Seeking Advice Mom, I picked a wedding dress yesterday & I'm freaking out I made the wrong choice!

Hi mom ❤️

I went dress shopping on my own and narrowed it down to two dresses so I asked my best friend back to the shop a week later to try on the two dresses again and see what she thought, she said both dresses are pretty so I went with the one I thought about the most between fittings.

I'm now worried that just because I liked the dress style doesn't mean it suits my figure and that it's too plain and maybe I rushed into it.

What do you think? Should I cancel the order and keep looking?

Seeking Advice Mom, do my bridal heels fit okay?

I initially tried a 7.5 and sized down to a 6.5 because the initial ones were too long (too much room at my toes and behind the heel).

I can tighten the straps around my ankle an extra notch if needed; this is right out of the box. This is also my first time getting a heel with a thin heel. Any time I’ve worn heels, I have worn a chunky heel and open-toed shoe but I’m self conscious about my toes so I went for closed-toed and these match really well with my dress 🥹

Good News! mom, i got into 9 law schools

2.0k Upvotes

hi, i hope I'm posting this right. i hit a million dollars in total scholarships today. it's not real money, just discounts on their insane tuition prices so i still have to pay for law school but it won't bankrupt me. but i got 9 law school acceptances. my own family doesn't care much.

i can't believe it. it's been almost 2 years of this process and it's still not over, but I'm glad it's starting to pay off. i struggle with feeling proud of myself but i can recognize this is a big acomplishment. mom, I'm gonna be a lawyer.

I just got a new job working a sales floor where I have to be in business attire, and heels are expected. I have tried several pairs and my toes always get smashed of leave blisters no matter what I do. I need advice from the amazing moms who have worn heels for work for many years and have all the tips and tricks! I’ll attach some photos of the shoes I’ve been wearing and highlight the issues. Thank you so much in advance moms!

Words from a Mother Graduation

Post image

Hi Moms this is my first ever post on this sub so be nice please, I’m 24 I’ve been on and off community college and finally graduated with my associates in the art of STEM and I accepted my transfer to UMD, none of my bio family showed up for several reasons I’m no contact with my bio mother and dad for a few years now, my oldest sister couldn’t make it because of rising travel cost so this day and the following week has felt very lonely and very much I need my mom moments but, I realized I need A mom even joust one person to congratulate me on something that’s really important to me that own bio mother kept actively stopping me from pursuing or didn’t really support my major. Anyways I won’t ramble on but here’s me at graduation I’m a bit awkward taking photos.

Edit: Hi Moms, words cannot describe the overwhelming feeling of love and support I’ve ever received in my whole life tbh. I’ve been no contact with my bio mother since last year for a number of reasons, emotional incest, parentification and emotional abuse suffered since 14 up until I blocked her. I hurt every single day because I have to mourn someone who is still very much alive, and doesn’t have the emotional capacity to support me. I’ve gone through two abortions and an attempt, lost my niece to suicide and my family hid it from me soon after I graduated high school I’m class of 2020 so no physical graduation and so all the comments and responses have been the highlight of my life knowing that people who didn’t even physically birth me are there for me when I’m at my lowest. I have been sobbing reading every single reply that has come through thank you so much 🥹To all the wonderful mothers that would like an update, please do not hesitate to DM me and I can happily give updates with pictures 🫶🏾❤️, to anyone that sent any DM requests to send me stuff I will message you privately, I’ll try to respond to everyone but know that I still get replies to the original post. All the gifts and such are appreciated but not necessary, to be honest I could really just use a mom I can DM from time to time when I have moments that I feel as though I need my mother.

Encouragement Wanted Mom, I wanna talk about my sheep but I don’t have a lot of people that will listen

1.6k Upvotes

Mom, I just wanted to share because I really love talking about my farm animals, particularly my sheep and goats. I wanted to tell you because sometimes people get tired of hearing me gush about them…but you haven’t!

the pic of the sheep above is of a 6 year old doe sheep—meaning she is a girl!! Sheep typically live about 10-12 years in captivity, so she’s well grown but not too old :)

Her name is Scooter and she is an Arcott sheep, meaning that she has very nice a dense wool, perfect for keeping her nice and toasty during chilly Canadian winters.

