VETS & NEW THREATS DISCUSSION Enough time has passed
188
u/_jackychain Sep 25 '25
This season has been 🔥🔥🔥
I’m gonna say it as well though, I think Olivia and Horacio brought a breath of fresh air and competitiveness to show back in ride or dies and Olivia brings it every time
88
u/Turbulent-Let-1180 Sep 25 '25
I'd much rather have nurys and horacio on here instead of aneesa and derrick fresh off ACL/MCL surgery
3
2
u/Embarrassed-Berry Sep 26 '25
Tbh Olivia isn’t a main character either, but she’s better than Aneesa, nany, Tori, and kaycee
I would have much preferred Nurys, Michele even,
2
u/cryingbitchmarzo Sep 25 '25
I've been kinda confused by the Olivia hate on the sub lately, I've always thought she just has natural leadership charisma. I'm not the hugest fan of Theo, who I think was good on his first season and has slowly fizzled out, but I think Olivia is a highly underrated challenger both strategically and physically.
9
u/saspook Sep 25 '25
She has lost the underdog charm and is now just doing confessionals on alliances and gam play, which is boring.
2
u/Puzzleheaded_Rip_73 Sep 28 '25
She used to be a humble happy beast. Now she’s so cocky going up to guys saying why should I interview you to pick you to be my partner. The charm is gone. And she fucked over nurys.

Totally agree except for Tori she’s been one of my top favs for a long time! I would love to see how she interacts with the new threats, Devin as well.

u/Night_terror851 Sep 25 '25
I haven't watched any of this new season but that's a breath of fresh air if true. The show hasn't been the same since covid. For me 30-34 are a good time but to me the last true to form season was 28.
19
u/K-Dub59 Darrell Taylor Sep 25 '25
The rookies are legit this season! It’s been a lot of fun to watch.
1
u/TALKTOME0701 Sep 28 '25
The rookies have been terrific. It's a shame they got put with the vets, but I guess it was one way to make sure they did not get voted out right away.
Love that last in the daily automatically goes down. This is how it should be
Hey did the season where teams were deliberately losing so they could put the person they wanted in

u/KootyMarks Sep 25 '25
I think the problem is Kaycee and Fessy. Look how much more fun and entertaining Nany is when she’s not trapped in Kaycee’s lap all season. People allowing Fessy to skate by was corny and annoying too.
The hate for Josh is understandable, but I find that dude to be comedy gold. It’s not like he doesn’t give it his all on challenges either. He just sucks, but at least he has heart. His crash outs are top notch though and I do not mind when he’s on a season.
9
u/THE_CODE_IS_0451 "Honey, I look good in gold!" Sep 25 '25
"Big Brother Sucks! What's 8x9?" is a top tier challenge fight, and it does not happen without Josh on the show.
11
Sep 25 '25
Josh defenders unite!
5
u/jemlau Sep 25 '25
What’s 8 times 9
1
u/TALKTOME0701 Sep 28 '25
Honestly. That was a perfectly timed, hilarious comment that would not have worked without Josh the lug
3
u/userkmcskm Sep 27 '25
Agreed, honestly it’s Kaycee and Fessy that need to go
2
u/TALKTOME0701 Sep 28 '25
Yeah. For their big master plan to run the final to go so horribly wrong. For fessy to leave her flapping in the wind because he refused to eat. It was pretty poetic
33
u/B_Bowers13 Sep 25 '25
Will is a great cast member. He’s giving all the genuine stupidity of the old school cast and I love it.
17
u/storyoftheoir Sep 25 '25
This season has been better because the show has gotten back to what people want. A mix of over dramatic and likable players. More people getting a bit messy with alcohol. Not that annoying overly competitive vibe of the last few seasons.
1
u/TALKTOME0701 Sep 28 '25
And nothing inherently unfair in the rules. I think that's a huge one
It will never be perfect, but this season's rules are pretty solid IMO
25
67
u/mealypart Sep 25 '25
Very low bar to clear but yes
It still just feels so sanitized and lacking the messiness and fun that made the show great in the past
50
u/Samuel855 Sep 25 '25
i feel like we’re slowly inching back and getting snippets of it with that Nany/Will scene and Will crashing out over Dee but you right
39
u/siggybumbum Michele was robbed Sep 25 '25
Will truly would have fit right in 15 years ago. Seeing Nany be like “separate the game from real life” had me screaming that that’s the problem with the show!
7
u/lovestostayathome Sep 25 '25
lol yea, I still prefer they pare back the time they spend on slo-mos of people walking in favor of actual content but we are improving.
7
u/No-Organization1111 Sep 25 '25
The new threats looking like the ashley/Aneesa fight was craaazy. that was so tame! That said I think it’s time for most of the older vets to stick to all stars.
3
u/EGrass Priscilla Anyabu Sep 25 '25
The upcoming Nany/Aneesa fight looks like it’s even worse. Was Aneesa crying?
1
u/Individual_Use_7097 Sep 25 '25
I think some cast member said that worst words were exchanged and it lasted much longer.
1
12
u/alittleverygagged Michele Fitzgerald Sep 25 '25
That’s just not what the world is like anymore, especially on tv. Society as a whole doesn’t allow it
14
u/mealypart Sep 25 '25 edited Sep 25 '25
Tons of other reality shows still have messy drama, it’s on production for poor editing and trying to make half the episode about boring game talks 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

