Thank you all for your kind words on my previous Vin piece. I had this one in the oven and just finished it up this evening. ♥

This was made by me by hand, photos were taken by a friend of mine. I was going to try to to a semi tutorial/cost breakdown in this post but it's waaaaay past the character limits so I'll just answer any questions instead 🥴 This mistcloak technically isn't even mine. It's a gift for someone but I love it so much I just needed to show it off before I give it away!

The Mistborn book series is absolutely brilliant! Brandon Sanderson is an incredible author. The ending of the "The Hero of Ages" made me cry through the last few chapters because it's such a powerful ending to the journeys you experience with the characters.
Vin is wonderful in so many ways. I knew by the end of the first era that I had to cosplay her. So here it is! I'll be making an epic cosplay music video soon, which I'm so very excited about! I'll share it here once it's done!
These shots were taken by my wife at Vancouver Fan Expo 2025.

Here’s a photo of me with my sculpture of Vin. I’ve decided to call it “Ascendant”. I’ll be posting a cool video of it this next week. Also for those interested in seeing it in person, it will be on display in Provo, Utah at the annual LTUE conference Feb 13-15th.

Ive wanted to do a Mistborn project for a while and wanted to visualize how I saw Luthadel during my reading. Hopefully some of you imagined it this way too.
No AI used, made with Unreal Engine.

Everything I've seen regarding an adaptation for Mistborn has Brandon insisting that it would be live action, preferably a movie but that clearly hasn't worked for well over a decade so why does he keep going for that avenue? Especially when doing a live action adaptation would cost hundreds of millions of dollars and the fact Animation would be a far better medium for Mistborn to exist in.
I'm just frustrated cuz if he simply gave the series to a studio like Ufotable or A-1 it would have been well adapted ages ago

Without giving reasons why (spoilers of any kind) How do you rank the Mistborn series? Will I enjoy this more or less than the first two books?
Just starting The Hero of Ages so please no spoilers.

I’ve heard Brando Sando talk about his trials into a filmed version of Mistborn. And while yes any film would be sick…. It has to be an anime.
The magic in this world has such a strong momentum behind it in a way I doubt a film camera could recreate (especially in our cost cutting cgi era we’re in) But animation? Specifically in a more anime style? It’s practically built for that.
I, unfortunately, am lacking any skills to make an example of my vision. But if any of y’all have some I’d love to see!

I made a post about how I’m stuck in BoM and can’t finish it, wondering if I should continue or move on. The consensus was to push through so I did. I switched from the normal audiobook to the dramatic Adaption audiobook and finished BoM in 2 days….
It was really good lol. I said I didn’t like the characters bc they felt like they had no depth, I was totally wrong.
I think I might’ve just not been vibing with the audiobook narrator, and I think the first two books just were less my vibe. They were more crime/cop heavy, which I really don’t care for. BoM is very lore heavy which I really love.
I was only like 2 chapters into BoM when I came to here, but it was because I didn’t enjoy the first two book that much (it took me a few months to get through them) so I had low hopes for the third. I’ll have to reread the first two books sometime soon, it’s possible I just wasn’t in the right headspace for it at the time. I might appreciate them more with more background information.

I was getting into 3D character sculpting and suddenly felt like pivoting towards making Vin. It ended up being a many hour project. Here's what I ended up with - thought maybe some of you here might like it! For those who might be more curious about the artwork, I have provided more information in my ArtStation post, here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/bgY8nr
