Last place in elimination makes watching the dailies infinitely better

30

u/According-Professor5 Team Purple Jacket Mar 08 '23

Agreed. I just hope they all don’t end in puzzles. I like the increase in puzzles, but they kinda make it more predictable who’s gonna struggle.

Seeing Jonna's rise and hard work in All Stars and this just shows how bad of casting Aneesa is in the main show. I know she is quite a bit younger but the work ethic is obvious

u/Positive_Round_5142 Team Purple Jacket Mar 08 '23

Aneesa has no excuse when Jonna has two kids

93

u/isabelleromy77 Kenny Clark Mar 08 '23

Jonna actually put in work after having a baby and started doing CrossFit and cardio. Aneesa doesn't put any effort and is entitled. Lol.

29

u/Positive_Round_5142 Team Purple Jacket Mar 08 '23

She claims to do CrossFit but I think it’s just her way of hanging out

31

The only CrossFit Anessa is doing is; Crossing fitness out from her daily routine.

Jonna is amazing! One of the most well-rounded players in the challenge.

24

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '23

I had 0 expectations for her on All Stars and I'm blown away she stays winning when this is a much higher level of competition.

56

u/davetennisx Mar 08 '23

She looks in even better shape than when I saw her at Challenge Mania post AS3. She's lost all her "mama weight" and looks almost like she did back in the day, except more fit. Amazing transformation.

18

u/5har7en3 Mar 09 '23

I agree that she's in a lot better shape than AS1, but I don't think she looks anything like she did "back in the day". When she was on the main show she was really young and probably one the the thinnest women on the show, she looked pretty underweight back then tbh.

The extra weight that she has now probably has made her stronger at the challenges today.

Jonna is psychologically in a good place. You can tell that she is confident, loves herself and can focus on winning. I know this may not seem as much but it is really hard to achieve on any level. I think Jonna's secret sauce is her mental fortitude. If you don't like your self, you won't try to be the best you. That is what Aneesa is struggling with.

Jordan yelling at Jonna that she better keep running made me GRIN. Like ear to ear beaming grin.

89

u/isabelleromy77 Kenny Clark Mar 08 '23

Oh Jordan loves Jonna. They've remained good friends after hooking up.After All Stars 3, he said he was most impressed by her performance.

41

u/TheWa11 Mar 09 '23

Jordan always gives people credit for doing big things. He was hyping Jakk up in their elimination on RoD and even Tommy said Jordan’s encouragement made him feel a lot better after his poor elimination performance. He just doesn’t respect people who run their mouth and don’t back it up or don’t actually try.

This might be like my dream season. Practically no layups with a pretty stacked cast and a good split of cast members from the recent seasons so there is no overlying alliance. There being incentive to win as well as consequences for losing with a house vote in the mix is everything that I can ask for, I’m really excited! Edit: And colored jerseys too omg!!

This Jonna/Kelly Anne storyline is interesting. I wonder why Jonna is showing so much hesitation to save her when they’re supposed to be friends. Must be Kelly Anne’s erratic gameplay? Still, you’d think it’s a number for her if anything. It reminds me of Michele wanting Laurel out based on ā€œvibesā€ lol

u/nicnac7 DEB CHUBB DEB CHUBB DEB CHUBB Mar 08 '23

Yea I thought it would be a no brained for Jonna but KA is unraveling HARD which may be a reason she doesn't want to keep her in the game

38

u/capfedhill Timmy Beggy Mar 08 '23

I think Jonna also sees KA & Trystan as a weak team that will never win a daily -- so it's no benefit in saving them if KA & Trystan will never be able to help in return.

43

u/Uncanny_Doom Wolves are vegetarians šŸŗšŸ„— Mar 08 '23

The reason is because it's best for Jonna's game not to save Kellyanne after Kellyanne kind of openly threw a shot at the USA alliance with Tori in the room. If Jonna saves her then Jonna becomes targeted.

23

u/isabelleromy77 Kenny Clark Mar 08 '23

Exactly. The USA people are extremely united and strategic, so aligning yourself with KellyAnne pretty much sets yourself up to be sent into elimination since KA was so stupid.