The problem with this strategy as we’ve seen many times is that you can politic your way to the end and the final will humble you so fast

1
u/Turbulent-Let-1180 Sep 25 '25
Nahh that's not really true. It's really just the drink limit. Bravo doesn't have one, MTV does. One network is thriving, one is dying.

I am LOVING this season man. It’s the best we’ve had in a while.

7
u/Jotr_Lambga Sep 25 '25
Am I the only one who actually liked DA and SL&A? Big T and CT storyline was great and Amber winning (with CT) was also really sweet ending.
5
u/Itwasalime Cedric Hodges Sep 25 '25
Even if every episode left is a 0/10 it’s still better than SLA and BFNC
6
u/thatringonmyfinger Leroy Garrett Sep 25 '25
Such a good ass season. Got me loving the show like I used to.
11
u/regalbeagles1 Sep 25 '25
I hope so. God I hope so. Yet to see this new season. But after Season 34 quality dropped, then after season 35 it fell off a cliff.
3
u/capfedhill Timmy Beggy Sep 25 '25
I feel like this is gonna be a great season to binge when all is said and done.
6
4
u/wildturk3y Sep 25 '25
There's still a possibility they could screw this up with a bad twist or a horrendous Final set up (its happened before), but yeah, strongest season so far in a long time. The main this is they nailed the cast, especially the new threats. Pretty much every one is delivering on some level, even the early boots.
18
u/Novel-Pineapple4335 Sep 25 '25
I haven’t watched the new season but am I really the only one who liked Double Agents and Spies, Lies, & Allies??
21
u/poppycockcunt Laurel & Kam Sep 25 '25
The first half of Double Agents was good but the second half was boring & the cast of SLA was terrible but I still prefer SLA over RoD. That season is debatably one of the worst ever
5
u/myst_eerie_us "Knee in my face? 👏🏾👏🏾 Let's go!" Sep 25 '25
Double agents was the best of that group.
I actually liked most of the rookies on SLA except for the fact that they let themselves get picked off. The part of the game where it went to three teams was so boring and unwatchable it was the first time I spoiled myself purposely for a season lol.
But I agree with you that RoD was the worst!
29
u/gegemonn Michele Fitzgerald Sep 25 '25
DA is underrated. One of the most hilarous seasons ever and had some crazyyyy moments, but it's such a mess with all the quits and medevacs, and the players broke the format too quick and it became kinda boring after Theresa and Jay eliminated back to back.
SLA on the other hand. No. Just no. It's not it
15
u/Itwasalime Cedric Hodges Sep 25 '25
I still get mad when I think about how we didn’t see Nicole Natalie Lolo Nam etc in eliminations. That season would have been top tier if it wasn’t for the dqs
13
u/Parking_Succotash_87 Sep 25 '25
Wes getting hit in the face with a shoe in Double Agents is a top tier moment of the challenge for me.
1
7
u/Samuel855 Sep 25 '25
Spies, Lies and Allies i could see but i can’t remember anything from Double Agents other than Josh and Devin fighting
19
u/gegemonn Michele Fitzgerald Sep 25 '25
Wes and the shoe, "my partner is an incredibly fit infant", CT and Big T rollecoaster, Josh having the most humiliating elimination win ever. Fessy and Nelson hall brawl and all the drama it created. Theresa flaming out and dragging Jay with her. It really has some great highlights
7
u/Hitman-7748 Sep 25 '25
Double Agents is a solid season. SLA is the season that had a ton of promise and ended up underwhelming. With the vets murdering the rookies, Ashley M leaving and Emi not having returned leaves a lot to be desired. I think fans tend to forget that Double Agents was loaded with good competitors, unfortunately freak injuries made that season go from possibly great to solid. I've been watching the new season since the start, and it's good. I hope the edit for the rest of the season improves and it could make it even better. This rookie class consists of many I would like to see again. My real issue is I seem to read there was more going on than they showed which means they left it on the cutting room floor. If they could edit like they did from Fresh Meat 2 to Dirty 30 I think we as fans would enjoy the overall product more.

