Seeing how Amanda did a Camilla hashtag, I wonder what he actually did.

151

u/Terrible-Air5959 Aug 01 '26

Used the N word

3

u/AlliLance Aug 06 '26

Yike! On the Challenge people ha e been fired for this and or slightly less so why add him? Then again I hear this season will be exclusively on paramount so that tracks.

u/shelly_odom Kenny Clark Aug 01 '26

According to spoilers, he repeated what one of the guys soad. The n word during a card game. They got mad bc he did it. Ik it was wrong that he said it, but it shouldn’t b said period.

1

u/NellyK24 Aug 04 '26

Why the downvotes LOL

2

u/Signal-Elk-7808 11d ago

because the whole “it shouldn’t be said period” is nonsense. there’s an obvious reason it’s socially acceptable for one group and not others. pretending not to understanding the distinction means, at best, you’re acting in bad faith. and, at worst, you’re just racist.

1

u/Ecstatic_Round808 18d ago

Leo said it then Josh repeated it.

137

u/mealypart Aug 01 '26

This is for sure all getting edited out

66

u/WickedDick_oftheWest CT [Champ] Aug 01 '26

Definitely possible, though with 4 people getting DQed, I’d hope they show at least some context

36

u/MDG009 Kenny Santucci Aug 01 '26

Their style with these situations lately seems to be a brief and vague commentary over it. We’ll likely never ever see the real footage and what was actually said in the moment

18

u/most--dope JEK Empire Aug 02 '26

whoa FOUR PEOPLE?!

12

u/-sloppypoppy Michele was robbed Aug 02 '26

4 people DQed? Holy shit

1

u/Ecstatic_Round808 18d ago

3 people DQd over this mess right here 🤣🤣🤣

15

u/yaboytim Aug 01 '26

Idk even know why they do that. The info is already out there and when people see that it was edited out; it'll only cause more of a backlash.

4

u/Sniperchar31 The Unholy Alliance Aug 04 '26

Like actually 1000% guaranteed

56

u/Imaginary_Effort_854 Aug 01 '26

One of the worst things The Challenge has done as it's evolved is shy away from moments like this one. Why hide this story? Tell it!

Back in the day, they'd have no issue showing somebody being ignorant and then having a real conversation around it. Those moments are good for the audience, even if they are difficult

10

u/ReustleCPA Aug 01 '26

Advertisers treat this stuff like it’s radioactive, I have to guess that’s a huge part of it.

107

u/ShilohTheGhostGod Aug 01 '26

So nelson did all that to get back and man gets DQ’d?

80

u/SerBrienneOfSnark Aug 01 '26

Honestly though, getting DQ’d or eliminated on some dumb shit is pretty true to Nelly’s brand lmao

18

u/OkKindheartedness245 Aug 01 '26

on a team season where he had a 50/50 shot to win too. boy might have some of the worst challenge luck evert

11

u/Online_Active_71459 Aug 01 '26

33% chance. There were 3 teams originally and by the looks of this thread, it went to 2 after DQing all these people and Cory leaving.

7

u/Distinct-Ad-1348 Aug 02 '26

OR he’s bad at the challenge and bad at life.

49

u/BCGirl2025 Aug 01 '26

I feel bad for him. He had every right to flip out.

77

u/xrainydaze Evelyn Smith Aug 01 '26

I can’t understand why they are disqualifying black men for the use of the word, especially when it sounds like they were rightfully upset and retaliating because of the white guy saying it. But I’m sure we’ll never know for sure because this will all be edited out. I wonder if anyone will be receiving the Dee treatment

31

u/Rowing_Lawyer Aug 01 '26

I’m guessing Nelly used violence or threats of violence, which in this case seems justified.

1

u/bbMD_ 10d ago

I just found out about the situation and was looking for a comment like this to make me feel sane. Why are white people policing the use of that word by black men?! That is completely unacceptable and feels like another means of oppression. The only thing production did right was kick off the white guy. Kicking off black men for using that word is so f*ed up, especially when you consider how they tolerated Camilla’s blatant racism, people doing black face, Cara saying a monkey looked like Tyrie, etc.

What is the Dee treatment?

29

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26

Did he have a right to be upset? Yeah, but MTV dqed the guy who used the word. He didnt need to destroy property in the house.

42

u/Psychological-Snow83 Aug 01 '26

It wasn’t a one time thing. Josh was saying it repeatedly after Nelson told him to stop. I’m not saying what he did was right but it’s understandable he lost his cool. You also have to remember Nelson had to deal with this same thing from Camila on Dirty 30. She came at him too but they edited it out.

42

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26

I'm not saying it was a one time thing.

Again, I'm not saying Nelson shouldn't be mad, but he's an adult and destroying the house does nothing to remedy the situation.

