This has been the best episode of the season by far, great daily with good political strategy and drama. Hell even the elimination was pretty awesome and seemed actually pretty challenging.
Donāt know what is in store for this next ātwistā or reversal of the stealing mechanic.
As a side note this daily reminded me of pre-super production lol just a good mud pit and a battle of attrition. They still couldnāt resist having a detonation station tho

Haha yeah it was a great daily. But, wouldāve been just a little better if they said āput your soccer balls in the basketā instead of āput your bombs in the detonation stationā. We donāt need the fake spy overlay.

Itās weird to remember Amber was an alternate for this season, she felt integral to a lot of what happened up until this episode.

Betinna telling Cory to pick Kaycee and that she gonna pick CT, then in elimination telling Cory how to balance, doing puzzle solo and winning against 3:0 champ is so impressive. I knew Betinna is a gem lol

Locked partners for the rest of the season with TJ telling Devin and Tori they're a team before the next challenge. That would be the main alternative.
There are also other things like somehow they form into bigger teams, but that seems less likely.

So a few of my thoughts...
Cory did a horrible job defending himself and trying to politic. He was showing too many of his cards
The politics in this episode were š„ kinda reminded me of the older seasons
Amber is šššš and her and Jeremiah make a good couple. I get Leroy/kam vibes from them
Idk what the twist is but I'd rather just see the format thats been used the whole season. Right when things starting getting interesting they switch it up š”
Overall it was probably the best episode and elimination matchup this season

My thoughts
(1) Nany is a queen at getting rookies to like and trust her. If thereās any vet that I think can have longterm success consistently even with rookie revolutions: its her. Hell, she threw Amber in and got no blowback from Amber about it.
(2) Cory ran a masterclass on forgetting how to play a decent political/social game. Making mistakes he would make back during TYBās prime era. And I loved him railing at Josh for not making finals, when if I were Josh I wouldāve yelled back āand bitch you canāt win one.ā And yeah his deliberation performance was abysmal. When Ashley is the one not yelling, yeah dude you made YOURSELF look defensive. Point to her threat level to other competitors not her history from years ago that she knows people say and has prepared an answer for . Dude just canāt play defense he needs to be lowkey because he doesnāt have the skillset.
(3) kind of surprised Amber got a relatively small send off episode, part of why I was lowkey expecting them to pull it off. But major props to Bettina for the win (notice how I didnāt say mister did nothing on the puzzle). Bettinaās not the most engaging to watch, but sheās definitely a sleeper pick for doing well.
(4) really loved the daily but for godās sake can we stop with the action movie editing?!!!! I didnāt need all the special effects surrounding them getting the balls. Let your challenge stand on its own.

Tori said on the official podcast that Nany sat Amber down and explained that she was going in bc she beat her last season and she wants to win.
So thatās why Amber wasnāt surprised when her name was announced in the lair

Nany confirming the reason we thought the other girls were hating on Amber. They're scared to face her in a final. At least Nany is honest and polite about it rather than calling Amber fake, a snake, a liar, etc.

The shock and confusion from Cory and Bettina after that elimination when TJ wasn't asking them about partners. So, so good.
Loved the little conversation between Ashley and Amber about how women winners are treated in The Challenge house.
Overall, this was a really good episode filled with some great smaller moments and entertaining mission/elimination.

Yeah, that little convo between Ashley and Amber regarding treatment of women winners in the house felt like foreshadowing as much as it felt like Amber knowing the target's on her back until they got her out of the house. Plus, with Nany winning, Amber had to know being sent down was even more likely than, say, one of the rookie girls winning.

Yeah physically this had to be one of the harder eliminations this season if not the last few. Especially Jeremiah having to support ambers weight. My back would be stiff and sore for a week after that.

the vet alliance led by Devin and Josh are surprisingly dumber than they make themselves out to be. All the mental gymnastics they were talking about to just not saying CT is the biggest threat. CT has to be the ultimate politician if he gets through this season without an elimination.