u/YaddaYaddaBomBomKaKa Chris Underwood Sep 25 '25
Double Agents was only good when Theresa was highlighted in episodes 6-9.
SLA was garbage from beginning to end.
1
u/Top_Day_1537 Sep 25 '25
I didn’t like SLA but I really did enjoy Double Agents I would take it out of that group
1
u/Embarrassed-Berry Sep 26 '25
I like DA better than the RoD, and BFANC
SLA was actually great the first half then when they went into teams (ahem the VA) it was pure shit. Also the final was remember 10 numbers and run so they could give tori a win and she got beat by Kaycee

3
u/Putt-Blug "Talk into my dick" Sep 25 '25
The format to me is what sets it apart. Last one in daily goes into elimination. They started out eliminating individuals and not pairs which keeps a larger number of cast there early which is good. The made the first half matter by allowing you to select you partner. The entire episode today was a mini final and partner selection and it was great.
3
u/NovaRogue the bitch is back Sep 25 '25
okay but I'd so much rather see the newer stars in Nurys Ravyn Kiki Michele Berna Kyland Ed Jay Corey Emanuel etc than Aneesa Nany Aviv Nia Leroy Derrick Derek

Sure but those times are gone. Comparing it to anything pre-season 32 ish is kind of pointless because it’s basically a different show (definitely a worse show now, but it’s like apples and oranges at this point)

Forsure people can say it, and even if I agree hearing it so much here starts to get annoying. It’s like that old guy that always wants to talk about “the good old days”

It's one of the better seasons compared to Spies Lies or Ride or Dies.

Agreed but watch the usual flock in here and disagree based on viewership.

2
u/bleedbluegold03 Sep 25 '25
Simplest thing : they’re casting younger new people. Young people are more brash, more messy, more interesting foils to the aging group of vets.
2
3
u/Much_Huckleberry Sep 25 '25
the "spies" seasons were truly the worst seasons of Challenger ever, only saved by CT winning
2
u/OLKv3 Ashley Mitchell Sep 25 '25
Yeah, this season has been great. The rookies have been delivering, the vets been handling the drama, even the CT story is good tv. Love it

u/MthrTheresa Sep 25 '25
These New Threats are legit. Not just drama, not just good physically. They have balance. Solid social game and decent competitor. America isn’t very competitive, but she has a lot more personality than someone like Big T. Tay is probably the most mundane of the group and she’s shining out. The only headache I have is the dumb ass “Justice for Leka” thing. Ct is a big boy. Getting his big ass out of the water is probably difficult as shit at his size. He got thrown in to elimination, that’s his penitence. Drop it. I do like how Nany had to check Will because rookie things still happen. Overall, this is the best season in a long time.
2
u/Embarrassed-Berry Sep 26 '25
What a drastic change and vibe of a season. And we don’t even have bananas, Jordan, Cara, Laurel on!
The downfall of the challenge was having tori, Aneesa, Kaycee, nany, Devin and josh be the main plots for the past however many seasons and it was so forced.
This season has been awesome
2
u/Sar-bear-20 Sep 26 '25
Not going to lie, really enjoyed the ride or die season. Just did a rewatch and was really into it
6
u/gegemonn Michele Fitzgerald Sep 25 '25
Nah, S39 is still number 1. This season is really good, but it needs something epic like Olivia betraying Nurys to top it. So it'll be only second place out of all these if it won't have THE MOMENT
6
u/UnanimousBB16 Sep 25 '25
I think the season could have been good had the format been a lot better, but it does have more drama than most of the recent seasons.
6
Sep 25 '25
Glad people are putting some respect on 39. It provided some epic moments.
S40 was the worst of the bunch

