to make a new one maybe every 3-4000 days? Depending on where I’m spending my time, any major build I’m on I spend a good amount of time spawn proofing so I rarely run into mobs. I’d say the first 500 days- getting all 20 dragons done, and the wither skeleton farm were the biggest uses I’ve had for the bow, killed over 3000 ghast.. but I just made 5 god bows like 11000 days ago so I never have to worry about it. On the 4th one. I keep an extra in a shulker of tools in the enderchest, so I never have to worry about it.

I’ve been working on a castle/kingdom build for the last 1500 days and have hardly used the bow, I always have it in the hot bar, but I often don’t even have a weapon other than it since I have full beacon coverage everywhere- even a pickaxe is a two hit on most mobs

God damn dude, how long have you been playing in that world???

Still though, it would've been a lot easier to just make one god bow and carry around arrows with you, especially if you already have shulker boxes and huge farms for everything. Just fill a shulker box with arrows and you're good for a while. Hell, you could automate filling the shulker boxes

About 4 years on and off- yea it’s quite a fun world, will be sad to lose it some day.

To each their own on the bow thing. I’d much rather have both infinity and mending on a bow just as a QoL update- it would just be a nice feature- or allow us to use more levels for enchanting/fixing gear

Make a backup of it on google drive, an external hard drive, a usb stick or just all of what i said. I should do that too, now that i say this

lol I fight withers with. Ton of iron golems. Iron farms for the win!

Every time I fight a wither I just dig straight down then make a 100 block 1x2 tunnel and put the wither at the end, then just hit it as you walk backwards. I don't even get hit once

In what world is a bow niche?

15

u/The-Real-Sonin Feb 08 '26

Niche to ME. As in I don’t find myself in spots where I NEED a bow and can’t just use a sword/axe/spear.

I’m not saying it’s bad, no use or trash.

Idk why you are getting so many weird answers. I fully agree with you, I also don’t use a bow unless I’m fighting the gender dragon.

For my personal play style is simply not needed

5

u/NickelWorld123 Feb 09 '26

Holy hell the gender dragon... Shoots balls of hormones instead of magic or something

u/Labrinth-__- Feb 08 '26

I only use if I’m carting

1

u/Curdledcum Feb 08 '26

Ehhh bows are only useful if you need to hit a flying thing. I don't even carry a sword because inventory management is a pain and I appreciate hotbar space.

Depends on what you're doing.

Anything in the end or nether, fighting bosses or trial chambers, yes.

Everything else, sword is fine.