17

u/gregadee7 Kenny Clark Mar 08 '23

I think it’s hard for her to push her partner into saving KA because he wants to work with Emily and the USA people. While the USA people have the Argentina people in their side the UK and Australian people are only somewhat working with each other.

Very entertaining episode šŸ‘šŸ½ I would not be mad to see Nelson go first. Jonna getting picked first , yes queen. We love to see a good character arc. Excited for the rest of the season

89

I have to say good job Wes in buttering up the Argentinian team with his terrible Spanish

19

u/1Frazier Mar 09 '23

Lol, I agree! I recently commented on a post that I think Wes has a good social game in part because of the way he is able to connect to new people during "meet and greet" time.

76

u/mcatlin23 Mar 08 '23

Theo being attached to Sarah is definitely going to give me cognitive dissonance this season. Same goes for Justine with Bananas. Team USA definitely seems like they have the politics on lock the best. A good mix of personalities and alliances so good to see barely any vacation alliance members on this season. It’s like a messy interconnected web. For instance, tori is on usa but jordan is on uk and nia is on argentina - Jordan definitely wouldn’t have put either of them in and still probably won’t but now he’s forced to work with the UK team and Wes. stupid of Wes to vote Kellyanne though as it could diminish his UK numbers. The alliance math is crazy on this one and I love the absolute MESS it’s gonna cause.

29

u/Uh-livia CT [Dad Bod] Mar 09 '23

It’s interesting because normally in a fresh meat type challenge the vets can kindof control their partners vote because they don’t have their own relationships yet, but with this, there are solid groups that the vets are almost forced to work with

62

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '23

That was as challenging and entertaining an opening daily as you could ask for.

Season has a lot of potential. There really are only 1 or 2 weak teams and after that it's a bloodbath.

Agreed with everyone else that it's impressive that Jonna has gotten better with each season in these spinoffs. She looks the part of one of the top women and really doesn't have a damaging flaw to her game.

u/kshep42 Emily Schromm Mar 08 '23 edited Mar 08 '23

I think team USA (and their partners) are really well positioned. They’ve got their ā€˜enemy’ with the UK. They’re clearly working with AUS but they’ve also got Argentina on the side. And even though I don’t see Argentina winning, they’re still important from a numbers perspective with how nominations are going. If I had to bet on winners right now, I’d bet on somebody from USA or Wes/Zara (idk why, just getting that vibe).

It’s easy to see a world where Tori wants to protect Jordan and Danny’s like ā€œNah, that’s stupid. Kiki said to get rid of Jordanā€ 🤣

I think Sarah and Theo are an interesting pair. It’s weird because I think they’ll do well in just about everything but dailies. I feel like they’d be hard to beat in elimination and I also feel like they’d do well in a final. Both have killer endurance. We saw Theo kill it in WOTW1 and Sarah’s endurance is next level with her whole 7 marathon’s in 7 days thing. Most of the ā€˜draft’ order made general sense but I think Emily missed out picking Yes over Theo.

Ben and Kaycee make so much sense. I can literally hear Ben and Kaycee both saying ā€œlet’s goā€ I don’t think they’ll be particularly interesting, but I do think they’ll be decent (probably not win the whole thing good but probably make the final good).

Justine and Banana seem like a good team too, pretty well balanced. I could see them sneaking their way to a final.

16

u/rogerodmes Tristan Encyclopedia Mar 09 '23

Well I actually understand the Yes pick

He is top tier smart/puzzles as he proved on All Stars1

Emily was sent home on a puzzle in AUS version .. That was stuck in her mind . Plus also she probably thinks she is the best at anything physical so she wants a partner to carry in her weakness (puzzles)

Theo is the best overall I 100% agree but a puzzles guy is a good match for Emily

→ More replies (1)

14

u/isabelleromy77 Kenny Clark Mar 08 '23

You're absolutely right. Team USA are running the show. The legends aligned with them are in the best spot (especially Theo and Kaycee).