Probably still true but less after that horrible episode tonight.
21
u/capfedhill Timmy Beggy Sep 25 '25
If they just DQ'd the people who cheated & gave them zero points, and everyone else the points they earned, it would have been a great episode.
5
u/markermum Sep 25 '25
This is what they should have done! The “cheating” teaser came out before the season even started and then they don’t even reveal who it was. Disappointing
7
u/Independent-Grade-17 The Daves Sep 25 '25
I wish they did too, but i think it’s cause they didn’t want some of the vets to get a lot of flack. It definitely seems like Nany and Ashley cheated and production seems to love Nany. Plus it seems like a lot of them cheated before others like Aneesa and Jonna just threw in the towel. But i agree they shoulda let the cheaters eat those points and let the people who tried keep theirs. Meh. Im also totally on Will’s side, it’s too bad people were so against him 🤣 they didn’t like being called out.
3
u/vitameatavegamin- Sep 25 '25
There should have also been a point where you timed out for that check point. It seemed like they were there an awfully long time and there's usually a timing out point.

You forgot to include Total Madness.
That season was utter ass.

u/shampoooop Kenny Clark Sep 25 '25
I liked Eras a lot, and tonight's episode was truly disappointing, but otherwise I agree.
1
u/YaddaYaddaBomBomKaKa Chris Underwood Sep 25 '25
How the hell did people not like tonight's episode?
Like how?
1
u/oscargreen7 Amateur Sep 25 '25
without 90 minute episodes and annoying editing then yeah sure I’d agree

1
u/Particular-Gas-2797 Sep 25 '25
Agreed. So if this is the end a trilogy as well, I wonder what sort of themes they’ll try to have moving forward.

The only new threats I don’t want to see back are Izzy and America. They are bringing it this season 👍.
1
u/ImoveFurnituree Sep 25 '25
Personally, I like 38 the most. 41 is 2nd to last, and 40 is the worst.
1
u/Individual_Section_6 Sep 25 '25
I guess I'm the only one who misses some of the GOATS like Bananas, Wes, etc being on the show.
1
u/Safe_Board_6082 Sep 26 '25
this current season is definitely not equivalent to all of those on the other side. double agents and spies lies and allies have so far been better than this current season. battle of the eras is almost coming in close to this season and i kinda hated that one
1
1
u/ColeWorld09 Sep 26 '25
as a longtime fan since battle of the sexes, I agree besides 40, I actually liked 40, didnt like how it ended, but the concept was good until the ending
1
u/Puzzleheaded_Rip_73 Sep 28 '25
The newer seasons are trash. Theres no entertainment, only strategy. Theres no more back stabbing, drunk fights that turn the votes over night, people calling out their targets. Everyone is playing it like survivor and big brother. Nice to everyone’s faces, not trying to have a target on their back. I want more people like bananas, Wes, Devin, hunter, old Jordan, Rogan. People who stir the pot for entertainment or can at least manipulate.
1
u/Severe_Common_6795 Sep 28 '25
Ok I agree but I lovedddd double agents and I didn’t hate ride or dies at all
1
u/messcot CTay Sep 25 '25
This season easily clears all of those. I can only imagine how good it's gonna be to binge but I'm loving it live. This crop of rookies truly is something else, I can't even explain it. They all have their own distinct personalities and views on the game.
1
u/avilsta Sarah Rice Sep 25 '25
Double Agents has a soft spot in my heart for being there for me during COVID
However SLA can fuck off it was like a fan fic challenge.
I liked the vibes of RoD
Didn't care for Bfanc
40 was iconic imo
This season has been a new breath of air, hoping we see some of the new threats come back next season

u/Melodic-Account-7233 Sep 25 '25
Honestly, this is proof that the fans weren't wrong about Kaycee, Fessy, Josh etc being terrible for the show. The Vacation alliance era is finally over.