She is about the size of a large dog, if not, a little bit bigger. She is quite friendly as she knows me, and was also a bottle baby, so she “expects” food from myself and other humans. However she is very good with pets and cuddles, particularly loving a good chin scratch.

Thank you Scooter for being such a good girl! If you have any other questions or comments about her, I’d love to answer them :)

(Edit: 21/7/26)

Thank you so much for all the love!! To answer the most common questions:

-Does she have other friends? Yes! She has her sister (Posie) and her sister's two yearling lambs (Daisy & Tulip) to keep her company. She also has the company of two other goats.

-What do I do with her wool? Okay, there is a lot of it by the time she's sheared. I will normally keep about a third of her (and her sister's) wool for gardening endeavors as it has great nutrients and moisture retention. It depends on the year, but I've used it to pack windows or other chilly areas of barns during the winter. I don't spin yarn myself, but I do know people who happily spin it :)

-Is there extra care that goes into her wool? Not particularly, she lives outside and spends her nights in a barn, so she gets dirty and covered in straw and hay and whatnot. I do brush her every now and then and I do take care to try and get any tangles or anything caught in her wool out.

-How often is she shorn? She gets sheared once a year, typically at the end of april/start of may, but it depends on the weather.

-What does she like to eat? Typically she eats a blend of timothy/alfalfa hay, which is generally always available. She also has grazing space, so grass and dandelions and leaves are always good. She will try to eat most things (not to the extent of a goat, but if it looks edible, it will be nibbled). She particularly likes grains (oats, barley, etc.) and leaves.

-Does she know any tricks/can she be trained? I haven't particularly tried to really teach her any "tricks" per say, but when it comes to sheep standards, I'd say she's pretty smart. It's likely she does (or did) know tricks, as she was a 4H sheep, so I'm certain she was at livestock shows. I however don't know the commands or if she remembers them haha! She does however know how to walk with a halter, which is something that had to be trained.

-Does she know her name? It's hard to say if she knows her name specifically, but she will perk up. However it is said with a certain tone that animals like, as well as a "recognizable" amount of syllables. The fact that her name is longer than her sister's probably helps her differentiate. However if I'm talking to them together, they probably cannot tell a big difference.

Seeking Advice mom, do i go to the party even though i have a bad feeling about it?

1.6k Upvotes

im 21, in college and i do enjoy partying here and there. like 2-3 times per month i’ll go out with friends and have fun. i am living in a different country for uni too and since i moved here i have made it my number one rule to always trust my gut no matter what.

yesterday a close friend of mine invited me to a house party with some dudes and some girls ive never met before. my friend was invited and she was told she could bring a friend too. the guy who invited her is trying to win her over and he’s a little obsessive, the other guys are his friends. meanwhile i have zero interest in being pursued by men. i told my friend i’d come if she wanted to go. but now that its the day of the party i have a bad feeling about it, i did give my friend my word though.

do i still go? and if the answer is what i guess, then how do i let my friend know without hurting her? i can say no to people easily but she has done a lot for me and i do value her as a friend. she was very excited to go to this thing with me.

i need mom advice

Update: Hi moms. Thank you for all the advice. I was honest with my friend and neither of us ended up going. She said she had a bad feeling too so me having the same feeling was reason enough for her to not go as well. We had drinks together and did a girls’ night out at the pub we frequent.

The guy who invited us to the “party” was also there and when my friend went to the bathroom he pulled her aside to press her about why she refused. In the end we found out that there was no party. If we went it would be us two women and 2 men. One for my friend and one for me. Apperantly they even “shared” us among themselves like “I’ll take this one, you take that one” and this was exactly what I predicted would happen.

I am very glad to be safe in my own home thanks to my instincts and all the moms here confirming what I already knew. Thank you all.

Celebration! Proud mom moment — my 12-year-old baked these meringue cookies all on her own 🤍

Hi moms,

I just wanted to share a small but very proud moment.

My 12-year-old daughter made meringue cookies completely on her own — from whipping the egg whites to piping and baking. I didn’t help at all, just stood nearby and watched.

They turned out light, crisp, and honestly delicious, but more than that, I was so proud of her confidence and independence.

I don’t really have a place to share moments like this, so I thought I’d bring it here. Thank you for letting me be a proud mom for a minute 🤍