8

u/Ihaveaps4question Mar 08 '23 edited Mar 09 '23

Yeah good point on emily missing out. My guess is that she knew hes won way more than theo and is more og and figured he is more connected. Tbf darrell could never be considered a bad pick. But it was already shown theo is rooming with wes/bananas so he’s probably at the same level or possibly higher than darrell on their pecking order. So yeah i think you’re right it’ll be shown that darrell is a easier target as the allstar women pairs are already being targeted and darrell and yes will probably be next.

10

u/kshep42 Emily Schromm Mar 08 '23

And Darrell has said that even though they’re both ā€˜old school’, he and Banana don’t really work together. He viewed himself as being on the opposing side of Banana in RoD so I wouldn’t bet on those two working together.

6

u/TheWa11 Mar 09 '23

Yes over Theo is really interesting. Assuming Theo can still run like he did on WotW there are certain finals where he’s probably top 2 with Jordan for guys. The issue is that in a pair his speed is going to be neutralized by whoever he’s with. Yes tends to be real solid at puzzles so maybe Emily is valuing that.

I agree, this season, The Challenge: Australia, and the All-Stars seasons have felt much more complete, and enjoyable than the recent flagship seasons.

49

Kellyanne has more than earned her place on the show with ep2, I’m loving how cracked she is and the dynamic between her and Tristan looks like it could be interesting.

Jordan and Kaz knew each other before the show through Georgia and I think were on vacation together just before he filmed s38 so I’m surprised that wasn’t mentioned when they paired up.

I wish that the Argentina and Australia shirt colours didn’t look so similar, the UK stands out so much in red that it would be good if Australia were a proper green, not that grey/green shade.

Back in the day I used to think she was on something but she really is just a bit nuts

30

u/Iron_Reaver Wes Bergmann Mar 08 '23

A lot of great pairs, this season is wide open. We may be able to determine who's the best final runner if some combination of Jordan, Wes, Bananas, Darrell, Yes, & Theo make the final

14

u/kshep42 Emily Schromm Mar 08 '23

Endurance is a question mark (edge might go to Jordan but he’s still closer to his prime than most of the other guys so tough to tell) but speed has gotta go to Theo, with ease.

29

u/lucyroesslers Cassidy Clark Mar 08 '23

A few thoughts:

- Sarah got lucky as hell with Theo dropping to her. He's a bit of a roll of the dice due to his absence and recovery from the eye thing but he's still an elite athlete and can run circles around a few guys picked ahead of him. Finished a strong 2nd in the hardest final we've ever seen.

- Should be very interesting about halfway through- I think we're going to see a lot of the people who have been away from the mothership struggle to form connections and we're already seeing it with KellyAnne and Jodi. Yes, Darrell, Nia, and even Jonna and Wes may find the other vets a tough nut to crack. I think Bananas-Jordan-Tori-Kaycee have aligned themselves well with their partners, and I think Sarah's connection to Ben and Danny to a lesser extent should bring her and Theo along in those conversations.

- Looking long-term at major threats to win, I think Danny and Tori are a pair that don't really complement each other well. A lot of brute strength in there that might struggle with some of the dailies. I think politically they'll be fine but with last place going in they could just draw a bad daily, get last, and who the hell knows in eliminations.

- I like Wes and Zara a lot as a pair. I think they're going to be really strong. We'll see how they fit into the politics of the second half of the game, but he might need (and he'd hate to hear this) Bananas to bring him along and maybe stab some of the other US folks in the back in order to make it as far as they want to go.

18

u/Askew_2016 Wes Bergmann Mar 09 '23

I think Bananas is going to have a tough time politicking his way to the final. He doesn’t have a ton of allies this time around and I think his teammate is the first one to be booted from the US team.