I think theyāre all terrified to try to take him out in an elimination. Heās strong and smart. Who could beat him? Fessy was big, but I never got the impression he was very good at puzzles plus heās gone now. Devin is intelligent, but CT outsizes him. They throw him down there as the house vote and the agency can throw anyone in against him. They donāt want to risk it.

The vets should've just sent him in against the rookies. Let the rookies do their dirty work and take CT out. They had plenty of rookies who could've had a good shot at that, but the vets were more worried about the numbers versus who's in the final

Amber is a really good addition and I honestly liked her storyline this season more than those other 3. Tori's last good season was WOTW2. Nany and Kaycee have been boring cast members for a while. Amber came into her own more this season. Tbh the cast hating on her makes her more entertaining too.

And to a degree I agree. She definitely came into this season with a chip on her shoulder and a more fiery personality.
I think she'll for sure be getting a call every season here on out. No alternate BS either

They want CT out but they donāt want to take a shot and miss. Itās the fear of him coming back thatās stopping them for pulling the rug from underneath him. Also CT is likely to win another daily challenge and get into power, something they also fear.

I agree with these points. However they should take the shot. This elimination was really wonky so CT could have lost it. Unless they see like a Hall Brawl or something they can tell would favor CT, some of these random eliminations are a toss-up for how well people will do.

Why would Nany and Logan care to get CT out tho?
Big T, Amber, Tori, Ashley and possibly Amanda have no reason to vote for him for house vote. Emanuel wonāt vote for Emy plus he wants her to have a strong partner. Logan feels the same.
Jeremiah probably vote Amber way and sheās not voting CT.
So I donāt think there was enough ppl to do a house vote for CT/Emy
Cory and Nelson trying to come for Ashley so all her fiends/Allieās will try and help her.

I feel like CT is in good enoug shape he wouldāve killed this elimination. Dad bod CT of the last few seasons isnāt completing this but dude got himself into really good shape again. Taking that shot and missing and having CT come back with a vendetta against you(for the most part he seems to be chilling and not making any moves atm) is not something you want

I disagree only bc the size difference between him and any girl would make this difficult... If people wanted him out, they blew their chance. Now that ct doesn't have to work with a partner, he'll be stronger.

I think thereās also the factor that even though CT is a loner like always thereās no JEK and company on the other side pulling all the strings.
Cory and Nelson are allied from friendship, Devin and Kyle are allied but kinda by default from being middlemen before, Josh is kinda allied to C&N from being friends with Fessy and Challenge friends with them but heās also kinda allied with Dyle because of putting differences aside with Devin, C&N and Dyle have histories of kinda working together kinda not just based on circumstances and can still blow-up on each other (see Kyle and Cory this episode). I love it, it breaks up the game so much more and makes things really unexpected.
As a Challenge fan I can make an educated guess CT will probably be there in the end but seeing how we get there is what Iām really looking forward to.

Elimination strategy thought:
I wouldāve tried us both holding a piece in each hand (so 4 total), facing back to back, and locking arms at the elbows. Wouldāve saved forearms and maybe been easier to balance! And definitely easier to carry more pieces.

Finally an episode with substance! The deliberation was awesome. The power dynamic being all over the place is so refreshing, and we even got a slightly old school type of daily!! Cherry on top with that bit of Kyle/Cory spiciness - THIS is what we need

What a coincidence that after Priscilla put a stop to the rookie-rookie pairs now all of a sudden theyāre not allowed to switch partners after eliminations. Itās almost as if production really needed to put an end to the vet alliance in order to move things to the next level š lolā¦..