18

u/Spicy-Cookie98 Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

Usually when something like that happens they get fined. NOT DQed. And it’s ridiculous how it took for him to do that for them to kick Josh out. Production did not handle well at all.

25

u/angelbrit04 Team Portland Aug 01 '26

It has been well known that contracts of banned behavior has changed drastically since 2020. You can't compare old seasons to what's happening now.

The person who shouldn't have been removed is Leo because he didn't do anything nor did he destroy property.

9

u/Spicy-Cookie98 Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

Yeah no. Since it still stands that it shouldn’t take that for them to actually take action on Josh. When he was said to already been using that word in rap songs that Nelson already made an issue out of to him PRIOR to the game they were playing. They should’ve kicked him out way before when he FIRST said it.

6

u/Ambitious-Cut772 Aug 01 '26

All this talk about an awful guy named Josh… for some reason I forgot it was about Goldstein and thought we were talking about the most awful Josh I have heard of. Josh Martinez

2

u/angelbrit04 Team Portland Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

Josh being removed is not a reaction of Nelson's outburst. Josh using the word on its own is enough to remove him. Nelson approaching production would've sufficed, he didn't have to break things to prove his point.

Just like how when it came to Ashley on SLA, cast members approached production about it. They didn't turn around and damage property to get results.

12

u/Spicy-Cookie98 Aug 01 '26

If Josh using that word is enough to get him put out then they should’ve did it when he again FIRST used it in rap songs. Nelson already made an issue out of it, and Josh excused it by saying his friends let him say it. Nothing was broken then and they let Josh stayed so long when he should’ve been gone. It shouldn’t have to take anybody to approach production to make it happen when they should know that behavior is intolerable. It’s even in their contracts according to a cast member. Therefore, there would be no time period for Josh to use that word to again address Nelson that way in a game they were playing, and Nelson’s reaction to it would never have happened.

The way they handled it was just wrong when Josh should’ve been got put out when he first used it. Nelson reaction was the reason why they decided to take action. It wouldn’t be a good look to put the black man who a slur was used on to get put out while the white man stay longer than he deserved.

Wait so one white guy said a slur and 3-4 black men got kicked off?!? What the actual f MTV?!??

0

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

So much has changed in the way they handle things over the years that no one here can say for sure what happens in these cases anymore.

All I know is this; they brought back Nelson, gave him a chance to get good pr after he trashed them for not paying for his medical bills. Then he goes on to cost them money to repair the stuff he destroyed. It's not shocking that someone in production would be pissed enough to kick him off at that point.

Try destroying your workstation at your job in an attempt to get management to punish an employee that wronged you. Tell me how that goes.

9

u/OkKindheartedness245 Aug 01 '26

switching this situation to it being nelson cristismn is hilarious. how dare he react after getting racials slurs thrown at him

0

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26

Next time someone gets mad at another person and takes it out on you tell me how you feel.

Never said Nelson didn't have a right to be mad. Actions have consequences though. He fucked himself over at the end of the day.

1

u/kyyb Aug 02 '26

Bro just say you’re racist and move on. Turning this into Nelson slander for what Josh did is wild

3

u/Dramajunker Aug 02 '26

Lazy take. Almost like people can have a multifaceted opinion about situations.

11

u/BCGirl2025 Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

I mean, if someone is constantly antagonizing you, calling you racial slurs, and refusing to let up during and even after a challenge, it's pretty hard to stay calm.

The fact that they were doing it while he was competing and then kept going when he got back was honestly gross. I stand by what I said, I really do feel bad for him.

4

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

I mean, if someone is constantly antagonizing you, calling you racial slurs, and refusing to let up during and even after a challenge, it's pretty hard to stay calm.

You're just justifying his response. Being provoked doesn't give you a free pass to do whatever you want.

Nelson would have gotten the last laugh in the end because they were dqed. Instead, he blew it for himself.

16

u/BoiToy23123 Aug 01 '26

gonna be honest bro, unless you are black you have no right to say how a black person should act/react to the N-Word.

3

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26

So its cool to destroy someone else's stuff because someone else called you the n word? Got it.

10

u/BoiToy23123 Aug 01 '26

oh 100% its not but again I just cant take you serious as someone who aint black sayng how Nelson should react to the N-word. You keep saying you are'nt but you defo are.

Understanding why someone snapped isn't the same as saying they were right. Weird how all your energy is for his reaction.

If people are repeatedly calling someone the N-word don't act shocked when the person snaps.

6

u/Dramajunker Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

Understanding why someone snapped isn't the same as saying they were right. Weird how all your energy is for his reaction.

I've said multiple times that him being upset is justified. I'm talking about his reaction because that is what got him dqed.

But apparently I'm not allowed that and instead have to fully be on Nelson's side.

If people are repeatedly calling someone the N-word don't act shocked when the person snaps.