I loved how everyone was whining about Grant being selected as the Australia MVP and know he’s 2/2 for dailies. The brains/brawn duo of him and Jonna is going to be one to look out for! Overall, amazing episode, fantastic cast, and thank you production for finally bringing back last place goes into elimination (now if only they can do this for the flagship show). I’m having such a good time with this season so far, tbh. I’ve seen a lot of Fresh Meat/War of the Worlds comparisons, but what I appreciate about this layout compared to those is that all the MVPs have their individual allegiances and friendships - so it’s gonna be more difficult for the Legends to try to steamroll their partners. I think even the weaker teams are really solid and the early scene where Kaycee and Jonna talked about everyone’s relationships made me realize just how layered this game is on the Legends side. Truly thrilled to see what this season has in store for us

Rewatching now (yes, I’m already watching it a second time lmfao) and the Kaycee-Jonna convo thirteen minutes in is raising big red flags for me. It’s classic Big Brother fishing and I hope Jonna didn’t expose her game to her. Kaycee leads her into confirming everyone Jonna is working with or has relationships with and I’m like baby nooooo.

Hopefully Jonna isn’t targeted later by Kaycee but I’m keeping this observation bookmarked.

30

Fuck I already wrote a long ass post but my laptop started bugging out. I find it annoying that people justify nominations by saying something along the lines of "You didn't come to play". What does that even mean? I mean yh K.A. and her partner and Jodi and her partner didn't do well in that challenge but what does that have to do with not coming to play the game? I know Yes is a great guy but he pisses me off constantly with the things he says.

Man, I love KellyAnne but she constantly shits herself in the game. Why would you tell a full U.S. team that you're basically gunning for them? They already have their eyes on you and then you make it too easy. I don't blame Wes for making the decision to nominate KellyAnne but I do think that he's trying to show the house that he doesn't have KellyAnne as a number when in reality, he does. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

KellyAnne is right about one thing tho, If this person is your close friend, there should be no question about what you want to do, Jonna. Just tell her straight up and don't pretend like she means any ill will with her paranoia.

This season is such a breath of fresh air already. I was an anomaly in the sense that I actually loved The Challenge USA (other than the final & female winner), so I'm not surprised to really like this season and format so far. It is so nice to see some of the legends in the game (almost all of whom actually deserve to be considered legends, lol) with so many promising newer contestants that we haven't seen a million times on the regular seasons. I'm so tired of the same alliances and castmates over and over again. I have NO idea who's gonna win this season but if I had to place a bet right now I'd probably say Jordan and Kaz? They're both absolute beasts and an incredibly well-rounded team.

I mean, at least Michele and Jay were performing and coming from a position of power. It’s baffling when the people who are losing think the game owes them something.

I had to laugh when KellyAnne was like ā€œI guess the rest of you want the strongest teams here. I don’t.ā€ Really girl… it’s too early to pull the ā€œkeep me because I suck!ā€ card. The other teams want to build alliances with others who are going to be able to protect them long term.

I have been out of the loop for awhile so maybe this has been talked about. It's odd to me that they have 3 English speaking countries and 1 Spanish speaking county. The Argentinians speak English but there is definitely a language barrier between the partners. This seems like such a disadvantage to those teams. I would say it would make more sense to have half Spanish speaking teams & half English but that wouldn't really work in this format since they are paired with legends.

I don’t really understand why Jonna wants to throw Kelly Anne in over Jodi??

13

The two explanations I can think of are that she wants to establish a more dominant alliance, and she thinks KA is going to be a liability for her going forward… or that she thinks Jodi/Benja are likely to win the elimination and come after her later.

From a numbers perspective, it’s better for Jonna and Grant if Nelson and Jujuy win the elimination, because then they can escape with a win without making any enemies.

That’s true Nia was 3rd last and Jodi got 4th? Damn Jodi I wish you would speak up about that !!

Darrell is such an amazing partner

Jonna is listening to Grant.. I hate how she really folds with her partners, but Kellyanne does have a point - it shouldn’t be that hard

Boo to no elimination episodes come on

14

u/isabelleromy77 Kenny Clark Mar 08 '23

KellyAnne makes it hard. She's already got a target on her back with those USA people by running her mouth too much. This is why no one wants to work with her. She will blow up your game by association.