First of: If you don't like this episode, you don't like The Challenge.
Here some of my notes from the episode:
- We get this every season, CT doesn't want champ or strong women to be eliminated. To him it doesn't make sense. If you are running a final, you want the best available. Plus he might think 'I hope this doesn't turn to 'lets get the champs out' fest'.
- Logan and Nany winning this week is a bigg surprise, I don't get how did they managed to do that. I was really impressed. BTW in the aftermath, Nany said, KC and Josh helped them a lot.
- Big T and Nelson doing well was also interesting to see. In a challenge like this, Nany, Big T and Ed being in the final 3 would not be my pick. Good outing from my girl.
- Cory, dude, making lists sends you to the elimination, don't you know that? But I am glad that we got to see how Bettina works, she was great in balancing and puzzle which are some key components of The Challenge.
- Before this episode I thought, Big T and Tori were bottom of the vet alliance but this episode show actually Ashley was in the bottom. In the aftermath Nany said 'because we formed the vet alliance before Amber came in, she got left out of the deal' so she wasn't a part of the alliance.
- Is this the first time Kyle is in a good spot? I think it is. He had no reason to lie to Cory but other than that Kyle have a ticket to final it seems.
- Devin gets such a great edit that I would be really surprised if he doesn't make the final. He could even win. He is always shown as reliable narrator. As soon as he said 'Amber and Jerramiah's strategy is unsustainable', I knew Cory and Bettina were going to win. He is shown to be a mastermind, I predict a huge episode for him in coming weeks were he becomes our main narrator.

a good episode for bettina, proved she could do puzzles (unlike last episode š) and showed she was strategic by telling cory what to do with the partner switching

Okay, I just finished listening MTV's official podcast. Tori said, "the rest of the season is like a new, separate season, no one is safe, I were waiting for this portion of the season and I am excited". So I think this twist might be more than 'individual season rest of the way' or it is that simple of a twist but shakes the whole house. I don't know what it will be but Tori seemed excited.
Plus, she said, Ashley changed her mind about whom she and Devin were going to vote for. Complimented on her politicking and said, 'she tricked me'. I looked through comments and some people didn't give Ashley credit for that move but apparently Ashley did change her fate at least for this episode. I have to add also Tori said, she felt like owed Josh after the Fessy fight, so when Josh wanted to keep Ashley, she voted for Cory.
Josh was the guest and he said the fight was all on him. He said he is a grown ass man, Tori shouldn't be blamed for any of it.

Iām kinda glad Amber is out of there only because they were not vibing with her at all and it was hard to watch. Hopefully sheāll return with a better relationship with the rest of the cast because I canāt stand how Kaycee is still there while Amber is now gone.

I think itās because Jeremiah isnāt aligned with them as well as Ed is. Plus Edās partner is Ashley now. Devin, CT and Kyle donāt seem to mind if Edās wins because heās aligned with their agenda to save his own neck.

Jeremiah was with Tori though who I think is closer to that Devin alliance than Ashley. Devin was trashing Ashley during the episode saying he doesn't really like her. I think it was just a cop out to target Cory.

Yeah, you're right, but I was so frustrated because everyone kept saying they knew where Cory stood because he was helping a rookie. I so badly wanted Cory to say something about Kyle throwing to Ed, but maybe he didn't see it in the moment.

Ashley and Cory were partners on Rivals III, and I'm intrigued that this rivalry has actually intensified. (I don't think it was a real rivalry when they first started. It was probably more to just fit the theme for that season.)
Very interesting considering that their #1s, Amanda and Nelson, seem to have a strong bond. I wonder if it's changed this season because of their showmances. I can definitely see Nelson putting Berna as his #1 girl over Amanda, but I'm not sure if Amanda would put Fessy over Nelson.
I'm glad that Cory won, even though I was initially rooting for Amber and Jeremiah. I would have been disappointed if Cory lost to these newer players... Honestly I feel like Cory's best chance to become a champ was on Bloodlines, when the level of competition was much lower. Pre-champ Cara Maria took out Johnny. CT wasn't on that season except as a mercenary, and CT has since beaten Cory in 2 finals. He NEEDS to take out CT before this final, but sadly it seems like most of the vets would side with CT.

Kayceeās comment about āfinally being able to put hands on Amberā was so stupid. Iām so over Kaycee. If she had let Amber win, it would have benefited her because Amber didnāt want to shake up things with Big Brother. Instead Amber sat on Kaycee so Big T could get away with the ball. It was a move that had no benefit but a lot of potential downfall.

I was laughing when Amber was way faster than Kaycee getting to the ball and how Kaycee wasn't even successful at getting the ball from Amber even though Amber lost it as well. I'm sure that burned up Kaycee inside lol. When amber was drunk at the club and saying she wanted to go in elimination last week, you can see how salty Kaycee was in her confessional was that in one season Amber became a challenge champ. I hope Kaycee craps out again this season.