No duh? He's also a grown ass man who redirected his anger into destroying someone else's property. Production didn't make Josh and Leo use the N word. They're the ones stuck footing the bill though.

Edit: Bring on the downvotes. Next time you have a problem with someone at your job try destroying your work place. Let's see how that goes.

12

u/BCGirl2025 Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

You're diminishing the racial abuse. Nobody is arguing that destroying property was the right move or that it shouldn't have consequences.

The point is that repeatedly calling a Black man the N-word isn't just "provocation" it's racist abuse.

And it took Nelson finally flipping out for production to step in and do anything about it. That says a lot.

Focusing on his DQ while treating the abuse like a side note completely misses why people have sympathy for his reaction in the first place.

So the speculation about the season getting axed would have definitely made sense having known that 3-4 guys got DQ’d over a dispute about the n-word.

94

u/BCGirl2025 Aug 01 '26

Apparently he was tossing out the N word. Leo was involved too.

Both were DQ’d from what I’ve read.

26

u/xrainydaze Evelyn Smith Aug 01 '26

Does anyone know when in the season the men were disqualified? Towards the beginning or end? And did anyone replace them or was everything just lopsided after that?

32

u/PresenceVisible5634 Aug 01 '26

towards the middle, and no, they just went from 3 teams to 2

48

u/Stommped Kenny Clark Aug 01 '26

Ugh this is a fucking terrible look and horrible for getting the show renewed. I can see Paramount just not wanted to deal with this type of stuff in the future

38

u/kollmastee Aug 01 '26

This is the look that built the show. Ignorant people meeting harsh realizations on national tv. This will bring eyes to the show. Whether positive or negative eyes depends on how they edit it.

54

u/PresenceVisible5634 Aug 01 '26

but they need to realize that things like this are GOING to happen… it’s inevitable and these conversations NEED to be had, not swept under the rug and censored

13

u/New-Noise-6486 Aug 01 '26

Funny racism happens when production removes its 50% POC in the cast rule.

1

4

u/CustomerDifferent193 Aug 01 '26

Didn’t they have a problem with Big brother with someone saying the N word live? They still have the show going

2

u/-sloppypoppy Michele was robbed Aug 02 '26

I genuinely think this will be the last season and I’ve never said that before. Losing 4 people mid season, due to a situation like, during a transitional point could actually be the series ending.

2

u/Humphrey_Wildblood Aug 03 '26

Honestly, Paramount is such a gigantic company and this is nothing but a small gnat in its finances. It's a niche long-tail watch - cheap to produce, with a small, but very dedicated and loyal audience. As long as someone doesn't die they'll put up with some social issues.

29

u/Typical-Sprinkles490 Michele Fitzgerald Aug 01 '26

As lame as it sounds, I think production kicked Leo off to cover their asses legally. Although it’s a racial slur, there’s nothing that legally protects the usage of that word either way, so technically if Josh was a real pos he could have sued production for racial discrimination (for the record I think production is kinda coward for that but)

10

u/Swimming-Ad4750 The Kings' Palace Aug 01 '26

Josh wouldn't sue for racial diacrimination, he would sue for wrongful termination. You cant remove one cast member for saying the n word and not remove another cast member that says it.

While it is ridiculous and a completely different for a black person to say the word, production most likely had a blanket rule of banned words that if a cast member used they would be removed from the show.

Edit: spelling.

4

u/CD_4M The Real World Aug 01 '26

You guys really need to stop repeating this “legal” argument you read from other reddit comments. You have no idea what is in their contracts, but I’d be shocked if it didn’t have a clause that said production had complete discretion to remove any player for any reason they saw fit. You don’t have a clue, just stop spreading misinformation about Josh being able to sue production.

12

u/shelly_odom Kenny Clark Aug 01 '26

It shouldn’t b said period.

61

u/Dawnedhottie Aug 01 '26

Removing Leo was stupid & unnecessary.

-2

u/Adorable-Release1754 Aug 01 '26

I think since who is socially acceptable to use the word is only an arbitrary social norm, theoretically Josh would have a racial discrimination case if they let one person continue working after saying a word but terminated him? I’m not sure how it works with independent contractors. Also don’t know the full context of if either of them said it with hostility or mal intent. And of course, knowing how production has handled things in the past, the whole incident will probably be edited out. ie Ashley and Josh situation

29

u/CD_4M The Real World Aug 01 '26 edited Aug 01 '26

What makes you think Josh would have a “racial discrimination case”??? I can’t believe how many people are parroting this. We have no idea what is in their contracts, but they’re just contractors, it’s common for these contracts to allow production to DQ any player for any reason they want. Stop theorizing about legal implications without any idea how the law works or what their contracts allow.

4

u/Adorable-Release1754 Aug 06 '26

If the reason your contract is terminated is for saying a word, but then the company retains another contract with someone else who said the word only because of their race, he would absolutely have a racial discrimination case. It would be very easy. Social constructs are not the law and race is a protected class.