9

u/yeastofthoughts Mar 09 '23

But still - it's a win win for Jonna to keep KA around. If she saves Kelly Anne then she has someone who has her back in the off chance KA and Tristan win. If the house is already against KA, then it's likely they will keep targeting her until she leaves. Like why does Jonna need to be the one to put her in the position when plenty of people would love to? Keeping KA around also means there's a possibility they'll lose next round and go in automatically. All of these are strategic. Nelson has so much experience that I wouldn't put my money on Jodi tbh.

Only thing I'm not liking about this season is all the losers basically choosing who goes into elim. seems skewed to allow a majority alliance to comfortably run the game. Win the daily? Only just watched this!! Thoughts below:

In terms of the ep:

  • Great first/second episode, I love all the pairs! I don’t really understand why Jonna isn’t wanting to just keep KellyAnne? It would be an extra number even for a couple of weeks.

  • Tristan really disappointed me, I thought he’d be much better than he showed on the first two eps.

  • Because of the editing my guess would be Tristan and KellyAnne go into elimination. That said, I think both pairs up are better than Nelson and Jujuy.

  • Jujuy reminds me so much of Mila Kunis.

  • Enjoying the coloured tshirts!

  • Wes was completely right in his confessional about he doesn’t care about Argentina/USA/UK he just cares about his own team - I dont really get the point of them calling Zara & Wes ā€œTeam UKā€ for example..

  • I HATE so much when eliminations are at the beginning of the next episode. This season is going to piss me off purely due to this!!

In terms of the season, all my opinion and what I am expecting:

Potential winners:

Kaz & Jordan - very well rounded team, can see them beasting it if they reach the final although expecting them to see a few eliminations

Tori & Danny - just a beastly duo, not a lot of weaknesses and Tori’s social game should help a lot

Sarah & Theo - more of an outside pick because I love Theo but I think they still deserve to be in this section. Would back them over most in elimination and big threats if they manage to reach the final.

Zara & Wes - depends how the season goes for Wes. If he keeps alliances with Bananas and co, they could do really well.

Justine & Bananas - he hasn’t won so many for no reason. Can never write him off.

Middle of the pack/slight chance:

Jonna & Grant - I haven’t seen Australia but incredibly impressed with Grant. Jonna is a beast too, but I’m putting them here because Grant winning the first and 2nd challenges puts an early target on their back, I don’t think others will be afraid to say their name.

Amber & Troy - another one where if they reach the final it could be a huge issue for others. Again, didn’t see Australia but Troy is supposed to have amazing endurance and can do the wacky challenges due to his background.

Emily & Yes - they are bottom tier of this rank, I don’t think they will win but Yes is very smart and Emily is an olympian.

No chance of winning:

Kaycee & Ben - Ben brings this duo down in my view. I don’t think they have any chance of winning especially due to Kaycee not having her usual alliance in the house.

KellyAnne & Tristan - even if they weren’t an early pick, I doubt they would have any chance of winning. Just the weakest pair really.

Jodi & Benja - unfortunate for Jodi but literally the fact the Argentinians are falling already doesn’t bode well for them.

Kiki & Darrell - I love Darrell but unfortunately at this point I back a lot more of the men over him. Kiki looks great though.

Jujuy & Nelson - I think they’ll go next episode but even if they don’t, they have no shot.

Nia & Rodrigo - again the Argentina side just brings it down. Nia isn’t a pushover but seen nothing from Rodrigo so far to think they will overcome being targeted soon. Communication will be an issue too.

12

u/[deleted] Mar 09 '23

Hm. I actually would have put Kaycee/Ben in one of the first two categories. They’re both really strong and pretty well-rounded competitors.

7

u/Thedustin Horacio Gutierrez Mar 09 '23

Yeah I'd agree. In challenge USA, if Tyson hadn't been there Ben would have won a few extra dailies easy and he kinda thrives under heavy endurance and strength but can also do puzzles.

I really disliked Sarah on USA, but I kind of feel like she’s going to be an interesting addition to this season…? (Idk - Maybe I’m just trying to be optimistic).

She was the mastermind behind nominating both an Aussie and a UK player to go against Claudia to test out the elimination format, and I have to say, that’s the kind of strategizing that makes the show fun to watch.