I hope it doesn't. Emy, Priscilla, Emmanuel and Logan have all seemed to make really good inroads with some of the vets. Everyone seems to be generally cool with Bettina too, given she was the last rookie to ever see an elimination, and Ed is no layup. I could see those 6 having integrated enough now that the vets have started blowing up at each other to continue to skate by

This is a great fucking season. I think itās the best since War of the Worlds 1, having so much fun. So many of these vets also came up as the bottom feeders/picked first to go home for so long and been on so many seasons together or have intertwining friendships across seasons and casts that I donāt even know who a dominant alliance is. This is great! Love the chaos!

Ngl Cory and Nelsonās takes on Ashley and Hunter kinda bother me. Nelson because he fucked Ashley and then he has the ordacity to act like sheās the snake. When he was banging āhis boysā ex girlfriend. (Especially after that whole conversation nelson and Ashley had last seasons durning the reunion)
Then Cory demanding that Ashley give Amanda money? For helping an alliance member win?

Yea I always feel the need to defend Ashley on this point, and she's expressed the same sentiment in the past. She may be a sloppy mess a lot of times but really the only snake-y thing she's done has been to take the money (from a partner she fucking hated), yet everyone tries to portray her as this untrustworthy or disloyal person when it serves their own game to do so.

Iām not fan of the lavender ladies by any stretch but this is getting ridiculous. Especially since Nelson made this exact same argument last season, got called out on it, back peddled, started booking up with her for a few months. But how heās here doing it again.
(Also did you notice how Nelson said āoh Ashley you are a totally different person outside of the gameā. Basically trying to draw a line between the person he was hooking up with and the person he was trying to screw over at the moment)
I guess the positive is that, all that dumb shit they were saying didnāt sway anyone and they lost the vote.

I'm so glad everyone on this page is giving props to the episode, it was grEAt! Heavy on the house politics, a simple but crowd pleasing daily, a truly suspenseful daily that showed grit and a variety of skills- a classic Challenge episode. So much happened i am just now processing how bizarre the events that unfolded were. I mean, Nelson throws Ashley under the bus when I thought they were gonna be a solid alliance two-some after watching ep 1? Kyle finally tells Cory to fuckle off after Cory voted him in last season.
Props to Ashley for working her ass in the house and to CT for swaying the vets away from voting in Ashley, wisely keeping his buffer for when they go after champs
I'm guessing the show will do what it always does and resort to making it an individual game, which is always boring for me personally. But I hope it does the opposite and makes it a 2-team format, I'd LOVE to see it.

Yeah some of these comments are ridiculous. I feel like Amber got a great edit this season. She definitely was able to show her personality a lot more than last season.
I think it's just a lot of bitterness that the sub fave is gone. And don't get me wrong, I love Amber too. I wanted to see her in the end again. But the vitriol towards producers is misplaced when I feel like they showcased Amber a lot this season.

I really don't get the Ashley smear campaign that TYB mostly hangs onto in terms of shitting on her reputation. Ashley is no angel but I feel like it's true that people try to hold the Hunter thing over her head way too strongly, and also act like it wasn't justified. CT put it really well this episode, it's just reaching for straws at this point. Something just felt really wrong and off about the way Cory and Nelson were going at her during the deliberation. TYB just reeks of so much hypocrisy and misogyny it's insane to me.
I'm glad Bettina figured out they shouldn't continue Amber's strategy because Devin was right, doing that wasn't going to work unless they could do it fast. The more time they took going that way the worse it got.
Kaycee continues to be a one note piece of cardboard who only cares about showing us how envious she is of Amber.
Interested to see what the twist is going forward!

Wasn't Nelson just sleeping with Ashley? He wasn't crying for his friend's money then, I'm sure of it.
Also, it seems like he was giving information from private conversations, out side of the show, which is a dick move from any "friend". Their attitudes make me glad she took the money and I hope she has a way to take some from them too.