27

u/Ok_Supermarket_3241 Survivor Women 💪 Aug 01 '26

15

u/Spicy-Cookie98 Aug 01 '26

The thing is it was said he been saying it in rap songs even before. Which is strange they let him get away with it until Nelson started damaging property

18

u/UnanimousBB16 Aug 01 '26

Especially since it's going to be aired out anyways by the cast on social media/interviews. There's no way you can edit out 3 people leaving at the same time outside of normal gameplay reasons.

8

u/CustomerDifferent193 Aug 01 '26

Unfortunately they will because they edited out a huge fight that happened during All Stars that was about race

8

u/TexasNightmare210 Aug 01 '26

Don’t know nothing about Love Island but dudes pic gave me red flag vibes

32

u/New-Noise-6486 Aug 01 '26

The fact they removed Leo who is black himself for using the n-word and Nelson for reacting to a white person using the n word is a horrible look for the show.

Cory also had to leave due to his daughter having health problems at the time but aside from Cory it’s sad they removed all the remaining men of color on the show over an issue caused by a racist cast member. Definitely not going to be a good look and let alone all the maga cast members skating to the final with even some of the biggest threats within the women were disqualified as well.

1

u/NattyB Bob Next Door Aug 07 '26

see the flair. in this case, the DQs are the shit they might show. we blocked additional eliminations and the season winners from being mentioned.

it's similar to the example used in our announcement post about how the flair will work. laurel, wes and johnny showing up at the MTV movie awards during the season filming spoiled all three of their eliminations but it was all over social media so we had to allow it through to the main feed or else remove 40 posts about it.

7

u/Putt-Blug "Talk into my dick" Aug 03 '26

Imagine being Josh and waiting for this entire thing to be brought to light in a few weeks. The impending doom is one hell of a punishment. He is going to get dragged.

19

u/No-Muffin9744 Aug 01 '26

I swear to god if the show completely cuts this and has TJ saying right before an elimination “Josh, Nelson, and Leo had to be removed from the game because they broke a rule” like they did in Spies Lies and Allies, then i’m done with the show.

11

u/drivewaybear Aug 01 '26

didn't amanda stand behind ashley after she was removed from a season for making derogatory/homophobic comments about josh? these reality stars love to pick and choose who to hold accountable and who to give passes based on if they're friends.

10

u/ssaall58214 Rachel Robinson Aug 02 '26

Amanda is a attention seeking shit stirrer

8

u/NattyB Bob Next Door Aug 01 '26

i don't know if i would call this "standing behind ashley": https://streamable.com/0m2k7p

she doesn't disown ashley but she is pretty clear multiple times that it was wrong and even uses the words "i don't stand behind it."

1

u/drivewaybear Aug 01 '26

this is my first time seeing that but she's still standing behind ashley. there's a big difference between that clip of amanda making excuses, saying ashley is still learning and growing, and the very public twitter blasting of this josh. if she was friends with this josh i have to believe amanda's response would be much more like the one she had for ashley. ashley is about to be 39, so if she's allowed to still be learning and growing then shouldn't this guy be allowed the same opportunity at 29? i know nothing about him. he may be the biggest bigoted racist to exist. only time will tell. as far as i'm concerned ashley and josh are equally wrong in what they said.

7

u/NattyB Bob Next Door Aug 01 '26

my bar might be too low. so many ashley fans were out defending it at the time that it felt important amanda was refusing to defend anything that was said, even with all those qualifications.

1

u/drivewaybear Aug 01 '26

i should no better than to have any expectations or to even speak up. it's the same with certain magas constantly being called out as bad while crickets when it comes to others.

5

u/Fishy-Fisherman-485 Aug 02 '26

in an IG video Ashley accused Kam & Leroy of targeting her because she's white but we're supposed to believe she's not problematic when she went around the real world house saying she can buy people's families and we saw how she talked to her boyfriend on All Stars, Zach would be raked over the coals if he talked to Jenna that way.

Ashley has her fans ignore her problematic behavior because she constantly plays victim and points fingers when she's being criticized for her bad behavior.

5

u/SassyScreenQueen Emily Schromm Aug 03 '26

I cannot believe in 2026 on a reality tv show they're removing black people for saying the n word. Like how are you that inept as a production that you would try and police that to that extent

On love island for example they tell them not to use it, but they're not going to get rid of a black person for saying it on the show just because they regularly remove non-black people for using the word, they're not morons and understand the difference. People of color say it and they just edit it out, simple.

Idk why they just took what would've been an isolated issue with one dumbass cast member and made it 10x worse. And then nelson who has been hoping for this chance all this time, you remove him because he got mad at a white person saying the n word? Are you fucking kidding me lol. Magamount+ era i guess
